  • I remembered seeing this as a kid. This was the only redrawn cartoon I know to have the W7 titles intact.
This came from a public domain Porky Pig VHS released by First Video Group in Canada.

This was one of the few redrawn Looney Tunes shorts to still air on Cartoon Network back when they showed Looney Tunes. And it would alternate between showing the "Abstract W7" logos seen here and the 1972 print with the 1956 WB shield and "That's All, Folks!" closing.

In the VHS i used to see when i was a child i remember very well they did cut off every opening and closing but they leave the original tracks with a stationary frame of the cartoon title

The cartoon that I am watching is on Discovery Family, and it has the original B&W version with original opening and closings restored.

That's how I saw it on WNEW-TV {Channel 5} in New York during the 1970's [and most of the 1980's].

By 1984, ALL were reissued when some of the 'silver' Looney Tunes (1947-1959) were brought back to syndication. 73 of the 78 redrawns were redone by using the 1956-1957 LT opening/closing graphics. Five had the 'actual' openings. Two had the 'actual' endings. Many added the additional 'red' graphic with the \\' symbol after the endings.

@@Rlotpir1972 What I'm wondering about is did the 'actual' openings and endings exist under abstract and later zooming WB plasters. In other words, were the original opening and ending logos redrawn for *ALL* the cartoons?

Discovery Family has finally aired this cartoon for the first time in its original B&W version, and it’s still in the Public Domain.
“Porky’s Cafe” is also shown on Discovery Family since it’s in the Public Domain.
Those were the first two Porky Pig cartoons that aired on Discovery Family which were in the Public Domain for the first time, both in the original B&W version, no redrawns or computer colorized.

How ironic that the 1968 remake is in worse condition than the original from 1941.

It was rushed. They should've waited until the 1980's when Turner made 'his' redrawn attempt with Popeye (1933-1943). He didn't do any better.

I saw it on Discovery Family earlier today, and it’s just the original B&W version of this cartoon with the original opening and closings for real, better than this abstract W7 titles from 1967 where it plastered over the original LT theme instead of using Bill Lava’s version.

I have this on a Porky Pig VHS by Diamond Entertainment Corp. This is the only cartoon to have the 1967-69 W7 titles. What’s weird is that they used the W7 opening from The Impatient Patient instead of the original W7 opening the redrawn version of Porky's Bear Facts. Some of the clips are a bit damaged on this VHS.

    •  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

KellyLynn Anderson I’m guessing the reason why they did that is because of the warpy audio.

I find it interesting that most of the redrawn Porkys have the "in technicolor" removed from the opening. I wonder if WB prepared a custom variant just for redrawn Porkys.

By television rules, any theatrical cartoon short can not be aired to TV until after four years of its released. W-B cartoons were on public domain during the early-mid 1970's.

I remember watching those every Saturday morning (which were them original LATAM distribution prints produced in the late '60s BTW) on WAPA-TV back in the '80s. They looked OK to me as a kiddo but now they look rather weird, even without their corresponding music tracks attached to 'em.

I did see several more with the W7 titles as well. And I even seen on one of William Oesco's videos that the original existing copy of the the redrawn version of "The Timid Toreador" actually had the W7 titles shown, but for some odd reason had the opening from Tom Turk and Daffy with the AAP titles shown at the beginning before jumpcutting to the W7 titles.
On the PD DVD copies, they edited it by only showing the LT opening titles from Tom Turk and Daffy, before fading to the cartoon's title card.

Now look at Discovery Family, they did a great job of airing three Porky Pig cartoons in B&W, not the crappy redrawns and the computer colorized crap, just the B&W cartoons as it was originally shown. Back on Tuesday, they aired two more B&W Porky Pig cartoons on there, not the redrawn and the computer colorized BS, just the B&W originals. Kudos to Discovery Family for doing a great job showing these original B&W “Looney Tunes” on there.
