I had same problem, wrote to their support, they changed my plan to fixed 28 USD fee annual package and which I cancelled next day and I managed to reimburse all paid money. But this is the worst user experience I ever had. Adobe will loose customer base, if they don't change this scammy approach
Hi @nindarsk, Thank you for sharing that. Someone else mentioned that they did a similar thing, and it worked. I am pinning your comment so others may try doing the same when they get trapped this way by Adobe. I agree that it is not so much about the money but about how it is done-in the most sneaky way. If many people have the same problem, Adobe should change how they advertise and promote their products. Unfortunately, due to greed, they don't, and many people end up paying and feeling frustrated rather than trying to get this resolved. So sad. I am glad you were able to get out of it!🍀
I called my credit card company, and they set up a three-way call with Adobe. Adobe switched me to a cheaper plan, but the main catch is that since it's a new plan, I now have a 14-day window to cancel and get a refund. Shame on Adobe!
Same thing happened to me 5 years ago. They have made it impossible to cancel the subscription and I finally cancelled last night after threatening to sue them.
Were you automatically renewed each year? How come that was 5 years? Sounds like a nightmare scenario. Glad you were able to finally cut the Adobe cord. So unfortunate, it only happened after you threatened to sue. 🍀
@@akistepinska the first two years I actually wanted the Photoshop and Illustrator license for work I was doing. The third year I tried to cancel and was hit with the " if you cancel, you will be charged 120$ early cancellation fee". So year 4 I was ready to cancel. I followed the directions on their site to cancel but the actual screenshots they provided were not accessible for my account. I reached out to their customer service who assured me that it was cancelled. After I realized it wasn't , I contacted them 4 more times. Finally, I emailed them twice. Never cancelled. I gave up because of the amount of time and effort just wore me down. It wasn't until the other day that I finally threatened a lawsuit and would not accept anything less than an entire year refund. They finally agreed. Not sure what specifically made them cave, but assume it was the number of legal actions that have been taken against them lately in the US.
Of course, Wayne ♡, that’s why I wanted to share this because even if they caught me and you, maybe at least a few people will find out in time. And at least now, we are aware that something like that is going on, that when you sign-up for a monthly plan, it could include a yearly contract. Some companies are offering so many options that only make things confusing to consumers, and unfortunately, disclosures are often either hidden or in some small font or not spelled out in ‘lay terms.’ But now we know and can watch out for this. (งᓀ‸ᓂ)ง
Same thing happened to us with the Stock photo subscription. Questionable business practice to say the least as it is not clear. We tried to cancel and luckily we also had a CC subscription. Once we threatened to cancel both they backed down and let us cancel Stock photo without penalty. These days there are good alternatives to Adobe which we will be looking into.
Hi ArtistShare, I completely agree with you that if a product is truly great, companies shouldn't have to resort to trapping people or using unclear terms and conditions. If many people are making the same "mistake," it's likely that the problem lies with the product contract and pricing rather than the customers. I'm glad to hear that you were able to cancel one of these products without penalty. ( ^◡^)っ
@@akistepinska adobe stock photos are extremely limited in my opinion. After you get rid of all the mostly nude pictures your selection for quality photos falls dramatically. Then to get sucked into Adobe Pro is just wrong. They make the 'thereforewiths and thuswise's' so long and in Olde English, er that of Beowulf ... requiring an attorney, by the time you get to their gotcha, your eyes are flagging.
I am sorry that also happened to you@@ClaireOSullivanAuthor Hopefully, we both learned from this experience and will be on the lookout for this in the future. I am not sure what type of stock photos you need but I use Canva for stock photos, videos, graphics, etc.. I am not an affiliate, just a user, but find it very useful for the everyday needs of a creator. Good Luck 🍀
I learned the hard way as well many year back but more as a Photoshop user, The prepaid one was the best option by far, sure its the whole year cost - but least to say if i cancel there i do not have to think of any fees by doing so. Most weirdest and a uncomfortable experienced i had and something i never seen before and wish no one to trip into it. Wish tho they had a normal subscription like any other services. But certainly it has teaching me to always read the ToS ( Terms of Service ) when it comes to payment at any services with a subscription module after that. This is a very important video to educate any people that has consider of using any adobe products. Thank you for distributing this video so that many more learns bout it before many falls for it like many of us did.
Thank you so much @Eaglebrace, Adobe knows their pricing ads are confusing because many people make the same mistake, but because this is making them money, they leave it as is. These outrageous cancellation fees make it very hard for consumers to cancel subscriptions. FTC is investigating Adobe about this, but I wonder if anything will come out of this. It has been over a year: www.consumeraffairs.com/news/consumers-still-complain-that-some-companies-make-it-hard-to-cancel-a-service-111522.html For now, unfortunately, it is on the consumer to read and re-read everything we subscribe to. Cheers & Good luck. 🍀
ThisThey got me too. Thought I was signing up for $20.00 monthly plan. I didn’t realize I was signing up for a full year contract. I’ll be calling on Monday to get this sorted out.
After 2 months using Adobe Acrobat at $20 per month, Adobe CHARGED $90 CANCELLATION FEE! Outrageous!! I will never buy any Adobe product for the rest of my life.
Hi @@RetrieverTrainingAlone, I am sorry that also happened to you. This was also so frustrating when that happened to me. Adobe knows their pricing is confusing because so many people make the same mistake. They keep it that way because it earns them money. Try reaching out to the customer support (use the chat option first and see where it gets you: helpx.adobe.com/support.html), and see if they would lower the price for you. However, be aware that often if they give you a lower price they will RESTART the contract for 1 year from that time. So do a calculation if that would even make sense. Good luck. 🍀
There's actually w way around this Termination Fee, that you can do WITHOUT cancelling your Credit Card. When you go to the Cancellation page, you want to go until the "Special Offers" page. There, you want to find "Switch to a new plan. Select ANY plan, regardless if its higher or lower. Now, go through the process of switching over to that plan. Once the accounts switched, you want to go to the cancel page for that plan you just signed up for. Adobe treats this like a new subscription, so you can cancel this as you are within 14 days. Hope this helped some people.
I was thinking the same thing because initially you have 14 days but when you switch to a new plan you restart the calendar year but you also restart the terms which states cancel before 14 days to be free so that's pretty smart to do but lets hope they don't catch on and say you have to complete a month before it takes effect or something dumb. has anyone done this and it worked? I currently have pro and have half a year left on it.
So many people feel very much the same, Arorah. The expensive subscription model and the fact that there aren't many good alternatives available really hurt us all as consumers.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I did not know about this at all. I was consider canceling my plans, but I decided to check first. I've got a few months left on my plans, so I'll wait until I've reached that before canceling the plan.
Hi, thank you for your comment. I'm sorry you're also dealing with this issue. Make sure to cancel in time to avoid Adobe automatically renewing your subscription, as that can happen. Maybe put on your calendar to keep track when the subscription is about to end. Good luck! 🍀
Thank you Aki. Seriously, this is unfair on dealing with their customers. Artist has no brain or capability to group and sue Adobe. This is so fucking frustrating. One thing is, they email at the last month of your plan. If you miss it, you keep paying for it.
