He apologises to oichi in his time of dying which really twists the knife after having to put him down thinking all this time he was just a stubborn tough guy. In the end he showed to be a good man despite having to suffer the fate of becoming that which he despises the most in a last ditch effort to save his wife.
You mustn't have played nioh 1 if you felt nothing for nekomata. Jackass actually made me so depressed when he "died" just to came back later in the story with a "lmao guardian spirits can't die nerd!" JUST TO DO IT AGAIN IN NIOH 2! To which my reaction was "YOU'VE GOT TO BE SHITTING ME! AGAIN?! IN THE SAME WAY?!!"
Yokai doesnt make you bad, remember Nioh 2 is about saving them/cleansing them legit...you literally play a Yokai in it hahaha, if you werent a Yokai you would have been eviscerated in MANY of these fights with ease.

This is the boss that introduced Fists and Reckless Charge to me and finally made the game feasible for me to beatXD both of us charging headfirst into eachother was so satisfying
I know White Tiger/Ishida Mitsunari had this theme in the first game, but it sounds like the added some more instruments to this version. Could be I'm just imagining it, but especially at the very end sounds different from how i remember it. Still an incredibly good song though, and i don't really mind that they reused it for this game.
The reused tracks from 1 were definitely retooled, but Freed From This Mortal Coil is the only one of them to appear on the official OST release (unless you count William among those.)
It was a smart thing to put "White Tiger" from Nioh 1 since it was one of the best pieces in the soundtrack. Befitting of the name, it was used in "White Tiger" Boss fight and most importantly it was also used in one of the best boss fight of the game... "Ishida Mitsunari"

Favorite boss so far in my playthrough, it was a fun challenge of patience and also the theme fits it bc I remember this guy from a side mission. Plus I love pigs so having a big boar with her little piglets as spirit animal struck me :(
first time i fought shibata i decided to fight him again a little later without using low stance as much bc the first time i basically just ran away and poked him once every 2 minutes, the second fight was much harder but a lot more fun fighting him head-on
Easily one of the bosses I had the most trouble with, still one of my favourites though. Pro tip he stop charging if you block it, be sure to dodge away though cuz he does a follow up attack when he stops
Nobunaga had all the best generals come to think of it. Besides the Takada, Hojo and one more but cant spell it. No wonder he was destined to take Japan. He let his guard down once fate is a fickle bitch

"Ruin Draws Near" is one of my least favorite missions so far (this includes the underwhelming boss fight against Maeda), but Shibata Katsuie turned out to be great! An epic, hard battle against a honorable warrior that truly represented the strength and sturdiness of a boar.

Behind that tough and brash exterior he was an intelligent and emotionally deep man with honour.
Those screams of Sibata Katsuie in the fight , you can feel his pain and rage with the help of the music.

Katsuie came across as rough and rude at times, but in the end he was a caring husband and a good man with a good heart.

Hands down THE best boss between both games. Has the best story of all the bosses. I love how you could relate to his story on a number of levels.

Most people get killed by Katsuie’s grabs than his spinning.
Thankfully I'm good at dodging (killed in solo 2nd try, didn't spoil anything). It's just a bit boring, not hard.
