  • Here's an old one from 2019 which I never uploaded. It's a stopping service from Manchester to Huddersfield in a Class 185. Enjoy!

    Fantastic thank you. I do love these videos but I do find them very sad because you get to see the lifted tracks, or tracks simply left to grow trees, abutments of long gone bridges signifying abandoned lines etc. Evidence of how extensive the British Railway system was is everywhere and it is such a great shame.

    I've been through Standedge several times, in both directions, includng the canal tunnel - from the comfort of my armchair! 🙂

      Back in the 90s I walked from Marsden to Greenfield so I could see what I was missing. It was a very hot Spring Bank Holiday Monday, which meant that the three miles across the moors felt more like ten and a cold beer or two was in order once I reached the first pub I came to. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that it was heaving - this at 12.30 pm - because of an event the locals called a 'beer walk'. I ended up in a pub where the landlord informed me that the chair into which I'd collapsed exhausted was where the notorious Ian Brady liked to sit before he was banged to rights. I assumed that he was having me on, but the way people talk in that part of the world you can never tell.

      The long tunnel is called Standedge. I believe that it was the longest rail tunnel in the world when it was constructed.

    Your signal in GB which is triggered in the rails to warn that a signal is occurring is very good. In Germany and other countries in Europe this is only possible with 4-1 strokes on signs and so fast you cannot look at dense fog. This system should also be introduced in Germany and other EU countries, because if there is thick fog the train driver may see the signal too late! It is an example of what can be done even better in the Federal Republic of Germany and in the EU to safeguard rail transport!

    Its always annoying to me that Stalybridge ix now higher speed, when I'm playing TSW i have to approach at 15. Its painfully slow.

    Is the beep the dead mans handle?

    • @Grid56
      @Grid56 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The bong is the aws reporting that the next signal is clear. The horn is the aws report of either a speed reduction or a signal showing a restricted indication. The "dead man's" pedal is the chirp chirp chirp every now and again.

    Better hope the electric grid never goes down. EV drivers and train commuters will be fkd