So true @lightinmind! I am so glad you pointed it out that it is essential to ensure cancellation before the renewal date. The practices employed by Adobe to retain individuals on plans they neither want nor use is unfair and deceptive. FTC is investigating these dark pattern practices. FTC article: consumer.ftc.gov/consumer-alerts/2022/11/tried-cancel-service-couldnt-learn-steps-take Hopefully, this will change soon. For the time being we need to share our experiences so others don't make the same mistake. Good Luck!🍀
Do I have to pay the annual monthly payment every month or can I just keep my card locked? Will it cause the fee price to go up?? I’m so confused and I wish Adobe wouldn’t scam their customers into plans like this
This is a scam. The same happened to me, I wanted to cancel my account and realised I will be charged a lot of money. I couldn’t remember the contract I signed but now I realise Adobe is misleading people on purpose. The result - upset costumer is leaving this company and will tell others to do it too. This should be illegal.
Hi had the same problem. I was thinking what if I changed from pro plan to the cheaper pdf pack plan then cancel that one? But I’m not clear on whether it also has a year long commitment attached to it as well
Hi @leecoycoley4840, Most of the time Adobe will let you switch plans at some rate but they will restart your subscription. That is what they did to me when I realized I signed up for the wrong plan and could not cancel, I reached out to their customer support (use the chat option first and see where it gets you: helpx.adobe.com/support.html), and so they said they understood that I made a mistake and could let me get a better price, but they RESTARTED my contract. So if you agree to the price reduction or change in product, make sure you understand whether they will restart your subscription. If you are halfway done, see if that makes financial sense to get a better price but now a yearly subscription again. Good luck. 🍀
I too made the mistake of signing up for the Annual, paid monthly but for all apps!! When you visit the cancel early page where I live, it re-diredt you to the local page and that table of cancelation fee's disappears! Can only see that if i ignore the prompt to re-direct and stay on the page for the USA. Its a great product but their subscription signup is at a minimum confusing, bordering on misleading
Sorry that also happened to you @orangufran, so what happens in your region when you try to cancel? Are you able to? do you get a message telling you that you will need to pay a cancellation fee or not? Either way, I know they will let you change your package and lower the price, So doing so only makes sense if you are early in your sign-up, otherwise, you have to see what makes better financial sense for you. Good Luck!🍀
I started watching this video and then I got an idea. I just changed my plan and cancelled it so I will get my money back. I like creative cloud but its to expensive rigtht now for me so I have to wait until I get a race where I work. But that cancel fee is just to scummy to be honest
Scummy is the word! Adobe's constant dismissal of customer complaints is frustrating. Their focus on $profit$ overshadows user experience. I'm glad you adjusted your plan to minimize losses.🍀
Unfortunately i had to learned the hard way, i didn't sign up for any monthly charge i just wanted to use the free trial but some how they had my card charge for an unreasonable amount, when i tried to cancel the subscription they kept saying update payment for what exactly 😤... I haven't even waited until the trial was ended just realized they scam me.
Hi Aki, At around 8:21 of your video, Adobe is offering $0 USD for two months. If the plan is chosen, is it possible to cancel the whole subscription without the risk of paying the included annual fees? Adobe claims to say that cancelling within the first 14 days of a purchase would negate any additional charges and I'm hoping if there is any loophole to avoid such outrageous payments. Otherwise, it was a very informative and helpful video for others experiencing the same issue. Thanks!
Hi @skrone8614, You can try going through the Cancellation process (until the Confirmation screen), and what happened, at that point that you mentioned, , like 2 months at $0 for the subscription, but Usually, will the contract after the promotion period, that is what happened to me when I used the Chat support and renegotiated my contract. They from $19.99 to $14.99 Someone said that when you reach out to them and say that you need to cancel they will cancel it for you, but I have not done this myself and can't verify whether that works or not. It may be worth a shot. I recommend using Chat Support to find out exactly what happens if you take one of the special offers. Good Luck!🍀
@akistepinska Hi, I have instead reached out to customer support on the matter. I was given a full refund and cancellation of the subscription due to providing a valid institution email and in this case, provided them with my student email with the attached cloud subscription. It seems the customer service does work, as long as you show proof that you are having multiple of the same subscriptions in which Adobe finds as "not necessary". Unfortunately I cannot fully confirm if not providing a valid email address will work and may still be liable to pay the cancellation fees. Again, I appreciate your help in this and I hope this will help spread awareness in helping others decide if it is reasonable to commit to Adobe's subscription plans. Thank You! 😊
Thank you for letting me and others know that you were able to cancel@@skroneXYZ by verifying your subscription at work/school. I am so glad it worked out for you! ( ^◡^)っ
I was charged for lightroom and then when I spoke to them they offered 3 months free. I was caution and said I would only take the offer if they cancelled my subscription afterwards to which they said they would. I even checked on the manage my plans and it said I would lose access to all premium features after this and yet they have charged me. The only way I managed to contact them was by twitter and even then they said they couldn't cancel it because the actual subscription had started up 14 days before this and then they charged me so even though I had only just been charged a day ago they said I couldn't get a refund. What a scam.
This bug has recently been introduced if you view the Adobe site in Russian, because they can't incur the subscription charge anymore, so the free trial does not expire if you log-in with a new Russian Adobe account.
I just found out about this SCAM. My mom, that doesn't know much about computers, signed up for BOTH, Adobe Pro and Adobe Standard without realizing that she had to cancel the free trial. Now she has to pay 170€ for cancelling the program that she even did not need!! Is there a way not to pay this fee??
ouch @Enrique-jr4yq...I help my Mom with tech stuff, and I get it when older folks struggle with technology. Sometimes, my Mom unknowingly keeps paying for things she doesn't use because she forgets about automatic renewals or monthly charges. It's usually not too tough to cancel streaming services or channels like Tennis Channel, but Adobe is another beast all together. To sort out the Adobe issue, start by using their chat support (helpx.adobe.com/support.html). Explain the problem and ask them to cancel it. They might not cancel both, but they might cancel at least one. If that doesn't work, you can try to re-negotiate the contract but be careful as that often RESTARTS your contract time. You might get a lower price, but you'd commit for another 12 months from that date. Luckily, you caught this early, so your Mom won't pay too much for too long. One person mentioned they told Adobe they were already getting the subscription through work, and Adobe canceled it for them. It's worth a shot, though I don't know if that'll work. Good Luck 🍀
Hi @Dobby7588, I am sorry that also happened to you. Good luck. 🍀
After calling them up to complain about the unexpected cancellation fee, they offered me a somewhat helpful solution in giving me the next 3 months of the 'annual plan, paid monthly' for free. Not ideal but at least it gets me slightly closer to the end of the year contract, giving me a chance to pay a smaller cancellation fee in September
same issue - all I wanted was the same free version of adobe my husband has and voila, there are none. Got roped into both the Adobe Stock photos and the Acu pro adobe. The Adobe Photos went away (as in, for whatever reason, they stopped tapping my account), but I was about to cancel the plan, but it looks like it started last year, May, meaning I am into another year's contract. Smacks forehead. REALLY glad I came across the video before I cancelled because I had signed up for the monthly (gee, the annual paid monthly) before I knew it. Thank you for sharing your story. OK so my question is, can I change the plan from the 29.99 to the 12.99 midstream without a cancellation fee? Or do I have to wait til next year? Thirty bucks is thirty bucks, and everyone is cutting back these days.
