Another reason was because Sabito had killed so many demons, his blade had become weaker, which was also why it broke. Essentially, Sabito was on another level

After seeing Giyu’s backstory, I’ll never see the very first episode of Demon Slayer the same way again. Giyu’s words to Tanjiro and Giyu’s actions after seeing Nezuko protect her brother are so much more meaningful now. I respect Giyu so much!

I’m pretty sure Giyuu is the third strongest hashira and he’s pretty close to Sanemi and he’s stronger than Mitsuri in physical strength. He’s faster than every other hashira besides Sanemi and Gyomei. He’s a GOAT!!!

This episode exists as a slap to everyone claiming that animation carries this show. It elevates it, adds spice to it, is the icing to the cake, but not what makes the show beautiful. It's the extremely human moments like these.
Then I guess it should have been kind of show to not have battles but human problems only. Animation carries the battles and aside of that, there is only this kind of moments that imo still feel kind of cheap. Battle moments ALWAYS have that plot help for Tanjiro to unlock something we've never seen. Aside from animation, battles in this show aren't even close to something like jjk

One of the things i love about demon slayers are the backstories and how beautiful they are made. After you see the backstories you can really understand why the characters are like they are

I definitely agree. One of the challenges of shonen is to deliver the story through conversations and not just full on battle sprinkled with back story in between. A dedicated chapter or episode for conversations feels like a cool afternoon tea time that we need in DS. I am excited for the next episode!
Am I the only one who kept sobbing whenever Giyuu showed up on screen? I've reread the entire series multiple times so I know the context and hidden symbolism with the characters... its way too good
great episode, i just like seeing tanjiro help people around him like he did with butterfly girl and rengokus brother hes so supportive and nice ( even though its kinda cliche cause hes the mc he is my favourite character) what did you think of the ending song? its pretty different from usual demon slayer songs
Its hard to think of a favorite character since all of them are great but i love the love and snake hashira. Amazing that they extended giyu's past a little more on this episode cause it felt so short and set aside on the manga, hope they do that more on the other episodes too
Side note: Giyu’s still depressed it’s just that Tanjiro was able to get him to lock in and focus on the impending battle that’s to come. All Tanjiro did was make him feel better and feel less lonely, then sabito made him realize the value of life etc. It was at the end of the story that his depression was gone.
Basically, Sabito had almost the same potential if not equal to Muichiro, the only reason he died to the last demon, was because his sword was near broken with all the demons he killed, if he had encounter that demon anytime before, he would have easily killed it, The demon he died to was literally the last demon in that forest, while he killed all of the other demons Also having Sabito somehow survived would have truly made the story shorter, He was one of the op character that just had to die for the story to progress and people still have the audacity to say its story has plot holes
Sabito couldn't slice the hand demons head off because he was exhausted after having spent days running around the mountain saving everyone, it all makes sense now, since he was so friggin strong it didn't originally make sense why his sword just broke like that and why he couldn't dodge the hit in time

Let's not go THAT far. Other people would still have survived/won with a broken blade. But yeah he was very strong for his age.
