      Well, now you know!! The quilts you create WILL be of a good size worked up, but most of the hard work will have been done with the fabric panel choice!! So have at it!! Have fun!!!

    I’ve alway steered clear of panels because any I’ve bought have been wonky. However recently I’ve watched some videos on how fabric is made, printed and how to straighten panels & the information has made a world of difference.

    Every one of these are spectacular, Jean! I just love your quilts! Can't wait to get a new sewing machine (after 20+ years mine finally broke down) as you've inspired me to try panels! Also, I've never used or thought of using a color wheel!

    equilter is the best - so helpful are the samples of what you can add to the panels. Thank you for sharing. Another question, I have a couple of panels now and wanted to know if you advise washing the panels before sewing them? Thanks again - you're the best!

    • @jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory
      @jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      LOVE equilter!! Just love 'em!! I personally don't prewash any fabric, but I know that a LOT of quilters do. I have never had any problem and I also use a lot of water in my spray bottle when ironing my bits, so there is shrinkage there. I haven't had issues with dies running, but then again, others have. Personal preference. And thank you!

  • @cindywest2689
    @cindywest2689 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just love this video. I'm trying to learn to quilt so pardon if this is a dumb question, but do you have to wash and square the panel up before you start?

    • @jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory
      @jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is never a dumb question!! I THINK the professional quilters/quilt police WOULD certainly wash and square up a panel......I never have and probably never will!! LOL! And my quilts/panels/panel quilts have all turned out perfect!! :) Thanks for watching me Cindy:)

  • @kimbennett2369
    @kimbennett2369 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thank you Jean for another wonderful video. You've taken some of my fear of panels away ! Just wondering what your thoughts are of what thread to use ? Cotton ? Polyester or sew-all ?

    • @jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory
      @jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Don't be afraid - they won't bite!!! :) As far as thread, I'm just now seeing the benefits of (very expensive but very worth it) Aurifil. One spool goes miles and miles and stitches up Beautifully - truly superior cotton thread from Italy. But I also have had success with Sulky and Coats and Clarks (although many will say its' rubbish) - I am NOT a thread snob!! Use what your machine likes, I do prefer all cotton. Thanks for watching!! :)

    Jean I have wanted to ask what batting do you like to use? There are so many to choose from that I don’t know where to start. Thanks

    • @jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory
      @jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey John! I'm in love with Warm and Plush from The Warm Company. You can quilt up to 6 inches apart on this. I get mine in bulk, from Amazon. It's slightly thicker than Warm and Natural and a bit pricier, but I love it! I also have used, and like, Hobbs Wool Batting (Tuscany Collection) for a very lightweight but extremely warm washable quilt (that needs to be quilted about every 4 inches)