Hi @ClaireOSullivanAuthor, I think $30 is a lot, especially if you don't use it much. You can use the chat option first and see where it gets you: _helpx.adobe.com/support.html._ Most of the time, Adobe will let you switch plans or get a reduction *BUT sometimes they will RESTART your subscription*. They did that to me when I realized I signed up for the wrong plan and could not cancel. I got a better deal, but the contract started again. *That makes financial sense if you are early in the contract but if you are at the end of it, it may not be beneficial.* Good Luck🍀
Companies like Adobe and Carly OBD readers use the same slimy tactics. I had Adobe billing my CC so I toggled off the CC. I then told them I have an 89.99 fee to turn it back on so they can bill that cancellation fee. I still haven't been paid but i don't pay for Adobe anymore either.😂
Hi, You can definitely try doing that, but it sometimes won't work as they may ask you to confirm you stopped it with the third party first. Some places also charge for stop payment options, but it is worth a try. shorturl.at/Z2Ohi Another option for the future is to use virtual numbers generated by your credit card company. These allow you more control, letting you delete and end them at any point. Contact your bank to explore your options. Legally though, FTC says that "canceling an automatic payment does not cancel the amount you owe." privacy.com/blog/how-to-cancel-all-subscriptions-on-your-debit-card
Criminal - it says my yearly subscription runs out this month. So I though ok it will finish. Then I looked back and I been paying it for a year and a half. So it never actually ended... I can't get out of NOT paying the termination fee? Criminals.
It is Criminal! As I mentioned in the video, Adobe automatically renews subscriptions unless you manually OPT-out. It should be the other way around! You should have to OPT-in if you wanted automatic renewal. I'm sorry this happened to you. Try calling them and telling them you were not aware of this, you already paid more than a year. Good Luck🍀
Yes, that's correct. If you cancel an Adobe subscription before the 1-year mark, there is a cancellation fee that decreases as you get closer to the end of the term. To avoid being charged for the next year, you’ll need to cancel before the renewal date. Make sure to mark the renewal date on your calendar so you don’t miss it. Good Luck 🍀
Adobe is not much transparent, i received my cancel fee back but i continue my subscripton but i definetly gonna switch another stock footage platform.
I am not sure what type of stock footage you need, but take a look at Canva - they have videos, photos, etc. I do have an annual subscription, and that's where I get all my stock photos, videos and do my thumbnails. You don't need to subscribe - they have a very generous free version. See if that works for you. Good luck!🍀 www.canva.com/features/free-stock-videos/
@@akistepinska Yeah i would definelty switch to Canva after my subscription ends. It half price of Adobe stock and bad experience a once = loses customer.
I am really thinking of leaving adobe for editing and switiching to davinci which is free as now adode has become really greedy and they are charging insanly on their product
I have been doing the Adobe alternative PDF editors videos because I feel exactly the same. I know that Adobe will have to change its pricing models sooner or later once other companies bring better and less expensive products to market, but for now, we have to keep searching for alternative options. Here is a link from Georgia Tech to several alternative free, open-source software for all kinds of tasks (Davinci is listed ;-): it.iac.gatech.edu/open-source-alternatives
Hello - contact the customer support - I definitely will think they will be able to reinstate it if you ask. Here is a link to Customer Support info & phone number I found: helpx.adobe.com/manage-account/using/cancel-subscription.html 1 (800) 833-6687
what I don't understand is why no one has ever thought of creating a foundation and all together buying a software like affinity and making it open-source, the large numbers of the user base would allow us to have excellent and constantly evolving products. A good example is blender. And we need a foundation that directs development, pays programmers, ux designers,... A few years of donations and then we get out of subscriptions
Hey , i am in trail period of adobe stock and i want to cancel without penalty. I just signed but never used it. But now they are showing early cancel feel 100 dollars.. can anyone suggest me
That is such an unpleasant think to see when you try to cancel. It happened to me too. Hi @SandeepKumarxl2g, Try reaching their their customer support (use the chat option first and see where it gets you: helpx.adobe.com/support.html), and say that you didn't even use any of the free images in the trial. I would think they can check that on their end. If that won't work, you can try to re-negotiate the contract but be careful as that often RESTARTS your contract time. So you would get lower price but the contract restarts as of that date for 12 months. Share what happened and good luck. 🍀
Had the same problem, essentially you have to play hard ball with them over the chat. This is absolutely an un-ethical practice on their end and you need to let them know that. They’ll try giving you a few other offers, tell them no. You will only be satisfied as a customer if they cancel your stock photo subscription without a penalty fee. They will fold, as they’re currently being investigated by the FCC for this scam as of December, 2023.
The way I see it, it's a bulk/commitment purchase practice.. in smaller business, it's like buying in bulk to get cheaper price (this is closer to one time annual fee) or commiting to be a regular so you get the regular-customer treatment which is cheaper price. It a commitment contract and to some degree it's fair to have a cancellation fee over contract 'breach'.. However, wtf adobe? 1. Holy shit the amount, that should be illegal. 2. They should have put important information such as cancelation fees at the front! With multiple 're-question' pop ups like when they're about to cancel, that customer is signing a commitment contract for the cheaper price.. that otherwise, if the customer doesn't want to commit to a 1 year contract, they should opt for the monthly subscription 3. Some Service understandably should be subscription based.. except for the cloud service (I understand it needs physical server rent/maintenance) and maybe the coming AI service (also need computing power). Adobe's base pdf products including edits shouldn't be subscription based.. there are already many other alternatives anyway, I use those..
Please help me. I already cancelled my subscription and they are charging me early cancellation fee 5x the monthly fee. I haven’t used the products because I mistakenly downloaded it and didn’t use it please help me
I am glad something changed for us consumers. I just visited their page and I see a note below the plan saying "", then they also have an (i) information icon with extra information when you hover it saying "" Thanks for your comment!🍀
I called to cancel my pro plan after being in the plan for 6 months but they offered me pro for 9.99 a month which is nice but it starts a whole new annual plan. I can tell the guy was working from home somewhere in another country because I could hear vehicle horns going off like traffic and I had a good ear for how certain horns on certain vehicles sound so I already felt like something was going on because the offer was too attractive and of course no one is going to try and help me get out of my contract. he kept avoiding certain questions I would ask like if I are today and decide to cancel in a few months will I still pay 50% of that? he said yes so it was a new contract and him trying to keep me on a plan.
YES! It is essential to ensure cancellation before the renewal date. The practices employed by Adobe to retain individuals on plans they neither want nor use is unfair and deceptive. Thank you for sharing, someone else mentioned that this worked for them also. It is definitely worth a try if Adobe won't have to verify your 'work email' or something like that.
So if i have an annual payment method that started in March i should cancel my plan in january to pay the least amount of money? could you please help me in that i am not sure i totally get it and i dont want to be trapped in that cycle
i just cancelled both ps and illustrator and they are charging me a cancel fee also . how the f$#% can they do that...freaking BS!!! i really like there products but looks like wont be anymore. scam
Translated to English: God suffices me for them, it came with me and they charged a cancellation fee.. I no longer subscribe to Adobe, even though I love Photoshop I totally feel you! The product is good, but the service and support is failing us customers! 🍀
That is great to hear @genevieveEL? Did you have the annual paid monthly at first? If you can, please share how you went about it so others could also avoid the cancellation fees. Thank you for sharing!🍀
