The Series 4 cover was on a DVD release. It was a HMV exclusive. Also, the specials Blu-ray has a the 50th anniversary logo (like series 1-4 Blu-ray). The original had the 2005-10 logo.
Seen this around every now and again but have never been able to justify spending that much on it, no matter how much I'd love to get it! Maybe in a year or two it'll come down a little in price! Another awesome video! :D
I went to shops and noticed that the first four series are now available on Blu-ray on their own. I wish they hadn't re-released the sets on DVD, as I have series 6&7 on the slimcase version on DVD.

I was really close to buying this last year I had my finger on the buy button on BBC Shop, but I'm so glad I didn't because the price is ridiculous, it worked out much cheaper to buy exactly the same DVD's with the same design, artwork and features separately for around £12.99 each which all came to around £80-£90, so it saved me around £70-£100 in the end. It's great for a collector but even then the price is pushing it, it also sucks how the Americans get much more for much less but oh well, AWESOME VIDEO! -Matthew

I bought season 1-4 off amazon UK version same as you got In the set because they still don't have all the season blueray in the U.S. The only one that is blueray is season 1! And I have to wait over a year for the last 3 season so I said to the hell with it and bought the UK versions!

The 1970 logo shown in this is actually a modified one originally used for the TV movie in 1996, it's also used by a lot of Classic Doctor Who merch and Big Finish audio covers nowadays..
Great, review, but I couldn't help but notice that the cases for series 1-4 are the same size, and get bigger from the specials. But for my box, the cases get bigger from S4, only S1-S3 are the smaller sizes, and the cases look a little different. What's up with that?

Except the Blu-ray version's Dalek background is a purple and gold motif while the original on your set and the UK and Aussie slipcases are yellow motif.

Joe Sweeney Didn't get the Blu Ray box set after all, In the end I bought Doctor Who 2009-2010 specials Series 5, 6, 7 and The Day and Time Of The Doctor also Series 8 on seprate on Blu Ray. I decided to keep the first 4 Series on dvd box set has it's still got it's great picture quality in SD. They may do 1-4 Series on Blu Ray sperate in the future but who knows. But I agree £159 is too way over priced. I only paid £80 for my 6 Blu Ray's. Great video review though.
I wish I'd bought this set. the price translates roughly to $300-$350 here in Australia, which is fantasic value in comparison to collectiong all the Blu-Rays indavidually! (which eventually did). Instead I bought the American set, which didn't work on my player, and after that my parents didn't trust me to buy expensive things online, so I couldn't buy this version. Here in Australia, the Blu-Ray Special Edition of Series 8 alone is $90! All the contents of this set, separately, cost over $500! Anyway, great review

Hi, bit annoyed🤔 I bought the whole series 1-9 individually on Blu Ray (while on special) about a year back.... been a fan since I was a kid! Anyway, a couple of weeks ago I thought as there was nothing much on TV that I’d start watching them (really enjoying it😁👍) Just finished season 4 about 1/2h ago, opened up season 5 (Yes they were all still in the packaging since I bought them)...... Hold on a second!! Matt Smith?? WTF! Where’s David??..... Well now I know! Bit bloody late though! Now I have to find the Specials so I can bridge the gap.....can’t believe how stupid this was, not including them in Season 4🙄🤕 Really hoping my local has it🙏🤷♂️

Series 1 must look "Fantastic" on blu-ray, especially Dalek and The Parting of the Ways.

Region A is better because they got the original logos. Region B is better because The Specials through Series 6 are the original disc count and not shrank to 3-4 rather the original 5-6.

BBC AMERICA has so much more respect for the artwork sometimes, I think BBC AMERICA has a lot more money too, if you know they funded Power Of The Daleks
+TigerMan1995 My comment was old. I've already bought them since the comment was made. The UK versions are Region Free. They work perfectly in my Canadian PS4. I ended up buying a region free Blu-ray player anyway since the UK Series 9 is locked to Region B.
@@Kasterborous1963 They did do a separate release of Series 1 in the US but not Series 2-4. So you can grab the Series 1 releases and The Specials through 10. Yet, Specials and 8-10 are out of print.

Actually, there are a few Blu Ray players that aren't region locked. I have a 3D player that plays region 2,1, and 4. And I'm in the uk.
Are you talking about DVD regions which are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 or Blu-ray which is A, B, and C

The UK often gets screwed over when it comes to missing special features or missing out on special collectors editions compared to the USA

These sets are ridiculously priced now, reaching from £170 to over £200. I bought the discs individually for the total cost of £76 series 1-7

Yes but there is also a B-locked one and the US/Canada is A-locked
