Idk about Genshin, but in Blizzard sometimes the VA don't get to see what their character look like, they have a slight description, mostly attitude wise ?
Most of the time, the interviews i've seen on Overwatch VAs, is that most of them had NO IDEA what their character look like. Also for having the chance to hang around a french VA in League of Legends, he never saw the character before hand, because it wasn't drawn yet

What I love is that Zhongli's voice is quite distinct from Keith's natural voice, yet you can still hear the undertones that make his voice unique, in his portrayal of Zhongli. I know this is common for voice actors, but his is quite noticeable compared to others, plus, the aforementioned undertones in his voice are very distinct.

It's spoken in a more Authoritive Voice, compared to normal.
His normal Voice is softer, slightly less Strained.
I immediately recognized Keith's voice when I watched Hunter x Hunter for the first time. And then, several weeks later, I watched Miraculous for the first time (not first episode, I was on vacation and it was on the tv in the resort) and when I recognized it, I had to keep myself from squealing about it because it was literally 3 am, I couldn't sleep due to anxiety, and everyone else was sleeping.