Yes, I needed it for a document and forgot to cancel it. It was the yearly paid monthly. I’m usually thorough and I can’t believe I got caught, so my $19.99 came out for the mth. Fair enough but I was about to cancel and I saw $108 cancellation fee!!! Upon reading some comments here, I decided to “upgrade”. When I upgraded I was able to cancel it about five mins later without a fee. I believe you can choose any plan, even cheaper and it will still work.
Hello. The same victim of this Adobe scam here. Photoshop used to be pretty indispensable for me. Not anymore though. Seems like Adobe is drowning in the sea of competition now so are desperate to grab any money whichever way they can. Well, it's a bye bye time Adobe. What a shame you've ended it in such an ugly way.
Hi @someperson4712, some other people also suggested it but have not heard back what actually happened. Even after you cancel an account or credit card, the bank or credit card company may still accept recurring charges. My husband and I discovered this a few months ago while canceling one of our credit cards. I could not believe that a canceled credit card could still receive recurring charges, but it turns out it's possible. Just check with your bank whether that would happen to be sure. Here is an info: www.helpwithmybank.gov/help-topics/bank-accounts/electronic-transactions/automatic-withdrawal-preauthorized-payments/automatic-withdrawal-closed.html Someone suggested calling them and saying that you have a subscription through work so this is a duplicate subscription for you, lead to a cancellation, but it was not confirmed whether they had to provide work email address as verification. Another person mentioned that they when through the process of 'changing' the subscription and once they did that, they were able to cancel, but I have not verified that it worked. It is worth trying something. Good luck! 🍀and share if something worked for you.
Please I´m really confused about this. Today I cancelled the plan for 19,99, and I got 70euro fee. does it means I have to pay 70 every moth till the end of the plan?
Hi @ThemeZiggKM, So the plan you had was for $19.99, correct? How long did you have it for? I was calculating in my worksheet, and from my calculations it indicates that you had it for about four months and this would be your 5th month, correct? The 70 Euro fee is calculated as half of the remaining payment term. It's based on 7 months at $19.99 per month (1/2 x 7 x $19.99 = $69.99, roughly 70 Euro). This fee is a one-time penalty for breaking the contract. You shouldn't be charged monthly fees afterward. Let me know if that is not clear. Good Luck!🍀
I somehow managed to not get fees and this is how.Go for cancelation and change plan if its expensive.Change it to the cheapest plan and the cancel that plan and thats it
My husband got into this mess as well. After seeing your video I had him go talk to a rep to get ours at a cheaper price. We were able to get a somewhat more affordable deal for the remaining months but couldn't get fully out of it.
So glad, Kaylin; you guys also called trying to negotiate the lower monthly rate. Same here, I could not get out of the contract, but at least it was cheaper. Sadly I only used it like three months out of the year few days here and there...what a waste but lesson learned. I read the sign-up contracts more carefully now. Thank you!
Way what? How much was your monthly charge? What package was that? How long have you subscribed to this plan? That is unbelievable! Sorry, that is happening to you @simplyeleza! 🍀
@akistepinska I was on the 63 dollars per month. Actually, I just learned it was an annual plan when unsubscribing. I have been using it since January 2023 and it is now January 2024. I wonder why it is not free as they mention on their unsubscribing fee.
That really sucks. If you're a student, check if your school offers Adobe access. If they do, contact Adobe and inform them that you have access through your school, making your individual subscription unnecessary. Some people have successfully terminated their contracts by explaining that they already have a duplicate subscription through their workplace. It's worth trying. Good Luck🍀
@@akistepinska wow. I found out I in fact do have a plan on my school account and was able to get a refund on my most recent transaction and was able to cancel the plan without the fees! Almost just lost $90. Wouldn’t have figured this out without your help. Thank you!
I dont understand how any of this is surprising to people. The fee is just you saying i want it to end now so ill pay all at once that is left to pay instead of monthly. If you buy a car in monthly rates you also either have to pay the monthly rate or all at once if you dont want to pay monthly anymore. And with every subscription out there you have to pay a lot more if you dont do the annual plan... You subscribe for the annual plan which makes the monthly price cheaper and then expect that there will be no consequences if you use it liek the usual motnhly plan
I see what you are saying @flaimzz9408, and it is true that paying a fee to end a subscription early is a way to cover the remaining costs, but the main issue that I and many people have is the lack of transparency and fairness of such fees. In some cases, the fees are disproportionately high, making it difficult for people to opt out of subscriptions they no longer wish to use. Additionally, companies should take responsibility for clearly disclosing cancellation fees to avoid misunderstandings. If many people unintentionally select the annual-paid-monthly plan, thinking it's the monthly plan, it reflects an issue with how the company presents its options. This is an issue that the White House is trying to curb also "Surprise termination and cancellation fees can harm free and fair competition by increasing switching costs" - www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/blog/2022/10/26/the-presidents-initiative-on-junk-fees-and-related-pricing-practices/ Fair Trade Commission also investigates cancellation fees that "trap consumers": www.ftc.gov/news-events/news/press-releases/2022/11/ftc-action-against-vonage-results-100-million-customers-trapped-illegal-dark-patterns-junk-fees-when-trying-cancel-service Thanks for the comment! That would make sense if the subscription lasted for the remainder of what you paid for, but it doesn't Essentially, you pay for a year but they cancel at the end of the current monthly cycle.
I called customer service and after offering me 3 months free and then $19.99 a month for the remainder, they agreed to waive my cancellation fee and cancel my service. I received a email acknowledging the cancellation but not the waiver of the fee so I hope they're not scamming me!
@@reginawright7552 that is even better, Regina! I think if they told you they are waiving it, they will honor it, it just may take a couple more days. Just look out for any charges on your credit card. Good luck🍀
I feel Adobe's monthly subscription plan is not very fair - it all hinges on the renewal date. I can understand that you might have to pay a cancellation fee for a plan if you have only been a subscriber for less than a year but I was under the impression that if you subscribed over a year, then you could cancel at any time. Boy was I wrong. As my renewal date is early May I need to cancel in April to avoid cancellation fees but if I forget to cancel by the renewal date then I get with a cancellation fee, regardless of the number of years I have been a subscriber. What an evil corrupt business model - Adobe are not trying to make friends. So I just tried to cancel my Premiere Pro subscription and was informed the cancellation fee would be very high and I now need to stick with it till the following year and cancel in April next year or pay a high cancellation fee. A fairer system would be for the cancellation fee to apply only within the first 12 months and past 12 months, then you should be able to cancel at any time and not this silly greedy method where you can get slugged a little or a lot depending on a date
Hi @patrickgamble9014, Your comment made me feel so frustrated and sad for you. It’s outrageous what Adobe is doing-there’s zero transparency, and the renewal process is ridiculous. Hundreds of customers are being tricked into this corrupt, greedy ecosystem Adobe has set up. On June 17th, The Federal Trade Commission is suing Adobe for this lack of disclosure, tricking customers into paying high cancellation fees and there may be a potential reimbursement for consumers who paid them. Here is the article: shorturl.at/Z31qv To File a Complaint against Adobe on BBB: shorturl.at/0C9nZ It is worth getting in touch with Adobe and see if they can cancel the service without the cancellation fees since you’ve already been a subscriber for over a year. helpx.adobe.com/contact.html Good luck, and I’m sorry you had to experience this shady practice.🍀

