@@lynnhoffmann247 Everyone else isn't saying it. I have to. When I was 13 this music was 35-50yrs old, yet myself, and everyone around me knew these basic music history songs and artists. Along with knowing the major hip-hop and rap songs and artists. It's goddamn unbelievable how much he doesn't know.
Today's generation have reminded me just how blessed I have been to grow up with with the legends and to never forget my gratitude. Thank you all. You're truly wonderful
People always think of Freddie and his appearance when they hear Queen now, but back in the seventies when this song and other Queen songs came out, videos were not yet a thing (that would be in the eighties) and the majority of listeners only heard the songs on the radio and didn't associate them with Freddie the personality, only with the band's name and with hard rock in general. Most people didn't even know anything about Freddie at all, not even what he looked like. Now, it's very different. It's kinda like people know more about Freddie than they do about Queen.
"The ABC Song", like "Twinkle Twinke, Little Star", is based on a French song called "Ah! vous dirai-je, maman", which is in turn based on an anonymous pastoral song from around 1740. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart also famously dropped a piano remix in the 1780s sometimes referred to as "12 variations", just to flex on the French.
If you are a Highlander fan you must do "Do You Want To Live Forever". Queen did a lot of soundtrack for many movies. I believe Highlander tops the list.
Queen was one of the first big Bands to play in the huge stadiums. Around 70,000 to 90,000 PLUS the big outdoor concerts where they would often play to crowds of 150 to 200,000. They wanted some songs that involved the crowd and came up with "We will rock you" and "We are the Champions". Not the sole reason for writing them but they fitted perfectly into that style of presentation.
My parents loved Queen so my brother and I knew every song. They played the vinyl at home and the cassette in the car. It was like a family sing a long always. Bohemian Rhapsody was always on repeat!
Technically its a separate song, but on their album, News of the World, it comes immediately after "We Will Rock You" with Brian's guitar lead in to "We Are The Champions". The songs tended to get played together by Queen.
A lot of these epic bands made concept albums and the songs are supposed to just mesh into another... I always thought it was one song that radios would split because they were generally too long for air time .. They did it with Floyd too..
@@marniethedyslexic6445 Yes ... I got in a hurry and switched members. Got it fixed. Thank you! I remember buying this LP back when it first came out when I was in college.
One of the cool things about Queen is that they were always changing things up. Most bands find a sound and then all their songs sound the same but Queen could do rock, pop, ballads and even funk. Freddie's vocals soared and the band backed him up wherever he went.
Queen is one of the best groups ever and Freddy Mercury is truly the best singer ever. His vocal range is crazy. Also, I've watched numerous reaction videos and I must say that I like your reactions more than anyone else's I've seen. You are real.
Queen - White Queen Live Odeon, Hammersmith.1975. Beautiful song. If you can turn up your volume a bit, it would be great. All your videos are a little muted which can make it difficult to hear all of the instruments. Thanks.
Our 17 yr old granddaughter know this song is from Queen. It's because she got interested in music from our generation because we would let her listen to it n we talk about the artists. Just glad you discovered Queen sang this song.
Peter Gabriel - “Shaking the Tree” or “In Your Eyes” live from the Secret World concert. Pink Floyd - “Great Gig in the Sky” studio version Queen - “Now I’m Here” live from Wembley 1986
Freddie is such a visioner. He knows back then that they're the champion of the world. He not lying. Like Roger Taylor (the drummer) said when asked: where is the modesty "There is none!" My majesties.
I’d love a reaction to the full 20 minute live aid Queen performance. Edited to add: they are one of the few bands that are better live than their studio recordings.
That's the way it was played on the original album, I was 4-5yrs old sitting in my room listening to this on my 8 track player that's right I said 8 track
This song is so firmly entrenched in American culture that I can understand how you'd not even think about who originally wrote it. Still funny though.
We are the Champions was originally the 'B' side of the We Will Rock You single. Shortly after their release they were re-released as a double 'A' side and were played back to back on Top-40 radio.
Growing up in the US in the 80's, listening to all kinds of classic rock, Queen, Rolling Stones, AC/DC, U2, INXS it was an experience learning they were from the UK or Australia

OK Freddie Mercury wrote this song as a goodbye song to his fans when he wrote this song he realized that the doctors just told him that he had HIV aids and that he was dying it was a very very very big blow to his fans which I am a fan I love the queen band I love all their songs his fans knew that he was gay and we didn’t give a shit but whenever he contracted AIDS and HIV at the same time it’s the same thing and when we found out that he was dying it crushed all of us so he wrote that song for his fans letting them know that we are the champions because we did what we want to do and as long as that we do that and we do it with pride then nothing can beat us thank you for playing this song and understanding what this song is about y’all have a nice day

Yeah, QUEEN is another big band. Famous for their live power. Most good bands really impress live. Unless you’ve experienced it, it’s really hard to describe. It’s like someone telling you about sex before you’ve had sex. There simply is no comparison. The volume alone will throw you off guard. I wish you guys could have seen it. It was incredible.
