  • The 4th dimension can be an extremely confusing topic. In many ways it’s impossible to understand, but through simple analogies and explanations, it can be come one of the most fascinating topics you’ll learn about all year. Undergraduate student at Georgia Institute of Technology pursuing a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

    I never quite understood why scientists were in any way even interested in multiverses to begin with until I saw this video. No other 4D video I watched ever broke it down like this. Whoaaaaaaa. Never thought of 3D worlds could be stacked (and actually, probably are.) Thank you so much Ms. Kiandra! ❤

    the 4th dimension is not "time" but "movement".
    Time or distance is an earthly way of measuring that "movement".

    • @orcusdei
      @orcusdei 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      No, you have it upside down my friend. We don't really know what movement is. There is a chance movement doesn't exist at all and it is only a projection of 4D space on 3D plane. This will be harder to understand so bare with me. You have objects that are defined by axes XYZ. These objects move in 4D space on a T(time) axis. You can also throw an object and it will follow X, Y or Z axis (or combination), yet ONLY because it also follows T axis. If we are not moving along the T axis, you can't move anything (v=d/t - speed equals dimension (XYZ) / time(T)). Now imagine you have 2D plane (X, Y) and this plane is "moving" on a vector Z. The 2D plane has always 2 dimensions, the creatures are 2 dimensional, yet since they are moving in our space through the Z, they will perceive the Z axis the same we perceive time. They cannot interact with it and their sole existence is "projected" to the movement along the Z axis. Now how the movement even exist then? Now since XYZT have no axis that it moves on forward and the T is just another internal space axis in it that means movement doesn't exist in 4D space. It is solely projection of the T axis on 3axes system in 4 axes one. How can we know T is a space axis? Wave. The answer to the movement question is why wave exist. Why isn't everything moving in a straight line and the very basic movement is wave or oscilation. That is because wave is a projection of a straight line in 4D space to a 3D system. If you have a straight line that is actually going through XYZT, that means it has to carry over one more dimension. It have to turn one extra 90° corner. But we don't have this corner in our dimension. And so from our perspective, it would look like the straight line goes up and then goes down again, then up..., trying to run over that extra 90°plane, depending on it's orientation in XYZT space, changing its amplitude and width based on that.

      @@orcusdei Einstein has figured out that Time is relative. Therefore Time is not a constant factor in the universe and cannot be used as a "dimension".
      If you replace the "T" axis with the character "M" (Movement) in your comment, you'll see my point.
      Your "2D plane example" does not fit for me, i never experienced 2D in this life. Everything i can see has 3 dimensions, even on the cellular or atomic level.
      Adding "wave / oscciliation" to the conversation is a nice one. Everything vibrates, but you can also say: "everything moves". Everything has it's own vibration or frequency.
      The movement of the earth around the sun causes a yearly cycle, the movement of the earth causes day and night. So yes, i do know what movement is.

    The difference is is that we can feel the 3rd dimension. Feeling and observing is what we should rely on, but the ability to see and consciously think has made us forget that feeling, with our body (intuitive or actual touch) is an equal part of this experience on the 3d plane

    Higher dimensions to ours are so perplexing and just down right impossible to understand that the best we could do is keep describing it in many different ways but ultimately we never could explain as it truly is.. the same way 2D being just can never explain or show what 3D dimension is what it looks like. This is mind blowing revelation stuff.

    x2=2d
    x3=3d
    4d=bridge
    tesla energy 3 , 6, 9
    3d x2= 6d (at 5 we are not quite there,, we stalled out)
    computer chips used Moore's law,, cuz 'humans understood it,, used it' so it goes to figure,, 4d is merely a path/bridge to 6d and 5d is our pothole. if we can get to 6d then logarithmic math takes us to the next 'level' (10x)

    cant the 4th dimension be explained as every possible outcome of ever possible particle without our constraints of time? like the tesseract doing the winning solitaire dance but throughout any space and time? its like schrodinger's tesseract lol
    im totally not drunk.
    edit: yea, im totally glad i didnt pursue my life dream. thx dad. we theorize shapes as if the 4th dimension even has a form of our geometric baseline like mario sees a line based on our understanding lol. im going to bed. great talk!