So true @riverswater5688! I read that 53% of software revenue comes from subscription models (staxbill.com/interesting-recent-statistics-on-the-subscription-business-model/). Companies are making a lot of money from this. Nowadays, buying a product once and using it for years is rare. Consumers need to keep track of their subscription end dates and be careful not to get AUTOMATICALLY RE-enrolled again! Had that happen to me also with other products. (-_-)ゞ FTC is trying to make the 'Click to Cancel' for recurring subscriptions & membership easier (www.ftc.gov/news-events/news/press-releases/2023/03/federal-trade-commission-proposes-rule-provision-making-it-easier-consumers-click-cancel-recurring). We see if that happens. In the meantime, I try to set a notification for two days before a subscription or trial ends with a cancellation link. Cheers!🍀
I really lost respect for adobe . They shouldn’t try to lock people into there services . I’m currently trying to resolve a billing dispute with them . 😔
That is definitely an idea, rainbow! lol Just be careful of another issue we encountered: even after you cancel an account or credit card, the bank or credit card company may still accept recurring charges. My husband and I discovered this a few months ago while canceling one of our credit cards. I could not believe that a canceled credit card could still receive recurring charges, but it turns out it's possible. I am definitely going to do a video on this. Just check with your bank whether that would happen to be sure. Can anyone share adobes customer service email or contact information. I’ve been having unauthorized charges on my accounts for 9 months now and my account isn’t even active. Pls I need to contact them. All attempts so far. To reach them has failed
I had same problem, wrote to their support, they changed my plan to fixed 28 USD fee annual package and which I cancelled next day and I managed to reimburse all paid money. But this is the worst user experience I ever had. Adobe will loose customer base, if they don't change this scammy approach
Hi @nindarsk,
Thank you for sharing that.
So sad.
I am glad you were able to get out of it!🍀
How many days did it take for the money to be returned?
seeing that i changed my mind and no subscription henceforth
I found your video AFTER the same thing happened to me. It’s a scam!
Of course, Wayne ♡, that’s why I wanted to share this because even if they caught me and you, maybe at least a few people will find out in time. And at least now, we are aware that something like that is going on, that when you sign-up for a monthly plan, it could include a yearly contract.

