No other way to describe X except for “Legend”. ...Edit 4/9/21, Being that X passed away today. I’m glad to know that we appreciated him while he was here. He may be gone but will NEVER be forgotten. #RRFL #RIPX
Despite what dmx went thru, he never lost his mind, his mind is still sharp, he remembers all his raps since a kid, fluently, he was able to achieve a lot despite his demons....salute to one of the GOATS
Tell me how many of the top 10 selling rappers out there today can remember any of their raps off the top of their head? X was authentic down to the bone.
Man this man was a Angel on earth. People do not realize... All the things this man went through and still was able to maintain and not fall to insanity is a testimony for all testimonies. He endured so much yet found the time everytime to pray for all of us. He was amazing. He is a disciple for God🙏❤
TIME STAMPS: 2:20 -- DMX reflects on how grateful he is for his gradual road to success. Talib speaks on X bringing crabs to cook at their meet up the night before taping the episode, they discuss why for X breaking bread was so important, and his enjoyment of cooking and sharing with his friends. Talib also brings up X serenading the crew the night before singing to Bobby Caldwell's 'What You Won't Do For Love', as well as 'Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer'. He's also asked if wishes people and fans saw that fun loving side of him more often. 7:46 -- Jasmin asks X about his growing up with bronchial asthma as a child, that being part of the reason for his signature gruff voice. She relates his music to that of someone struggling to breathe literally and figuratively, referencing lyrics from his first album. X goes on to illustrate the trauma he experienced grappling with the condition, often times waking up choking for air. All this leads into why he wanted to be a firefighter when he grew up. 10:18 -- DMX is asked about his early days of selling mix tapes on the streets, battle rapping while incarcerated, and how these experiences shaped him as an artist. X touches on how for him, hip hop truly was a lifestyle, with beat boxing being his point of induction. Then X gets raw, as he allows himself to be completely vulnerable talking about getting tricked into smoking crack at age 14 by his rap mentor, Ready Ron. X states that at that point "the monster was born". Then the conversation widens to discuss the importance of emotional honesty, particularly amongst young, Black men. 20:33 -- DMX is asked about a battle in the Bronx he participated in with his Harlem Nights crew versus Jay-Z and Original Flavor, the bout ending with guns being drawn. Talib goes on to speak about the book 'E.A.R.L.: The Autobiography of DMX', in his view being one of the first truly authentic hip hop biographies written, being from an insider's perspective. He asks X to expand on an excerpt from the book telling how he had to rap for Def Jam executive Lyor Cohen, while his jaw was wired shut. He also gives Snoop some due credit for the title of what would become his breakout single. 30:13 -- Talib brings up a period during the mid-nineties when Irv Gotti was looking to assemble a group, with sights set on DMX, Jay-Z and Ja-Rule. X tells why it never came to fruition even after recording at least 6 songs together. Jas raises a quote from X stating that he didn't want to record 'Ruff Ryders Anthem' at first because the sound was "elementary and not gangster". They also discuss the idea of X being the conscious rapper packaged as a gangster rapper, and X is asked if he believes the depth of his lyrics is often overlooked due to his perceived persona. 35:37 -- DMX speaks on the clip of a legendary roundtable freestyle session on X's birthday in '97, with Big Pun, Canibus, DMX, Mos Def, Mic Geronimo & John Forte. X notes the inescapable competitive nature of an emcee, he's asked for his take on expectations of professionalism as an artist, and X speaks to his life-long connection and affection for dogs. He outlines a story of stealing his first dog, and everything he went through to eventually earn his trust. They also explore people's varying views of dog ownership as property vs. family. 51:04 -- DMX speaks on doing 90 days in solitary confinement during his most recent prison bid. He's asked about one of his quotes stating prison used to be fun on some levels before fame hit. He also notes some of the wildest things he saw while locked up and Talib goes on to ask X for his thoughts on prison failing society, with black men in particular. He speaks on profits from prison labor being modern day slavery, rehabilitation not even in the equation. Then X is asked about his ordainment as a Christian Deacon, what faith means to him and how it affects his process. 1:01:43 -- DMX goes into how he navigates positive and negative criticism. Talib also asks X about his time working with singer Aaliyah on the movie 'Romeo Must Die'. X tells how it came together with him being written into an already finished script, and he reflects on Aaliyah's warm personality, her beautiful spirit, as well as the moment she asked him if he wanted to do a song with her. X then speaks on his upcoming album with contributions from some of the biggest names in the industry, and the interview concludes with X giving us some powerful and prayerful bars straight from the heart.

