I absolutely love these old school Shelby’s! My dad still has a ‘68 Shelby GT350 Convertible and ‘69 Shelby GT350 Convertible. He Sold his ‘68 Shelby GT500KR Convertible last year. I remember riding around in these cars as a child and I use to tell my dad I’m going to have a Shelby some day. I have a 2014 Shelby GT500. I’m just like you Raiti, I Love these cars! I’d love to own both of those! That Acapulco Blue is to die for!! Thanks for sharing another great video!
Thank you for including classic cars to the channel especially in this layout. It seems like reviewers only care about reviewing the newest super cars and brush off the classics
The outboard headlights meant that it was sold in California, and the vents are functional . there is a slider on the inside for the top ones to circulate the air through.
Your car knowledge has become so common it doesn't surprise me anymore. Congrats, another quality video that's spot on. That 1970 you showed is such beautiful car.
Joe! it's Steve Bryann thank you so much for recognizing my 2011 Shelby GT 500 you rock Joe!! you made my day!👍 This is such a great Video, thank you Victor for such great camera work!!
honestly the last good looking mustang in my mind was the 1969 model year.. 1970 on wards the mustang became weird looking... Can't we agree? the 1969 BOSS 302 is probably my favorite mustang ever! (styling wise). Im more of a camaro guy, but there were some nice mustangs back in the day! Now? not so much.. I Have to give it to the ZL1 for the modern era of pony cars!
If I recall correctly 1967 was the last year that Carroll Shelby's shop built these Mustangs. By 69-70 buyers weren't willing to spend an extra 30% for what was pretty much just a Mach 1 with a custom mose and tail and a roll bar/racing style harness inside.
Love the ‘67 and ‘68 Shelby body styles. Shame on Ford for cutting the HP in ‘70. Mopar 383’s of that time had the same HP (335.) Thanks for sharing them Joe! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
The 335 HP for 69 & 70 was more of a ploy by Ford to get powerful engines off the insurance companies' list of vehicles that commanded high premiums for being so powerful. The actual HP was closer to 415, and at a higher RPM than the 335 rating. I can tell you firsthand, those engines are beasts, and have a very flat torque band, as well as gobs of torque. Driving our 69 GT500 is always such a blast.
What a beauty. I love that steel-like of out surface, not a plastiky ish of nowadays. personally I prefer the shape of 1967's. thank you 4 showing this
Joe of course Vic is your wingman. No content without him. Super Classic car. These shows are where you find these awesome rides. Mecum is where ya find them.
When I was little back in '73, my father took me to see a '69 Shelby convertible, Acapulco Blue with white/white top & gold (factory) side stripes, same rims & 4 speed. An older woman was selling the car with 21,000 miles; orig owner & like brand-new. We rode around in it with top down for test drive. I'd never been in a car that'd gotten more stares & attention before... at every corner. It was absolutely stunning!!! She was asking $2,800. My father offered her 😑 $1,800. We were sent walking.
The '69 ('70) Shelby GT 500 Convertible has always been my favorite car in the world! I am pleased that you knew about the unsold and re-badged '69s. I do love the chin spoiler... so my new favorite is the "70. I wish I could afford one. I have always been a fan of the Mustang since my dad brought home a new 1967 Coupe in Diamond Green. I was 6 years old at the time and I vowed to own a Mustang one day. When I first saw the retro 2005... I got my wish and a bought a convertible. 😍 Looking for a Coyote now. Thanks for the vid!
Oh my God thanks for this Joe. This is a real American muscle car. 60s and 70s were the best decades for not only muscle cars but also other American cars. Please do reviews on Lincolns from 60s and 70s. You know town cars and continental were so cool back then.
From the first 1969 GT500 I saw on a public road I lusted for one. It was 1972 or 1973 when Was on Ventura Blvd in Encino, CA, when I saw a gorgeous 1969 Shelby for the first and only time on a public road - until I saws the one I was preparing to purchase nearly 40 some odd years later. We purchased our 69 GT500 after having had it inspected by a Shelby expert and I gladly paid the asking price as it was fair and reflected the excellent condition it was in. Of all the cars I have ever owned this GT500 is my absolute favorite. It had factory air conditioning, so along with the power steering and power disc brakes it is a pleasure to drive. The 428 CJ engine has bogs of torque and cruises effortlessly at any speed I wish to run at. That said, I do not race around in it, as it is a vehicle that commands respect and has nothing to prove to anyone. Acquiring was me achieving a childhood dream, especially the beautifully styled 1969 model.
You s\are not alone. It took me over 40 years to both find one with the color and options I wanted, and was able to afford to buy it. It was worth the wait. Definitely. I like the earlier Shelbys, but the exterior and interior design of the 69/.70 was upserioer, and more functional with the high back front seats to reduce neck whiplash in the event of an accident. And, the front side scoops, and rear side scoops were actually both functional. But the rear side scoops, despite being functional, were not all that effective in getting enough air flow to the rear brakes to do much good. But, they look pretty cool. In fact, bitchen'! Another exterior feature that was really cool is the fiberglass hood and front fenders were actually 4.6" longer than on the non-Shelby Mustangs. It is likely the inspiration for the 1971-1973 Mustang extra long hood length that those model year Mustangs are known for. I also suspect the extra long hoods influenced the hood length of the AMD AMX, which are also really nice looking.
The 1967 version looks better than the 1970 version IMHO. The 1970 version looks like a Dodge Challenger. Pretty cool of you to bring this history to us. Thank you Joe!! 👍
You are a walking encyclopedia on cars. How do you know all of these fun facts? Both cars are absolutely beautiful. Thanks for another super Mustang video.
