      If you own Arturia V Collection 8, Analog Lab is already included. It is easier to install all the preset banks via Analog Lab. But you can also install presets alone for each Arturia instrument. Very soon all presets will be available for V Collection 9 as well.

    I think the 'Thriller' bass was actually the ARP 2600, according to Greg Phillinganes.

      Correct, the newly released Hits of the 80s for V Collection 8 - X has that bass sound with the exact settings recreated on an Arp-2600 V 😎 New demo videos will be released this summer.

    Where do you get the kits for the EMU II?

      I have done all the sound design myself. Presets and samples and built a “drum kit” for Emu II V with Thriller drum sample sounds (mostly Linn LM-1 and Roland TR-808 sounds). www.teckerbeats.com

      @@jangayen So you just guessed the sounds by ear? That's impressive. And the synth sounds as well. I can't imagine that you just guessed it, there must be more to this. It would be great if you ever showed us how you do it.

    • @jangayen
      @jangayen  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@alyctro8158 Haha, thanks, but yes, sometimes I have guessed what synth that was used. I'm rather trained to recreate a sound I hear and know what synth that can be or have been used to create it. But I have searched on the internet: what gear did f.e. A-ha use on the recording of "Take On Me". Then I choose those virtual instruments in Arturia and start creating the sounds. Sometimes you can use an Arturia factory preset and teak it further, sometimes you need to start from scratch. If that synth isn't available in Arturias collection I go for a synth that can recreate that sound as close as possible. Then you need to find out what drum machine where used and find samples that are correct. Often I need to tweak those samples further with eq, reverb etc. I started to play with synth in the 80s myself and had and still have many synths from that era. That's the foundation of how I "know" which synth to use - I recognize the sound caracter. Sometimes the artist use ordinary factory presets. One of the most used factory presets for synth bass on hits of the 80s were the Yamaha DX7 "Bass 1". This is my latest video: th-cam.com/video/6wdLsgu3n5o/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ImIhdudq4jXR08fJ

    • @jangayen
      @jangayen  9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for your feedback! I understand what you mean, but on the other hand, there are rarely any separate sound elements from the main artist's song. So the beat comparison is made with the whole arrangement… but I do get your point!
      With a trained ear and background information you can figure out which synth was used and then with knowledge of sound design and programming create the sound. In a couple of videos on TH-cam I've used the 'solo' function in my DAW with screen recording to demonstrate how certain presets sound on their own. Here is an example from my recreation of Relax with Frankie Goes To Hollywood:
      th-cam.com/video/4Qo7aukQOX0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=0sDNJlXtxHQtKeW7
      But…sound these and other presets close to the original song?🤔 Customers are best to answer and decide that main question. Please read what reviews customers have after buying my presets, these are on my website:

    Howcome no copy right issues? You tube is so hypocrite

    • @jangayen
      @jangayen  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You may not have published any music material on TH-cam? Lots of DJs and others do, and when you do, there’s a step before it will be published where YT analysis the material and give alerts on copyright material. You have to accept this and be aware that you will not get any commision from TH-cam (most important for TH-camrs that have TH-cam as an income I suppose). This commission from YT (I don’t know if YT do so?) will go to the specific copyright holder/artist/record company. I think this is very fair.

    Hi Jan, so how are these presets played, is this a plugin for a DAW, what do you have to have to use these presets? Excellent work BTW, love 80's music and can say I'm actually stuck in this era haha, if I could only go back in time haha

    • @jangayen
      @jangayen  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      There we have something in common (80s) haha. This project started during Covid when we all were a bit isolated. To make time go I thought I finally would try to recreate a few of my favourite 80s songs. It became many 😎I also thought some more could be of the same interest so I used Arturia’s virtual instruments. They almost cover the most keyboards of that era and it would be possible for others to load these synths into their DAW (digital audio workstations), f.e. Logic, Ableton, Cubase etc. and see what synths that probably were used, how was that sound produced and how were those leads, basses, chords and drums played. All after my best ability and ears and years if knowledge about synths and programming them. So… you need Arturia V Collection 8, 9 or X and a DAW to load my midi-file arrangement’s and the then you see by the name each track what Arturia synth to use. I also have a video here on TH-cam that explains this. Arturia unfortunately don’t provide drum machines any longer (they had one before - Spark) so all drums are sampled into Emulator II plugin. Welcome to go back in time🕰️ ⚡️💥🏎️🎶

      @@naturesrecovery4516 Yes, can you wait 2-3 weeks more I think you would get reworked sounds (presets) and fuller arrangements for a lot of songs. If you have Arturia V Collection 8 or 9 everything works and if/when you upgrade to X, everything still is compatible with my arrangements and presets. The price may be ca 10% higher. I haven’t adjusted the prices since 2022 and next versions contains as I mention more presets and fuller arrangements. Thanks for your interest in my work. More videos will of course be released as well. But all this take time and for me this is just a hobby☺️

    It would be interesting to hear the demo tracks without the vocals

    • @jangayen
      @jangayen  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for your opinion John! I actually thought the other way round 🤔😊 It would be more authentic and more enjoyful to put instances of vocal above the recreated demo... And at the same way let you here lots of instrumental parts. Thriller, The Elevator, West End Girls and some more demo parts have no vocal parts at all. If someone were to be picky and count how much of the demo had vocals on top of it at various points, ⏱📈it came to about 3 minutes and 12 seconds. That equates to about 33% of the demo's total length, which is about 9 minutes and 26 seconds. But you still have a point, it may have been easier to decide the quality of my work without any vocals at all...🔇🎙🤐😁👍
