You are so nice to share all your secrets! Lol most sticker shop owners are like I can’t share my printer or my sticker paper sources. Thanks for sharing all your awesome tips!!
Unfortunately I don’t think it would work with the quantity that I print. Some days I use 2-3 packages of ink so it would definitely bottleneck my business to have to wait for more ink to be shipped before printing more. Although for smaller shops, it’s definitely a great alternative!
Sara Marie oh thank you for the reply. They have an option that allows 700 pages per month. But your 100 % right. I love watching you videos btw 💕💕💕 For anyone else’s reading this. Hp instant Ink is good for starting up but another flaw I just thought about is that if the internet is no working the printer won’t work. (My internet is always working but some providers are not reliable )The instant ink is only good for a second printer. Also the Epson Eco tank printers are amazing it prints about 6000 colour and 7000 black pages. It’s just not as fast as HP. I worked at Bestbuy that’s why I’m so into printers lol 😂
I started selling stickers at Etsy by hand-cutting them, it got to the point where I was getting so exhausted and my shop started booming. So my Dad got me a Silhouette Cameo 3 for my birthday! Best thanggggg ever especially during finals week.
Thank you for sharing your tips! Also just in case someone here is looking into getting a cutting machine I want to say with all the videos I’ve watched I learn that with the silhouette machine you need lamps to provide more light for the sensors but for the cricut you sometimes have to be careful of having too much light.
I stumbled across these videos in my recommendations list. Every video that I have watched has been so clear and well explained and clearly shown. As I watch them I think to myself wow, this girl is very professional and so organized! She knows how to set up and run this business! Etsy shop goals!! This has been an idea in the back of my head for a while now and never have I seen such wonderfully informative and well though out videos. Sara, you are a pleasure to watch and listen to. Your ideas and your set up and procedures are excellent. I value the time you have taken to plan and execute these videos. Your transparency, your willingness to share your techniques, supplies and processes is not found any where else that I have seen. This type of content is inspirational. Well done!
Hi! thank you for all the info, its very helpful. I did want to note: not all printers are the same. I started out with the Hp envy 4512 and the quality was horrible for printing high quality pictures. It is fine for everyday paperwork use, but you really need to have a at least semi professional printer for small details to come out crisp. I now use the Epson XP 15000 and it works great. Hopefully that helps someone!
New Sub here. OMG, i love this video. Trying to get my sticker shop up and going, and everything you said was so so helpful, thank you so much for sharing. !!!! Your Etsy shop is beautiful and congrats on all those sales. WOW......
Maybe one tip about the ink cartridges for your printer... look up the color one on eBay! They will probably be generic cartridges - but I’ve found they work just the same. The last set I got, probably got 15 of them for about $13. While just one is about $18. Something to think about and look into maybe. 😊 And I’m so glad your Etsy shop is doing so well!
Be careful on this, if you use one thats not genuine hp, it will void the warranty on your printer. Also you might look into signing up for their ink subscription, it can save you some $ depending on actual volume. When the time comes to upgrade your printer though (hp makes a good product but those little ink jets just dont last as long) make sure to look into a laser jet. They are much less expensive to run, and typically have a higher quality dpi resolution. I definitely reccomend brother or cannon. The printer will cost more but the toner cartridges run several thousand copies whereas ink cartridges typically run only a couple hundred. Toner also doesn't ever expire and ink cartridges can dry up over time. A laser jet would help improve your profit margins quite a bit. I worked as a sales rep for an office supply company, learned a ton about printers in the process. Thanks for sharing your experience with running a sticker shop with us!!
Please make a video of how you use the label maker and how you package everything with your inserts and everything. This is so interesting! I dont even have or want a shop but I really like watching how it is done!! This was awesome!
Thank you for making these videos! It’s wonderful that you are sharing your lessons and advice with others in the community. I will be supporting your Etsy shop for sure. Subscribed!
thank you so much for sharing these tips they are so helpful. Just a question for the ridged mailers do you have to put shipping labels on them or can you just do them like a letter with a stamp in the top?
Glad I could help! I use the shipping labels created through Etsy. I’m not sure if regular stamps would work... I would recommend speaking to a shipping specialist (at USPS or another shipping company). I can tell you from experience that shipping is usually over $3.50 for each mailer so that may end up being a lot of stamps if that’s the case. Also, with the mail the way it is, having tracking is huge! Lots of packages get lost or delayed and it’s nice to have something to reference when calling the post office.
Can you show how you actually design & layout your stickers...what software you use & where you get your designs? Do you find the image online & use clip art and then insert the words, etc.? How does that all work? That's probably the thing I'm most confused about and don't understand how to do. Thanks SO MUCH for sharing all of the "lessons" you've learned so far in this great journey of yours! I can't wait for your next episode!!!
Katnipp Illustrations on TH-cam shows quite a bit of videos on what programs she uses to make stickers and other Etsy info. She does her own designs, but I think the information can be applied if you found your own images.
@@loungeblogger the tax aspect will vary a lot depending on what state you are in, so it's kind of hard to talk about and be accurate. In general, you pay income tax on your earnings and have to charge and pay sales tax on products you sell. It gets complicated very quickly.

Wondering if you've looked into getting a self-healing cutting mat? These are industry standard for most professionals doing their own cutting and are worth the investment (I've had mine since college and it's lasted many projects/late nights for almost 10 years now) :) They're traditionally green but you can find them in other colors as well! Love your channel; thank you for all the hard work you've put in - it shows!
Sometimes even with HP printers when you print black colour it actually uses the colour cartridge still, not all the time but often they do which is why sometimes people notice they hardly use any black ink even thought they print black text and black parts of images. Also for people starting out HP do the ink subscription where when you nearly run out you get new ink sent to your home before it runs out and its cheap as hell. u only pay £3.49 a month lol
Hi Sara!! I'm so happy I found your account, I don't make stickers, but I love watching your videos! I do have a silhouette cameo that I bought recently to start introducing vinyl with my hand lettering. Thanks for sharing and teaching :)
hi I know you're asking Sara but I used to have instant ink and absolutely hated it. Maybe I was cursed with two bad cartridges, but I found that the ink quality for the instant ink cartridges - color and black- were very low quality. Literally got to a point where anytime I printed text, it came out a dull gray and the cartridge was still basically full. When I tried to call for a replacement cartridge, it was like Nicholas Cage trying to steal the declaration of independence. Extremely difficult. Lots of runarounds and being transferred multiple times. I no longer use the service and don't miss it!!!
I did and honestly with the amount of sheets I’m printing it would probably be more that way! But yes, definitely something I looked into in the beginning!
I absolutely love HP instant ink and I think (especially if you are starting out) that you'll save a ton! The cartridges are bigger than even the XL ones and you pay per page. You could literally print 500 pages of pure color and it would only cost $15 per month which is way less per page than buying your own ink. Also, I like that I don't even have to worry about running out because once it starts to get low, it's automatically sensed by the printer and ordered. I don't have an Etsy account yet (I'd like to someday), but I am an elementary teacher and I love the convenience. For me, if I'm planning to print a bunch all at once, I can even just message their customer service ahead of time and they have shipped extra cartridges without running low. Here is the link to check it out! try.hpinstantink.com/pmctZ
