Sergio Perez’ British Grand Prix was an utter disaster, there is no other way of spinning it. A trip to the gravel in Q1 brought out the red flag, ending his qualifying and putting him to the back of the grid for the start of Sunday’s race. In a fast car that was expected to suit the Silverstone circuit, he was expected to make decent headway through the pack but failed to do so and was relegated to Max Verstappen’s tyre strategy test piece as the rain started coming down. It is the 6th bad result in a row for Perez and despite a two year contract that is still hot out of the printer, the pressure on his job is mounting. The performance clauses in that new contract were leaked during the British Grand Prix and now the Mexican driver is at serious risk of losing his seat mid season.
