Just pressed play on this video and saw this as the top comment. It's very much the same situation July 12, 2022. Tweezers and slowly peeling back the plastic film worked. Thanks for the heads up everyone!
Crazy I had to use a lot of thumb force to put in the cable into the VR Headset until the dot was at the edge. I first thought I had issues with my mainboard not giving enough power to the usb port to turn on the headset
4:26 Why would you tell people to put the cord on the top of the headset? That causes a lot of stress when you raise the headband up or when raising the visor up when the headset is still on your head. I've read that many cords fail because of putting on the outside rather than the inside (which is where I have it now).
You're exactly right on the money. From my comment posted just now, "Running the cable over the top of the head strap winds up being the absolutely worst thing you can do. I've had to replace two cables in the past six months because I did exactly what they show at 4:40 in the video. They bend the living hell out of the cable."
it will work if the adapter is DP 1.3 compatible and Thunderbolt 3 minimum and that your USB-C on your computer/laptop is thunderbolt 3 minimum. Look on reviews on amazon, people often write if it doesn't work with certain product due to voltage limitation for exemple
Stop lying, it does work. Just find an 8k dp to usb c and make sure your laptop has that thunderbolt next to the USB c port as that will auto use your gpu. It works. I have a dp adapter to usb c. The only thing I have one eye not showing colors and it's alot of lines. That's due to me getting a 4k adapter. You need a 8k adapter as 2000+ vertical pixels 2000+horizontal pixels for each eye. So in total you'll need a good 8k adapter for it to function properly. Also the right eye is clear and picture perfect. Try to get one that is 60 hz or 90 hz
@@fearrp6777 oh yeah, thanks for reminding me. My USB-C port did show not directly connected to GPU at first but I'm happy to report that it can work. I just got the Reverb G2 last week, "up-grading" from my Quest 2. There are so many things that Quest makes far more simple. For instance, setting up the boundaries on the Reverb G2 is asinine! My computer is not in the center of my room, it's in the corner. I play some games sitting at my desk but other games in the center of the room, so I switch boundaries all the time depending on the game. Why does my computer location have to be my forward-facing designation? Having to take the headset off to set up the boundaries is ridiculous as well! With the Quest, you simply choose stationery, if you're at your desk, or draw a line if not. You can do this anytime, anywhere. HP could have done better!

+Soaky It depends fully on the game and the graphical fidelity that the game is set to. So yes, the 3060 will be able to play a big selection of games optimally on the g2 and with ok/good settings with 75-100% SS
Well the visual clarity is impressive, but everything else about it so far is not. No Steam game works more than 2 minutes without crashing, Steam VR itself constantly crashes, controllers constantly lose tracking and disappear even if WMR... Have had no such problems with either Index or Quest 2.
Congrats! You got the G2 V2! The button can be long-pressed to turn the headset off. Small disclaimer, the display port has "teeth" at the bottom to keep it from falling out. DO NOT PUT IT IN OR TAKE IT OUT IF THE TEETH ARE EXTENDED! There is a button on the bottom on the display port switch that retracts the teeth while holding it. Hold it when taking the display port in and out.

While this is an ancient ask, my AMD motherboard has a thunderbolt 3 switch with a display port *in* and I happen to have a usb-c to DisplayPort adapter. If that supports display port 1.3, then it might be possible to use Display Port based headsets (to include the Valve Index) on laptops without native DisplayPort. Is a rtx 3060 compatible with a hp reverb g2 to be able to play on?
+Soaky It depends fully on the game and the graphical fidelity that the game is set to. So yes, the 3060 will be able to play a big selection of games optimally on the g2 and with ok/good settings with 75-100% SS
What kind of games do you think the reverb g2 can handle with the rtx 3060?
7:57 Weird flex but ok
Well the visual clarity is impressive, but everything else about it so far is not. No Steam game works more than 2 minutes without crashing, Steam VR itself constantly crashes, controllers constantly lose tracking and disappear even if WMR... Have had no such problems with either Index or Quest 2.
One note, my "junction box" has a power button on it.
Congrats! You got the G2 V2! The button can be long-pressed to turn the headset off. You can seperate the lens spacer if you take off the facial interface, you can get a better field of view, but you might not be able to wear glasses it you do so. Also there are better camera's on this model. This is part of the newer batches that were produced since 2021 week 42 or so, your production date is shown on your serial number. It starts with 8CC and then 1 means 2021, 2 means 2022 and the two numbers proceeding are the week of production. please, what is the maximum voltage that the hp g2 controls support?
+janio santos b The design supports a maximum input battery voltage (total of both batteries) of 4.0V.
However, going above ~3.5-3.6V will put the main regulator into a mode that is not efficient, so heating of that part could become a concern. (So best not do that. :) )
So I’d say 3.6V is maximum.
@@HPSupport thanks, i wanted to adapt a 3.7v nominal battery, but when charged they reach 4.2v, so better to give up.
@@janinbusticaful hey did you find ideal batteries for these controllers? I'm looking for something as my 1.2v won't cut the mustard. I didn't know they made AA's that go above 2V. Thanks
@@tomoprime217 i bought 4 aa 1.6v rechargeable batteries branded pkcell and they were doing fine, but one of them malfunctioned, so i keep associating a 1.2v or regular 1.5v one. I consulted support and they told me that the control would theoretically hold up to 4 volts. I am currently using a 3.7v lithium ion battery strapped to my wrist and wired to the control terminals, pending my new battery purchase I made on aliexpress.

Let me see if I can find it, and I’ll report back… edit, no such luck tonight. If I find it another day, hopefully I won’t forget to report here.
