  • Eva Braun was Hitler's secret lover for more than 13 years. To this day, she is regarded as an apolitical and naïve appendage of the mass murderer. But who was the "bride of evil" really? Officially, Eva Braun was Hitler's private secretary at the Berghof. It was only after her death that she became a public figure in Germany. Together with Adolf Hitler, she took her own life in the bunker beneath the Reich Chancellery in Berlin on 30 April 1945. The dictator had previously married his long-time lover. Hidden from the national community, she spent most of her time in Munich or at Hitler's mountain farm in the Alps. The first academic biography by Heike B. Görtemaker aims to revise the image of the blonde and apolitical ditz at the dictator's side.

Incredible documentary. You cannot get into Eva's head. Seemly oblivious to everything. Her filming leaves us still wondering. 😮

@@JR-sq2of No, as it happens if you use seemed it conveys the action broke off at a point... you can use it after watching the video and recalling something but if you are commenting on the video and the action endures it will be 'seem'.

The tragedy of the Third Reigh is inestimably huge. Eva's relationship with the Fuhrer is also tragic. Imagine knowing that an ageing, ill Hitler became unattainable. His private hell had to have become hers. What a dark and tragic story! I'm consider myself highly intuitive and just having even peripheral knowledge of Hitler's atrocities would have been to depressing for me.

My ex boss reminded me alot of Hitler. He was an ex military man, had a stoic, self-possessed and unyielding personality. However, he was subject to the rules and regulations beyond his control. He had allowed an unprincipled woman to be his second in command. When he signed the termination of an employee, it was found that that employee was wrongfully fired. The employee sued and settled, but it damaged the ex military man's reputation. The Board of the Agency advised him to retire or be fired. It was devastating for this man who, l like Hitler had devotion and ambition for the agency but who wrongly relied on the word of a ruthless woman to make judgement on that employee. He did retire and then went to work an another agency, only to be fired from that agency, probably because he went there on a high horse and tried to become the boss immediately. He was, like Hitler, not be outranked, and was fired. I think of him as a person with a narrow, somewhat racist or classist view. It cost him his job.
