  • Learn how my coaching client and Navy Veteran launched his own independent courier service this month. He purchase a brand new 2024 Ford Transit High Roof Cargo Van to set himself apart from the rest.
We've put together all of the steps he took to find the van (which was a challenge) and how he is pursuing local retailers and government to get his business off the ground.
Since he found me by watching one of my courier videos, we are releasing his course to the notary audience at a discount for a limited number of members.
His course also includes a revamp of the Courier Calculator™ 2.0 which is only available at Notary Nerds University.

Did you take in to account he will likely coming back home empty? That is more time and gas

@@COFFEE23409 It’s factored in the profit margin. But it would be a great idea for me to add a “deadheading” column to the calculator. That way he wouldn’t miss out on that expense on his one way routes. Thanks for pointing that out!

Question: why is tank size and MPG not in alignment with the other numbers?

The gas tank size is irrelevant

@@COFFEE23409 It’s only irrelevant if you don’t use gas to fuel the vehicle or if you walk to the signing.🤣🤣

@@notarynerds the amount of gas used (mpg) is what counts. The size of your gas tank has nothing to do with costs. You will use the same amount of gas with a 17 gallon tank as you will with a 35 gallon tank. You will burn slightly more gas with the 35 gallon tank only because of the extra weight of the fuel.

I don’t think John will be able to get enough business to make payments on a ~$60,000 van. I think he would have been better off with a low milage full size van for $25,000 or less. If there was a load requiring something bigger he could rent a truck or trailer. That is more truck than he needs for a start-up. The payments/debt will kill his business. This does not sound like a winner to me.

@@COFFEE23409 If he wasn't a service disabled veteran working on his SDVOSB certification with plans to pursue courier government contracts then I would agree. However, because his business model is heavily focused on government contracting in the mid term, and it can take months to secure a brand new van, he made a smart move.

Time will tell. I wish him the best. He has a great business coach and I’m sure you both will find a way to make it work.