Back then, the Mach 1 was the choice for muscle car as the Shelby GT 500 evolved into a luxury type muscle pony car. Think 69 Corvette with the 427-390 engine, full power accessories and air conditioning.
0:09 1966 T-Bird tail lights on the 1970 Shelby,, however there was a letter S with part number on those tail light lenses, labeling Shelby,, The upper scoops on the 67 Shelby Are functional...
You know it's kind of funny how Ford is always the underdog when people speak of the glory days of the 60s and early 70s muscle cars.... With obvious few exceptions there's always going to be hardcore Ford fans - present company included. To be certain Mopar and GM ruled the roost as far as variety and sheer power, but I truly feel whichever brand your allegiance leans to, the fact that the Mustang was beautiful as a coupe or convertible, they're simply wasn't another car as absolutely stunning as any 65 to 70 fastback Mustang. The proportions and design in all three generations are absolutely timeless. Shelby-ize any of them and it's the icing on the cake. Just literal works of rolling art. I'll still take a 65 or 66 Shelby GT350.... Wimbledon white with blue stripes please :)
Ok, Raiti's Rides!...I liked your Review over all of my favorite 69/70 Mustang Shelby GT500 since High School!...But I have to Zonk You on Missing the Front Functional Air Ducks/Scoops on the Front Fenders to Cool the Front Brakes and the Side Quarter Scoops were Functional to Help Cool the Rear Brakes!...I am Just Saying!...God Bless America! 0:-)
It's kind of crazy that it took 37 years after 1970 for the next GT500 to be released. The dark ages for cars lasted a long time with exceptions of course.
JJ ~ these pretty classic Mustangs at auction are driving me down memory lane - get it? a street called Memory Lane? lol. butt really man you get to go to all the coolest car shows & auctions, I'm kinda jealous but happy for you at the same time, it'd be fun to hang out together at a show/auction one day, I bet we'd have some great conversations & a lot of laughs. thanks for bringing such awesome content that no one else does. - tony
Love the trips down memory lane ! It's too bad Ford didn't make the Cleveland available 1 year sooner. The 69 GT350 would have a Much More funner Machine ! Ford thought about offering the Mighty Boss 302 in the Shelby GT 350 but backed out because they felt the maintenance of a solid lift cam was too much for some owners..My personal favorite Shelby Mustang has always been the 69 GT500 Convertible in Gulfstream Aqua !
"Best" means different things to different people. In terms of track or drag strip times...far from it, obviously. It's not the best in any data driven decision but perhaps in the overall experience and/or aesthetics...but that is a matter of opinion, of course.
Any of these original early model Mustangs are fantastic my favorite one would have to be the early one when they first did it but if you're talking about the overall greatest Mustang ever made it's got to be the 429 Boss Mustang and there's only a handful of them that are original and they are expensive
Nice review as always, Joe. I wonder what the horsepower really was? And the torque is probably pretty high by any standards. Three speed auto? Ugh. No dual clutch? ;).
Absolute classics. That '70 is one of the most gorgeous cars ever.
I totally agree with you!
That was Actually a 1970
Matching colour rubber mud guards for the wheels would make it look like more modern ... the "2020" taste.
Air intakes are for aerodynamics and to add down force somewhat.
I agree!
I would choose the 67' as I feel like the exterior has a cleaner look.
Very good point!
I absolutely love these old school Shelby’s! My dad still has a ‘68 Shelby GT350 Convertible and ‘69 Shelby GT350 Convertible. He Sold his ‘68 Shelby GT500KR Convertible last year. That 70 blue Shelby is gorgeous love the color.
Yes it is Very Gorgeous Car. They Built the Shelby Mustang 1965-1970.
Fantastic! The green was sublime.
Really enjoy the classic Shelby review. Would love to see more classic muscle car reviews.
I will keep bringing them.
@@RaitisRides yes!!! A '69 Z/28 should be on the list! I'd love to see that!
I think so. Gone in 60 seconds was my brother and I favorite movie! Eleanor was that car
Very cool!
Victor was a BEAST shooting that video!!!!! 👊🏾 LOVE how you’re cranking out this AWESOME content!!!!!!
Thanks for giving victor a shout out. I appreciate your support!
These are the best Shelby's out side of the 427 AC Cobra these are my dream cars. All way up to mid 70's
I loved seeing Sean's crew in fast and furious tokyo drift rebuild the gt500 with an RB26 motor.
That thing Beats a DK 350Z On the Canyon Drift Corse
The outboard headlights meant that it was sold in California, and the vents are functional . there is a slider on the inside for the top ones to circulate the air through.
Thanks for that great info.
The Green one and the blue i love dem both
#dreamgarage
Your car knowledge has become so common it doesn't surprise me anymore. Congrats, another quality video that's spot on. That 1970 you showed is such beautiful car.
When I bought mine in March 70, I chose the GT 350 for the weight/ ratio nearly 50/50-. Great for going on mountain passes in Colorado.
Just pure automotive beauty, damn I love the classics.
Joe! it's Steve Bryann thank you so much for recognizing my 2011 Shelby GT 500 you rock Joe!! you made my day!👍 This is such a great Video, thank you Victor for such great camera work!!
What a sweet ride Joe ❤️
67-68 body of mustang was beautiful, 69-70 not bad but once you got past 70ish it was downhill
honestly the last good looking mustang in my mind was the 1969 model year.. 1970 on wards the mustang became weird looking... Can't we agree? the 1969 BOSS 302 is probably my favorite mustang ever! Dallas Frost yup, said it perfectly!
The Mustang never had been a secretary's car. People who were scared of its success called it that.
Always like this 1970 year ever since I was a teenager and our neighbor had one in Dark Green.
If I recall correctly 1967 was the last year that Carroll Shelby's shop built these Mustangs. By 69-70 buyers weren't willing to spend an extra 30% for what was pretty much just a Mach 1 with a custom mose and tail and a roll bar/racing style harness inside.

