Owned the Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel (now own the Touareg) and 100% disagree with recommending to look at a diesel Jeep. Emission scandal + loads of electronic throttle control sensors, DPF problems, poor gear selector, poor build quality, poor customer service, poor dealer service, poor warranty. The JGC is the worst vehicle I've owned to date. In short, the Touareg is head and shoulders a better SUV and value. Incomparable across the board.

Same, lots of problems with 2012 V6 GC, suspension, rattlings sounds everywhere, poor build quality

Needs the V8 and TDI option.
You forgot about the similar Porsche cayenne and Audi q5 which are in the same price range
The grand Cherokee is pound for pound slightly better in my opinion