I fell in love with DMX's music as a 13 year old girl. He reminded me of my brother: a protector, transparent, a teacher. I still feel that power 20 years later. By far one of my absolute favorites.. Beyond the music, though. I often joke that he's like my spirit animal and I feel that it's because I can personally identify with his passion and expression. When angry, when happy, when trying to get his truth across, I FEEL HIM ON A SOUL LEVEL. So much respect for him.
You never know what a person going through are been through! That’s why u should never judge a book by its cover! Mad respect for DMX, and the people who put this interview together
When he tells the story how he started his addiction....when his so called friend slipped him crack it breaks my heart. It was evil and it haunted him his entire life. His childhood was horrible. He was such a talented yet tortured human being. He was a fighter and he was so honest and real. He was vulnerable enough to share it all with us. He never lost his faith. He learned from his pain and put it into words that he shared with the world. He will be missed but never forgotten. The burdens of this world are over. RIP X.
It's the saddest, realest and moving episode of People's Party. It reminds me of a Soft White Underbelly interview. Apparently life hasn't been easy for X but he keeps fighting like a true warrior. Legend.
I read the book E.A.R.L. way back when it was released. They need to do a biopic on X's life. It is extremely interesting and a story of redemption and hope. One of the GOATs.
“ I wanted the dog to be my friend 🥺” that made me cry sooo hard 💔 losing x is like loosing your favorite uncle I still can’t believe he’s gone still feels surreal 🥺...
He got his credits while he was here...they sang him his praises while he lived...they made him know he was an icon and a legend, despite the demons he fought....RRIP( Ride Ruff in Paradise) DMX. You were loved all over the world 🇯🇲🌹⚘
just remember the moment you heard DMX rhymin' for the first time. you can't tell me you wasn't feeling strong and proud and amazed. the raw power he translates in his music is unmatched to this day. G.O.A.T.
I hope the man who laced 14 year old X’s blunt suffered a lot longer than DMX. RIP King, I know you have found the peace that you have been wanting & denied almost all your life
A TRUE LEGEND, LOVE YOU X, THE ADULTS IN HIS LIFE FAIL HIM & THEN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY FAILED X HIM. THANK YOU X FOR GIVING US U. MAY YOU FINALLY HAVE THE PEACE HE DESERVES. R.I.P X🙏🏽💝🙏🏽
Ready Ron battled years of drug addiction. The coward has 14 yrs of sobriety and has decided to now clear his name. While he is only 4-5 yrs older than DMX. He refers to 1985 like it was yesterday. He alleges DMX introduced him to a joint laced with Dust. True Fans aren't interested in his rebuttal as its apparent he intentionally waited until X was gone to respond. This only adds to the list of People who mistreated X😥
It's unfortunate that sometimes it takes someone to pass for us to really appreciate the work and mentality of a DMX. With all he's been through, he still remembers so much. #RestUpX 🙏🏿
The Legend. An Icon. DMX!! This man music shaped hip hop in many ways. Ppl don’t give him his credit but his true fans give him his flowers. From 1998 to present he showed doubters he is Gods child. Wish this man nothing but happiness. Slipped n fell over the yrs & he continues to bounce back. Salute the Top Dog!

Definitely not healthy all the way that demon is still affecting him. Seeing him twitch is like watching the stop being greedy music video where two sides of him is struggling to get out.
Outstanding interviewers. Best I've seen on DMX. You all were so sincere, nothing phony at all. You allowed DMX to share his story from his big authentic heart. You all are true professionals.
Who doesn’t love DMX? We all have people in our lives and even in our families going through things. Give them an ear so they can let their thoughts out and not feel like they have to hold onto them and carry that burden all by themselves. Love is love 👊🏽
As I watch this interview as DMX speak , you can hear the young Earl, coming through as he speaks so lovely about his dogs. At first I thought he was crying but the longer you listen you can hear the hurt and pain in his voice .
I feel DMX on their childhood asthma because I had it in the 80s and it took until the 90s to get an atomizer so there were times at night it felt like I was going to die you're breathing little teaspoons of oxygen and you feel your soul trying to leave your body while you fight to stay there

My first album ever bought? It's Dark and Hell is Hot. My first concert? Ruff Ryders/Roc a Fella Hard Knock Life tour. I've always appreciated DMX's grittiness and vulnerability. Man, I'm hoping he pulls through this rough patch. Addiction is real.
I've been "fam" not a fan since I was 13 years old. I've heard every single interview. To me, this was the best one. It has so much depth. The intricacies of the questions, responses, etc. Thank you so much. 💜
Yeah dmx I luv him I was a fan of dmx when I was 11 yrs old when he did the movie belly I couldn't watch the movie cause I was kind of young when it came out but when he did the single get at me dog 🐶 that was when I said I like him!

