  • The Cubs lost to the Brewers 10-6 on Wednesday night in what was Shota Imanaga's first MLB loss. The lefty allowed seven earned runs on 10 days rest, and Anthony Pasquale and Mick Gillespie get into the Cubs' decision to skip his start.
Kyle Hendricks was strong for two innings out of the bullpen but allowed three earned runs in his third frame. Ian Happ homered but stellar defensive plays from Milwaukee robbed Christopher Morel of a home-run and Dansby Swanson and Happ of extra-bases, as the Cubs just can't seem to find the big hit.
In minor league news, Pete Crow-Armstrong is eligible to be called up to the big leagues again. Cade Horton exited his start in Iowa with back soreness. Ethan Roberts has been excellent in AAA. Ed Howard had four hits in South Bend. Michael Arias was promoted from AA to AAA and Matt Mervis powered the Iowa Cubs to a win last night.
Cubs look to split the series @ the Brewers today at 12:10 CT
Jameson Taillon (3-2, 2.58 ERA) vs Colin Rea (4-2, 3.98 ERA)

Not very smart to take a pitcher out of his rhythm. What were Cubs thinking? Or were they thinking at all?

With all their adversities, some self inflicted, Cubs still have a chance to split the series against the Division leader on the road. Need a big outing by Taillon and some rekindled early season offensive production to get the win today and regroup at home.

I’m very discouraged with the every move with the team management/ the approach , the no urgency, it’s important that they get this straightened out immediately before we’re completely done!

Cubs need to fire all these strength and conditioning trainers they have. It is unbelievable how many players Majors & Minors they have that have had to spend on the IL this year!

I know I shouldn't say this but the Bewers are a better team except for cf. I've been paying attention to them for weeks and they bounce back very well. I still don't think Armstrong is the answer but I think they should have him lead off against righties and just bunt if he can. Steal!!!

Let’s trade one of our young pitchers from Wicks; Hayden; Assad; Keegan; Brown(really hesitate though) for a star closer like Cleveland’s Clase , A’s Miller; Washington’s Finnegan. Get closer set and then the rest 6-7-8th inning guys will be fall into places nicely. Hitting wise just have to wait for them to get better and the young guys to be ready. Look at Reds, young players need time to develop.

I Can take a loss much better if I see good baseball played. But all these base running blunders and balls not caught and leaving runners on base by whiffing at everything won’t do it. It’s getting very boring not to say frustrating. 😡

This year the pitching is way ahead of the hitting. Team average is .240 , lowest since the Gibson Era. Hope they come back to career average

Well what’s the problem with him needing rest in the first place? I get it and the rotation does have the luxury to be able to do this, but I hope he gets back to a more steady schedule. Horton going down with the back stinks for sure because what an embarrassment of riches for the Cubbies with the pitching lately! Question… what has Porter Hodge been doing in the minors before his callup? He a strictly reliever only?

How much longer do we have to put up with Gomes hitting .158. This dude raked last year and now couldn't get a hit off a Little Leaguer. Hey, Jed why don't you contact the Houston Cheaters and see if they'd part with Victor Caratini?

  • @firstlast9595
    @firstlast9595 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Shota not locating. It's going to happen at some point. Horton going down with a back issue is better than an arm. Johnson and Ryan had back issues throughout their career. Hope it means his mechanics are good. Swanson has never been good with the bat and is the Jason Heyward of shortstops. Completely fleeced the Cubs.
This is the problem when you listen to fans. Demanded Happ, Bellinger, and a "big 3" shortstop. Now we have a bunch of below average nice personalities who are blocking guys who probably need a shot at the big roster. Hope with warm weather come hot bats, but they're playing like team who'll miss the playoffs by a game or four.

Can the front office and the team sit down and binge watch the 2016 team in the regular season. I’m so frustrated with this team playing to not lose. 2016 didn’t care about losing, they played with wreck less abandon and just loved the game. I want that team back. This team did that the last half last year but they have forgotten how to love the game.

As a fan I am sick to my stomach watching our highest paid offensive players not hitting, running. Counsell needs to start managing each game like it was a playoff game. The team struggled and Ross almost got us to the playoffs. Counsell is more worried about what's going to happen 2 years from now. It's nuts!

    I don’t think it’s a young man game.. it’s a velocity man’s game.
Verlander is old and was killing it. Hendricks doesn’t have the velocity.
Also what’s with always pointing the finger at Suzuki? Happ, Hoerner (whom is one of my favorite players), Tauchman, all suck right and aren’t playing all that well.. but yet they get nothing?

Kyle Hendricks made his debut on July 10, 2014. If I'm not mistaken, he has to stay on the team until July 10th of this year to get his pension. Maybe that's why they're keeping him around. Kaplan mentioned that.
