Nuki Uchi No Ken (3ème kata) : 1. Ici, le pratiquant dégaine le sabre (nukitsuke) puis saute alors qu'il faut dégainer en sautant, c'est-à-dire "hors-sol"; 2. Plus important, le pratiquant exécute la coupe pendant le saut, puis retombe à vide, alors que la coupe doit être "pleine" (pardon pour le jeu de mots) jusqu'en bas, car c'est bien là que se trouve l'adversaire dont on a évité l'attaque en sautant. Happo Ken (6ème kata) : Ici, le pratiquant se lève en dégainant alors qu'il doit rester en posture Iai Goshi lors du nukitsuke et se lever ensuite tout en gardant les mains dans la même position : main gauche sous la main droite. La rapidité de ce pratiquant est certes impressionnante, mais est-elle conforme à une exécution correcte des katas quand on voit que Risuke Otake Sensei, même à son plus jeune âge, respecte de courts temps de pause entre les mouvements. Ne pas confondre rapidité et vivacité.
I have a personal question on this. I thought this style was only practiced in Japan due to being a school that has direct lineage to its roots. Also the style of your attack seems different than the actual school when I watched a documentary on this specific school. So I'm curious on its root, my own ryuha is musoshindenryu I ai do. By no means do I want to state any discredit, however I am leery when I see something suggest it is connected to kenjutsu in such a way. Specially with an art that seemed to not openly express it's secrets to the public. More so I am asking origin and truth out of inquiring nature. Please respond let me know, but as I ai do artist I would love to learn more of other ryuha to mix with my own swordsmanship!
From my understanding, it's practical when exercising your core strength, and it has traditional and historical value. Currently, it has no practical value, but sword fighting has little to no practical value too. I'm not Iaidoka, so I don't have that much insight about it, but in Aikido, weapon training is essential as weapons are a very important teaching tool - centralization, movement, angle and stance are faster to grasp from kenjutsu and jojutsu, and are practical in taijutsu (unarmed techniques).
as per the Katori Shinto Ryu book by Risuke Otake...the “seated position” or Iai Goshi is actually a scout’s position meant for making surprise attacks while hidden in bushes or tall grass.
Well, from my understanding, it has to do with the fact that, historically, the indoor commons had low ceilings, and the standard for sitting, even waking indoors, traditionally, would be from a seiza's position. It's something of historical and traditional value. Besides, exercises from a seiza position are useful for exercising core strength. I'm not an Iaidoka, for my background is Aikido, but we do have several kenjutsu exercises. Please bare in mind that this is my interpretation of the seiza's techniques, but I might be wrong.
Considering we don't carry swords around and no longer worry about being jumped at night by a rival samurai. There is no way to prove if it is or isn't.

Makes them harder to see at night or when hiding in tall grass and your enemy comes close. Surprise attack