He is a real LEGEND hands down!! What a privilege I've had just to live in his times and being a witness of this brotha's Light, what a privilege! There's something about DMX man... I don't know how to explain this... He had that very very Unique "soldier of God" type of spirit. Shout out to Talib. What a great interviewer. RIP DMX. Legend.
A good soul. Clouded by trauma. But still a good soul. I hope X pulls through. A legend. Let’s love on him whilst he’s still here ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
😔
@@AdrianMartinez-eb9wu 🙏🏽🙏🏽
my heart is broken. rip Dmx. legend forever. we love you. ♥️♥️♥️🙏🙏🙏
DMX is the Mike Tyson of Rap!
Yes bro
I was thinking the same thing same kind of struggled voice
@@tylerstanley578 dmx been through way more than mike! mike was rich by the age of 13 they fed him well in upstate new york. He was only poor as a little kid and as a kid you don't even know that youre poor. Mike tyson had it good for most of his life
@@dassolosyndikat5113 why does this have to turn into a dick measuring contest between Tyson and DMX just because I made a comparison that they have kind of similar voices?
They both speak openly about their demons which is great. Their is no comparison. Both are legends.
This is so heart breaking to watch, I keep watching it😢🙏🏿 love ❤️ and miss DMX No more pain 🙏🏿 the looks on his face when he spoke of Aaliyah was priceless. He had feeling for her. Bless
X is the Most transparent Rapper I've ever heard or seen.. A true pillar in hip-hop! #Earl 🔥💯🙏🏽🎙🎶🎧
2pac
Dmx and tupac hands down
@@moneymatters8457 a lot of people have been drawing that connection!
I got dmx over tupac....imagine if pac stepped to x during the east vs. West feud..that would be even crazier
@MKM FOH, lol overrated is 2pac and his Hennessey, freeway rhymes...
Shout out to all the damaged souls from life still tryin to be normal. Even his barking is part of his trama. Dont give up yall we need yall too to help see another side.
My personal favorite emcee of all time. Nobody's music has touched me like X's music. Thank you for this 💯 God Bless 🙏🏼
He's a rapper's rapper, to be sure!
So much respect for him.
well said.
This is why I love having our own platforms. I only want to see us having these interviews.
💯✊🏾❤
Us?
@@kiwismomma1365 Yes "US". People from OUR culture.
True tings!! 💯
Facts!
I notice when anyone talks about Aaliyah they all say how humble and sweet she was..❤️🙏🏾 definitely was an angel on earth! Rip beautiful
Seems like she acted the way she looked, Beautiful.
He lit up when he talked about her. Lol.
@San Patricio's Space Dolphin Brigada U weirdo 🙄
DMX still gives me chills when he spits 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Did you see the prayer?
Same 💞
hell yea
Same, i get chills
You never know what a person going through are been through! That’s why u should never judge a book by its cover! Mad respect for DMX, and the people who put this interview together
DMX is extremely smart and very talented, a very good rapper and actor.
My favorite X movie was belly never die alone and cradle to the grave. 😊
Yo I'm still crying about this man
Congrats Talib interview of the year!
HUGE PRAISE! THANKS!
Fr tho
This 1 and his interview with Godfrey r my favs
Legend.
Thank you for watching
I thought the same thing about SWU
I read the book E.A.R.L. way back when it was released. They need to do a biopic on X's life. It is extremely interesting and a story of redemption and hope. One of the GOATs.
Yup same❤
A mini series would be dope...he lived alotta lifetimes in his 50 years...
Who should play DMX?
Unfortunately it’s a tragic story now. RIP DMX
The LEGEND, "grand champ", he's done soooo much for hip-hop, a voice of a generation.✊✊💥🔥🔥🔥
RIP King, I know you have found the peace that you have been wanting & denied almost all your life
A TRUE LEGEND, LOVE YOU X,
THE ADULTS IN HIS LIFE FAIL HIM & THEN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY FAILED X HIM.
THANK YOU X FOR GIVING US U.
MAY YOU FINALLY HAVE THE PEACE HE DESERVES. R.I.P X🙏🏽💝🙏🏽
Correct!!!!
Salute the Top Dog!
he always get back up amen
One of the greatest storytellers of all time, E.A.R.L. is super underrated!! Incredible read.
Couldn't agree more!
Didn't know there was a book..can I get a purchase link plz...from. Nigeria
WHEN I WAS A YOUNGER I PLAYED DMX EVERYDAY TO HELP ME GET THROUGH MY DARKEST TIMES & IT JUST SO HAPPENED ONE DAY IM COMING HOME FROM SCHOOL & SEE DMX IN MOUNT VERNON NY GETTIN ICE CREAM WITH HIS WIFE & MOM . NO SECURITY. WE SPOKE FOR 1 MINUTE AND EVEN TOOK A PICTURE WITH ME. PLEASE PULL THROUGH X WE CANT LOSE YOU MAN. PRAY FOR X

