Re Father Ted: The Monday after Dermot's death, Frank Kelly was generous enough to give me a live ISDN interview for the London radio station I worked for at the time. He was understandably a little shell shocked and distraught, but paid a wonderful and sincere tribute to 'Father Trendy'. Still got the tape, although I'll never listen to it again - too sad.
I don't think I've seen that Mr Bean episode, maybe I was out jollying it up when it was broadcast back in the day. That keeping up appearances episode was on BBC4 last night funnily enough, always good for a laugh.
Stephanie Cole followed by Pippa Heywood? Two of Britain's finest funny women right there. I have watched most of these. Even own most of them on DVD tbh. Could never abide 'The Royle Family' though. So never watched that one.
I liked Vicar of Dibley and Goodnight Sweetheart at the start, but they got annoying quickly. To The Royle Family's credit, it took a lot longer to get unbearably annoying.
"Goodnight, Sweetheart" - a ridiculous concept that was poorly written, acted, and executed. How the hell this garbage got renewed season after season mystifies me.
@@johnstevenson1709 and what. It's filmed in Ireland and an all Irish cast it was turned down by the Rte in Ireland that's the only reason channel 4 got it . 👍🏻

One of the best Christmas episodes was Bottom, to be fair I loved anything with Rik Mayall in.
Every Father Ted is a classic and I like that you called it a British sitcom. There's nothing the Irish love more!
Rte turned it down, so it was broadcast on channel 4 in the UK before being broadcast anywhere else. A technicality certainly but it counts
@@Bratishton It was never offered to RTE in the first place , why do people keep repeating this urban myth as if it was fact?
@@johnnyfeen1347 because it came from the mouths of the shows creators
@@Bratishton Both Linehan and Andrews have gone on record debunking the RTE story.
Clearly we have seen 2 different interviews

Father Ted is in my top 3 uk comedies EVER!
To be fair it’s not really a U.K production (it’s Irish) although it was commissioned by a U.K channel.
@Atheist Orphan Irish writers, UK production company for a UK channel. Its literally a UK production.
The fact that father Ted won an award and spent his entire acceptance speech angrily airing past grievances was comic genius.
...and now we move on to liars.
@@pczplughead 😂
Wow, Goodnight Sweetheart, I had forgotten that one, so good.
I miss the 90s I’ve watched all of these but the first 4 are excellent with GS and 2.4 children being my favourite x
Merry Christmas
Thanks
That Father Ted Xmas episode has been on channel 4 every Xmas since!
When you forgot how many programmes Liz Smith was actually in
Comedy stalwart.
You do some great video, thanks
Christ how does mr bean afford to shop at Harrods, you never see him work.
I like the fact you've had to cut the audio for father ted but I spoke along verbatim 'may be I like the misery'
Happy Christmas!
Merry Christmas xx
Father Ted's Christmas special is the funniest Christmas special of any show ever
For 2 point 4 children, did you say 'meanwhile, sister bill', implying bill and Rona are sisters? Cos they were friends, and not related
Yeah I noticed that too.

Was that Peter Capaldi at Geraldine's door?
Certainly looked (and sounded) like it.
I'm day 6 into the flu. Cheer me up with Xmas cracker jokes, please!
How did scrooge score a goal in the local town football match, the ghost of Christmas past.
I never got why they used body doubles so much for Stephanie Cole in Waiting for god

I was never a fan of Goodnight Sweetheart. I was never keen on the Vicar of Dibley and I hated the The Royle Family
You'd better let Gold know. They'll cancel the reruns
I'm with you on Goodnight Sweetheart... I never saw the appeal of it and was surprised it lasted as long as it did.
I liked goodnight sweetheart. Had no idea it was a comedy though

Goodnight sweetheart was supposed to be funny? Who knew?
Goodnight Sweetheart was utter bilge....Nicholas Lyndhurst should stick to playing Rodney.
Love Brittas Empire Colin was ahead of his time he makes
Greta Thunberg look like. an
Oil baron .
I never did get the appeal of the royle family

Fr.Ted...British? Irish actors written by Irish writers made by a British company, does not make it British
Not like the Brits to claim something Irish as their own...
Exactly. Makes a nice change from every Irish person making out anyone famous and talented who had one Irish relation centuries ago is Irish.
Wasn't a big fan of 2.4 children didn't think it were that great
Yep I never understood its popularity!
@@sl3839 me neither
