Okay, okay we get the point! It’s not about God, or Mary or Catholics. It’s not about Bernadette becoming a Catholic sister, her journey to sainthood her relationship with the Blessed Mother, The Lord’s miraculous cures. It’s about standing up for whatever you believe, no matter what you believe. A celebration of relevancy and, God forbid if it has anything to do with religion. How shameful that a story of Our Lady has to be promoted so deceptively. St. Paul warned us, do not be ashamed of your faith. It shows the depths to which Europe has sunk that they couldn’t even cast this till they promoted it as a secular play. God have mercy.
I understand your pain here. You're right.... Integrity must be considered more deeply, as does the Religious focus need to be considered rather than downplayed. People can easily mistake what is said for Relativism, and this is very much due to a cultural and spiritual decline in Europe. However, the balm I would offer you is love through the reminder that The Church is doing her best to reach out to a world that views her with hostility. Of course the irony here is that Bernadette stands for her simple faith, and the church should too. But she doesn't always get it right in the contrasts between those who believe and those who don't. That's okay...Her goal remains the same. Reach out to touch those who are ready for her with the grace of the Holy Spirit, and illustrate that we are all working to be holier, regardless of the strength of our faith. Keep in mind that The Church, the stories of saints, and the Grace they inspire within us to Christ is the one true reward.... Thank you for speaking your heart.