68 was perfect in every way visually 70 was crap in comparison but very few cars can follow the 68 to be honest
This is true.

Joe.. Fabulous video i can’t wait to take out my Shelby GT 350 today also keep doing the classic car videos it’s something new and fresh . 😊
Love the classics! Thanks for showing them. The '67 is for me!
I am so glad that you liked this one.
Can’t get enough of these Shelby Mustangs🐍💪🏼
This channel is getting huge!
Thanks for saying that!
She’s a beauty.
Could not agree more with you!
I saw a 1967 Shelby GT500 in Blue last month it was a beautiful car.
Cobras are awesome 👌
You are a walking encyclopedia on cars. How do you know all of these fun facts? Both cars are absolutely beautiful. Thanks for another super Mustang video.
Thanks Lynda for saying such wonderful things.
Interesting bit of trivia about the 1967 GT500...early models have running lights in the upper fastback scoops.
On the 67, that upper air dam was functional for the rear seat ventilation. The lower brake cooler air dam was not functional.
Back then, the Mach 1 was the choice for muscle car as the Shelby GT 500 evolved into a luxury type muscle pony car. Think 69 Corvette with the 427-390 engine, full power accessories and air conditioning.
That green is smoking. JJZ 109!

`Love those Shelbys !!!! Please review more of these classics !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Although I love the the modern Mustang, give me the classics all day long! Thanks for the memories!👍😎🇺🇸
That 428 was underrated from factory it’s at the very least closer to 400 hp
Loved that history lesson ! haha
I am so glad to hear that!
This was the dream car
Very cool!
We love victor, love the classic mustangs but how about some classic trucks on top of everything else, that c10 in the back looked nice as heck
Definitely beautiful Shelby good job Vic.
It's kind of crazy that it took 37 years after 1970 for the next GT500 to be released. The dark ages for cars lasted a long time with exceptions of course.
You better believe it!
Both are beautiful cars but give me the '67 any day.
Same here!
Rear Scoops air FUCTIONAL. Just stick your hand inside the front of the wheelhouse and you van feel the ducting. Cools the rear brakes
Definitely keep filming at future Mecum Auctions.
You got it Scott! I will have more to come.

That would be a ream garage!
Yes
Thanks Edward!
Didnt know about the changing the Vin #'s
Ford should bring back the older style tail lights
I love gt500 and the 7.0 it's the best.

415HO in reality, pure stock.

There's no zonks on this car lmao.
They are so great!
Crown Vic is the man!
You are so very right John!
I’ll take that turbo s exclusive series Spyder in the back