As uncomfortable as he seems at doing interviews, he takes over the interview. He controls the interview. I love his rhymes and stories.
X gives 100% when you get him in the room. He charmed our whole staff and showed kindness to everyone!
It’s ALWAYS refreshing to hear about Aaliyah.
A queen, gone too soon.

Damn "talking about things is usually viewed as a sign of weakness but it's really the bravest thing you can do" 💯💯💯 🙏🙏 X is REAL he not lieing
He’s looking healthy and his voice is back. Good shit X
He deserves the success. We're glad to help share and support his new wave.
Definitely not healthy all the way that demon is still affecting him. Seeing him twitch is like watching the stop being greedy music video where two sides of him is struggling to get out.
😭
@@GarnetBurke sadly you were right
@@FrostElite0101 well he is off life support now and breathing on his own so he got another chance!
Outstanding interviewers. Best I've seen on DMX. You all were so sincere, nothing phony at all. You allowed DMX to share his story from his big authentic heart. You all are true professionals.
This shows that drugs doesn’t define a person it’s their heart that does 🙏🏽✨💖
This is one of the most powerful, REAL, RAW, and inspiring interview I've ever seen!!
5 dislikes, they must be slippin. There's no way anything about this man's story can be disliked
Probably Tasha Simmonds and his first son Xavier
Some people feel better hating smh pray for those peeps
You nailed it, Jaz!
Facts
all the dislikes is for Talib ass lmaooo
R.I.P King!
Don't get it confused, this is a legend right here 💯
Who doesn’t love DMX? We all have people in our lives and even in our families going through things. Give them an ear so they can let their thoughts out and not feel like they have to hold onto them and carry that burden all by themselves. Love is love 👊🏽
As I watch this interview as DMX speak , you can hear the young Earl, coming through as he speaks so lovely about his dogs. At first I thought he was crying but the longer you listen you can hear the hurt and pain in his voice .
DMX is a goat! Hope he doing well
It feels so good to have X back! I can not wait for his record!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Deep and beautiful human being
I feel DMX on their childhood asthma because I had it in the 80s and it took until the 90s to get an atomizer so there were times at night it felt like I was going to die you're breathing little teaspoons of oxygen and you feel your soul trying to leave your body while you fight to stay there
Changing your diet helps a lot
I've always slept with a fan directly in my face.

This album is about to be crazy. Swizz and Dre working on it with features from Snoop, Nas and The Lox. Can’t wait

Yep. And the fans are READY.

For Aaliyah go straight to the 1 hour 3 min mark! ✌🏽❤️Dope interview! Really enjoyed this! 😊

Such a brilliant interview. So sad that he’s gone. However DMX would want us to be strong. Rest in Power. X 🙏🏾❤️🙌🏾

My first concert? Ruff Ryders/Roc a Fella Hard Knock Life tour.
I've always appreciated DMX's grittiness and vulnerability. Man, I'm hoping he pulls through this rough patch. Addiction is real.
X continue to Fight the Good Fight and finish the race. GOD's not finish with you yet. God bless bruh...#Salute_To_Greatness
He talks with great passion. I feel everything he is expressing his heart is open
The blueprint of self awareness and strength...under circumstances that most couldn't EVER bear. I love you X for being SO much more than any perception...for being authentically you, ALWAYS. THANK YOU for allowing me to do the same. 🙅🏽♂️🤞🏽
He is a real LEGEND hands down!! What a privilege I've had just to live in his times and being a witness of this brotha's Light, what a privilege! There's something about DMX man... I don't know how to explain this... He had that very very Unique "soldier of God" type of spirit. The anti-hero, the caretaker, the blessed/cursed prophet, the truth seeker, the passionate warrior, the humble righteous rebel, the loving child with his warm and joyful heart.