I learned the hard way as well many year back but more as a Photoshop user,
The prepaid one was the best option by far, sure its the whole year cost - but least to say if i cancel there i do not have to think of any fees by doing so.
Thank you so much @Eaglebrace,
Adobe knows their pricing ads are confusing because many people make the same mistake, but because this is making them money, they leave it as is. These outrageous cancellation fees make it very hard for consumers to cancel subscriptions. FTC is investigating Adobe about this, but I wonder if anything will come out of this. It has been over a year: www.consumeraffairs.com/news/consumers-still-complain-that-some-companies-make-it-hard-to-cancel-a-service-111522.html
For now, unfortunately, it is on the consumer to read and re-read everything we subscribe to. Cheers & Good luck. 🍀

Hi @@RetrieverTrainingAlone,
I am sorry that also happened to you.
Good luck. 🍀
Why didn’t you cancel your card? And can they sue you if you did?
I'd go through my credit card company
There's actually w way around this Termination Fee, that you can do WITHOUT cancelling your Credit Card. When you go to the Cancellation page, you want to go until the "Special Offers" page. There, you want to find "Switch to a new plan. Select ANY plan, regardless if its higher or lower. Now, go through the process of switching over to that plan. Once the accounts switched, you want to go to the cancel page for that plan you just signed up for. Adobe treats this like a new subscription, so you can cancel this as you are within 14 days. Hope this helped some people.
Almost cancelled my card to avoid the fee until i read this! Thanks!
Is it need to paid for new plan? I tried but it can't change
I was wondering if you could buy a gift card and just change it to that as payment method, and remove the original card? Anyone try this yet?
@@E85_STI I can confirm that this works! This method just saved me from a £300 Adobe fee😅
Never going back to adobe to matter what.
So many people feel very much the same, Arorah. The expensive subscription model and the fact that there aren't many good alternatives available really hurt us all as consumers.
We need to steal back what they secretly took.

