    Great videos, Michael! Steele came through my town on his van tour and spent several hours hanging out. I was blown away at how down to earth, approachable, and helpful he was! It was very clear to me in that time he is truly a genuine person who cares about FPV and wants to grow the community the right way. I have the utmost respect for not only his incredible skills, but the person he is.

      Working with TBS is maybe the best decision he made. 8 or 9 yrs ago i meet the tbs team im germany. they flew a frame from a friend at german tv show with their components. at this meeting i remember i did a very bad show flight and crashed, bcause i cant fly. ;-) but is was great fun to talk to them in the first "good" years. all things changed since the years we started in 2006, but one thing remains. 80% is useless stuff compared to the 20% good products and to find out which is good is getting more difficult every year. watchin paid channels is maybe not the solution. ;-)

    Michael Rollins is one of the better interviewers out there. He lets his guest speaker talk without interrupting them.. valuing what they have to say and why they were chosen to be there to speak. Thank you for not being like so many others who feel what they have to say is far more important than the guest.

    Just want to say how much I appreciate Mr. Steele calling out T-motor. I’m new to the fpv drone industry but already have 10 drones and am addicted. I’m successful in business by learning from many failures and what you just described and put out for the public to hear is exactly what we need more people doing in all industries. Thank you for being real!

    Great Ethix Mr. Steele. I have ran my business that way since 1994 and have never spent a single cent on advertising. All word of mouth. Different industry but same customer care. I have an independent BMW shop and stay covered up, and it’s all word of mouth. I don’t try to make a mint on everyone. I can do it with the same parts and skill level for less than anyone else. You have to take care of your customers because if it weren’t for them you wouldn’t be in business. Great interview.

    I found Steele b4 the event in Atlanta in 2016 I believe, I found him though another pilot I was checking out because I was just getting into the hobby. Loved his freestyle and it got me hooked even more and so here I am 4 years or more later still ripping every time I get a chance. Never once thought I could make any $$$$ out of this brand new hobby and never tried. I enjoyed it for what it was and still is for me and that's a really cool ass hobby.

    Glad to see that he realized his potential and capitalized on it. That’s something worthy of cloning. That’s not taking sides that’s just a mentality I think everyone should have in their quiver. Fun is fun and business is business and you have to be forward thinking savvy and keep things in perspective. Even if you produce things that are nearly at cost if it’s a quality product that means repeat customers that will purchase your other products that have perhaps greater margins.

    I don't know if I got a cloned product or what, but the green radio neck strap that says Ethix on it, that I see everyone wearing, broke after 4 months or so. After a flight I just let go of my radio as usual but this time the strap broke and the radio and crossfire module bounced off the parking lot, throwing batteries everywhere, breaking a stick and cracking the crossfire module. What in the holy hell? Had to be a clone, right?

    • @MichaelRollins
      @MichaelRollins  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh man! That absolutely sucks! Possibly a clone? Where did you buy it? It could also have been a defective product. That would be very strange or even a cheaply made neck strap to fail like that, though. Did you contact the seller?

    I always enjoy your videos. Especially when you have people I aspire to be like on, and they talk about things that are real and honest. I know there are some people he's probably done business with or collaborated with that watched this and are like, " that want his idea," or " he didn't give me credit," but the t- motor thing. That's going to make waves, but he doesn't care.
    After I went to I.O. the hobby became real for me. What I mean by that is I have a different perspective now. I learned things about the business side and practices of a certain group of people that will remain unnamed, and it just made me change from a guy who just wants to fly toys to having a different perspective on the whole community and fpv world. My innocence was taken! Lol

    The hotdog strap is not a clone of the fatshark strap. It's obviously well above and beyond anything fatshark ever used two strap their goggles to someone's head. the elastic is much higher quality, the design/pattern itself is definingly different, every single thing about that strap is different and was undisputably a complete redesign and refinement of a goggle strap. what ethix did was take a hotdog strap, use lesser materials, have worse workmanship, all the while using a design conceived by somebody else. Two VERY different things.

I wish he could find some ways to make it more affordable for ethix and not even so much us consumers. If ppl want it they will pay.. LOL this kids want to re invent the wheel, we did brushless motor 12 or more years ago with cd roms from computers. we use N50 magnets, you guys are funny. Is like the foam airplanes without flaps, now you cut the foam install a servo, call it you idea and charge 500 dollars for the model of 50 box. please kids get real, in this hobby is professional people, that invent everyday what you think you invented. I bought an ethix goggles strap. Worst strap!!!! Even worse then stock strap. I got a hotdog strap now and its 100 times better then the ethix goggle strap. Its not a clone, its just worse.

      Can you maybe explain more. What make it the worst? Why did you buy. You statement is useless without providing more information?

      Exactly the opposite experience for me. I bought a hotdog wide goggle strap, thought it would be more comfortable but it was not, and within a month of started stretching out with ripples at the bottom. Bought an Ethix strap a couple months ago and it is much more comfortable, battery fits better as well.

      Same concept, but hotdog's elastic/fabric feels a lot different. I do prefer the hotdog strap, but both do the same job and the ethix one is more affordable.
