Hilarious! I am surprised the younger generation don't know those proverbs. Kene is more like a riddle. It's a phrase with hidden meaning. You have to identify the riddle word in the phrase and identify the 'wax' and 'gold'. What you're doing is starting the proverb and letting them finish it. That's not Kene. BTW. Two of those sayings were from the bible. King Solomon's 'there is nothing new under the sun' and 'tit for tat'(besferut kuna . . . ) are from the Old Testament. I like your sense of humor.

In the old good days, we use to learn KENE in Sewasaw, and proverbs from Bible in school and churches, and also from our parents and grand parents. What a sad generation. Shame that a foreigner teaches the new generation. If you asked “no pain, no…?” They will respond. But, We highly admire you.

much anticipated and long overdue, that is to say " a ferenji's prospective" on the ethiopian terrain..yea there've been a few ferenji vloggers in the past, but i have to say, i like your approach and overall vibe :) I have a couple of pressing Q's which you might be uniquely suited to answer (well atleast one of them). I'm a native ethiee with a native born euro GF, we spent an extended holiday in ethiopia some 12 years ago and did the whole nine yards..one thing that was really difficult to accept for her (and in many instances for me as well) was the constant and incessant cat-calling, whistling, obnoxious comments being hurled at her, being followed by large crowds for very long stretches whenever we were on foot, and the constant begging at every corner of the streets, it got so bad that we eventually we had to rent a car to avoid some of it..add to that the many street robberies we heard from visiting tourists and expat residents we had met during our year long stay..although i have to say we were not victims of any crime per say. Let me preemptively state here that NO my girl did not dress/act/carry herself in any provocative manner. So to my questions, has anything changed ? The other question you may not be able to immediately answer, but i am hoping that you may stumble on to someone who's recently got it done, or hear about it in passing conversation..i'm trying to determine how long it will CURRENTLY take to obtain the ET resident card? I know that embassies will facilitate the process but my girl and i are hoping to make a second trip, and i thought it may be more expedient if i take all necessary documents and apply in addis. We are planning a 3 week trip and so i'm assuming that would be enough time to get one, assuming we hit the ground running. Your insights cheerfully accepted. Cheers.