But I’m not clear on whether it also has a year long commitment attached to it as well
Hi @leecoycoley4840,
Most of the time Adobe will let you switch plans at some rate but they will restart your subscription.
Good luck. 🍀
Hi I did it and it worked! No longer have the issue

Hi Aki,
At around 8:21 of your video, Adobe is offering $0 USD for two months. Thanks!
Hi @skrone8614,
You can try going through the Cancellation process (until the Confirmation screen), and what happened, at that point that you mentioned, , like 2 months at $0 for the subscription, but
Usually, will the contract after the promotion period, that is what happened to me when I used the Chat support and renegotiated my contract. They from $19.99 to $14.99
Someone said that when you reach out to them and say that you need to cancel they will cancel it for you, but I have not done this myself and can't verify whether that works or not.
Good Luck 🍀

Hi @ClaireOSullivanAuthor,
I think $30 is a lot, especially if you don't use it much. You can use the chat option first and see where it gets you: _helpx.adobe.com/support.html._
Most of the time, Adobe will let you switch plans or get a reduction *BUT sometimes they will RESTART your subscription*. They did that to me when I realized I signed up for the wrong plan and could not cancel. @@akistepinska good grief! thank you for this horror story. I'll never sleep again, and I am serious. Adobe is committing highway robbery.

Hi,
You can definitely try doing that, but it sometimes won't work as they may ask you to confirm you stopped it with the third party first. Some places also charge for stop payment options, but it is worth a try.

Another option for the future is to use virtual numbers generated by your credit card company. These allow you more control, letting you delete and end them at any point.

so I will have to cancel on the last month to not pay cancellation fee and not get billed for next year?
Yes, that's correct. If you cancel an Adobe subscription before the 1-year mark, there is a cancellation fee that decreases as you get closer to the end of the term.
To avoid being charged for the next year, you’ll need to cancel before the renewal date. Make sure to mark the renewal date on your calendar so you don’t miss it. Good Luck 🍀

With multiple 're-question' pop ups like when they're about to cancel, that customer is signing a commitment contract for the cheaper price.. that otherwise, if the customer doesn't want to commit to a 1 year contract, they should opt for the monthly subscription
I haven’t used the products because I mistakenly downloaded it and didn’t use it please help me
haha now they put the annual tag with subscription page . maybe thanks to you.
I am glad something changed for us consumers. I just visited their page and I see a note below the plan saying "", then they also have an (i) information icon with extra information when you hover it saying ""

Does the annual contract paid monthly (that sadly I signed on) renews automatically after one year if you don’t do anything?
YES! It is essential to ensure cancellation before the renewal date. The practices employed by Adobe to retain individuals on plans they neither want nor use is unfair and deceptive. FTC is investigating these dark pattern practices.
Here is an article on this (you are not alone @KitCatStudio): consumer.ftc.gov/consumer-alerts/2022/11/tried-cancel-service-couldnt-learn-steps-take
Just tell that your getting services from work they ll cancel the plan without fee.
Thank you for sharing, someone else mentioned that this worked for them also. It is definitely worth a try if Adobe won't have to verify your 'work email' or something like that.
Finally I Found your video !! Thank You So Much
So glad it helped! 🍀
So if i have an annual payment method that started in March i should cancel my plan in january to pay the least amount of money? could you please help me in that i am not sure i totally get it and i dont want to be trapped in that cycle
i just cancelled both ps and illustrator and they are charging me a cancel fee also . how the f$#% can they do that...freaking BS!!! i really like there products but looks like wont be anymore. scam
حسبي الله عليهم صارت معايا و اخدو رسوم الغاء .. ماعاد اشترك في ادوبي مع اني احب الفوتوشوب
Translated to English: God suffices me for them, it came with me and they charged a cancellation fee.. I no longer subscribe to Adobe, even though I love Photoshop
I totally feel you! The product is good, but the service and support is failing us customers! 🍀
2024 looking for answers…..I switched plans and then cancelled immediately. It worked.
It useful and Objective Video! Thank you!
Thank you for your comment Radoslav! (ㅅ´ ˘ `)
What is ''something'' happens to my payment method, and they have no way to charge me?
Hi @someperson4712, some other people also suggested it but have not heard back what actually happened.
Even after you cancel an account or credit card, the bank or credit card company may still accept recurring charges. My husband and I discovered this a few months ago while canceling one of our credit cards.
I could not believe that a canceled credit card could still receive recurring charges, but it turns out it's possible. Just check with your bank whether that would happen to be sure.

Someone suggested calling them and saying that you have a subscription through work so this is a duplicate subscription for you, lead to a cancellation, but it was not confirmed whether they had to provide work email address as verification.
Another person mentioned that they when through the process of 'changing' the subscription and once they did that, they were able to cancel, but I have not verified that it worked.
It is worth trying something. Good luck! 🍀and share if something worked for you.
@@akistepinska thanks, yeah I did the whole change subscription thing.
Please I´m really confused about this. Today I cancelled the plan for 19,99, and I got 70euro fee. does it means I have to pay 70 every moth till the end of the plan?
Hi @ThemeZiggKM,
So the plan you had was for $19.99, correct? How long did you have it for? I was calculating in my worksheet, and from my calculations it indicates that you had it for about four months and this would be your 5th month, correct?
The 70 Euro fee is calculated as half of the remaining payment term. It's based on 7 months at $19.99 per month (1/2 x 7 x $19.99 = $69.99, roughly 70 Euro).
This fee is a one-time penalty for breaking the contract. You shouldn't be charged monthly fees afterward.
Let me know if that is not clear. Good Luck!🍀
Happened to me also . Such a cheating from adobe
Thank you!
Just got asked to pay US$338.08 for a cancellation fee.
Dark Patterns.
Finally contacted them on twitter and they waived the fee for me.
That's great news@@ramaken254! There are a few reasons why social media can be good ;-) Thank you for sharing your case. 🍀
So dumb. My parents gave me $100 for my birthday and now I’m having to ask for a lot more to deal with this crap. This is very scummy.
Good Luck🍀
@@akistepinska that is really helpful. I’ll check it out. Thank you!
@@akistepinska wow. I found out I in fact do have a plan on my school account and was able to get a refund on my most recent transaction and was able to cancel the plan without the fees! Almost just lost $90. Wouldn’t have figured this out without your help. Thank you!
This video it’s really helpful 👍🏼 thanks Aki
This happend to me it was horrible
Sorry for the shared experience! I felt the same 🍀
I dont understand how any of this is surprising to people.
This is an issue that the White House is trying to curb also "Surprise termination and cancellation fees can harm free and fair competition by increasing switching costs" - www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/blog/2022/10/26/the-presidents-initiative-on-junk-fees-and-related-pricing-practices/

Thanks for the comment! Cheers 🍀
That would make sense if the subscription lasted for the remainder of what you paid for, but it doesn't Essentially, you pay for a year but they cancel at the end of the current monthly cycle.
Thanks for your helpful video! Same thing happened to me!
Good luck🍀
Great Content
Very useful video, thank you very much!
Thank you. I'm about to do the free trial with automatic renewal. Good thing I search how to unsubscribe before subscribing.
Hi @patrickgamble9014,
Your comment made me feel so frustrated and sad for you.
Here is the article: shorturl.at/Z31qv

It is worth getting in touch with Adobe and see if they can cancel the service without the cancellation fees since you’ve already been a subscriber for over a year.

The fact this video has to be made at all just shows how crappy adobe and their customer service is lol

Sadly - that is so true. Thank you for the comment!🍀
Thanks u so much your video was very helpful

I wouldn't be surprised if the US lawsuit focuses heavily on lack of transparency.
That is one of the things listed in the Federal Trade Commission lawsuit.

SCAM Company.
agree @Mariuslhlar...that Adobe is definitely not as transparent as it should be. ヽ(O_O )ノ
we should have never been charged to begin with. GREEDY company. whatever happened to buying a program and owning it outright?
So true @riverswater5688!
I read that 53% of software revenue comes from subscription models (staxbill.com/interesting-recent-statistics-on-the-subscription-business-model/).
Companies are making a lot of money from this. Nowadays, buying a product once and using it for years is rare. Consumers need to keep track of their subscription end dates and be careful not to get AUTOMATICALLY RE-enrolled again! Had that happen to me also with other products. (-_-)ゞ
FTC is trying to make the 'Click to Cancel' for recurring subscriptions & membership easier (www.ftc.gov/news-events/news/press-releases/2023/03/federal-trade-commission-proposes-rule-provision-making-it-easier-consumers-click-cancel-recurring).
It is we need a lawyer

I have banned Adobe for life
lol....I feel you @toram6210, sometimes we have to come to drastic measures when companies don't step up on their own. The marketplace is changing, and new companies with less strict options are coming in. Hopefully, Adobe's monopoly & high prices will come to an end soon.... or maybe not ಠ_ಠ
