Thank you for the video this does a great job, much better than a older stud finder. I just tried it myself will say to be sure to properly calibrate it. It has you do increasingly larger circles but if you do the smallest it will allow well. Then it will be somewhat less clearcut in what it shows you. I did the smaller to much larger circles the 2nd time and while the 1st attempt did work enough to hit a stud. The 2nd time you get a better idea of actual center. Along with all 3 modes give a better picture, "x-ray" or measurements. If you are mounting something heavy for example. Where with a larger screw being too close to the edge of the stud could cause the wood to split and drop whatever is mounted.
It works for me. I have plywood wood siding and drywall on inside walls. 1950's house. I leave the gel on my cellphone permanently. I cut another, softer, thicker plastic to stick to the gel when I'm not using the Walabot. I couldn't reliably find the hydronic copper piping in the foundation. I guess it's too dense and too deep.
Just returned mine. It can see studs alright, but no better than my stud finder. I wanted to be able to see wires. It can, but only if the wire is running down along the sheetrock. Wires running through studs are completely invisible to the walabot, making it useless in my opinion.
The company advertises that the product works on all Android phones. This is not true. It only works on Android phones that support USB On-the-Go. Many, if not most, Android phones out there today do not support USB On-the-Go.
If you see this marketed everywhere, and relying on "reviewers" to push the product, then the product does not sell itself. Then there's probably reasons to look into the claims, from what I know it needs calibration and does not work well. (see comments below)
I use mine all the time. You do calibrate the first time you use it, not really a big deal. They have a new model I keep meaning to buy, just haven't had a chance too. But yes, "reviewers" like me, who have purchased the product for themselves and felt it was good enough to do a video of are probably the ones you need to watch. Thanks for the compliment!
Use at your own risk. It does work but not full-proof. I almost drilled through a pvc pipe the unit indicated as a wooden stud. Back to conventional stud finder for me.
"Fool-proof." Studs are located with tapping, exploratory drill holes etc in discrete places such as immediately above skirting. Fill the 2mm holes with toothpaste if you wish. Water pipes should be horizontally between studs and directly above or below supply fixture, such as handbasin cabinets, shower inlets. A PVC pipe in my country would only be for waste water so it should be reasonably obvious. Good luck David.
Looks neat , good explanation curious if it can see thru wood like thin plywood or wood boards? How is it on the thickness of the concrete it can see thru? Does it see thru other masonary walls or just concrete walls. Either way $60 dollars for this thing that can see pipes, wiring , and animals behind most residential walls seems worth it if your into building/engineering stuff. Because alot of the stud finder out there just plane suck /give misreadings this actually gives you visual.
I used it to look through some 3/4" plywood. Saw EXACTLY everything! Also I tried it on cinder block walls that I had to fish wires in. You can see the voids etc with it.
@@jlong6470 does it also have away to check thermal insulation leaks ? If so what thermal temp ranges can it distinguish and how sensitive is it in color coding stuff? As well as what frequencies of electromagnatic waves can it pick up?
I don’t get it when they say “ the Conection it’s only wifi I mean if I work on the customer House and they are picky so I will need to try the ATiT services or Verizon connections but some town the signal really suckkkkk . What we gonna do ?
good question Annie - what about ceramic tiles in a bathroom - I read one review saying it cant detect through ceramic tiles - Im waiting to get the answer direct from walabot
In the image view, seema a bit strange that the wire is 1 1/2 inch off the stud. I'm thinking probably not - probably attached to the stud. The infrared view might be more realistic?
Bought two of these ($173.00 w/shipping) not realizing that they only work with Analog Phones. Have been trying to return for refund for almost 3 weeks now. Called, submitted Return form, e-mailed with copy of return form, but have not heard anything back form them. The 30 day return period will be up soon and we can not find an address to return to. Is this a legitimate company???
You lost me with Analog phones. I assume you mean they only work with smart phones. They have plans on releasing an apple version, but I believe the hold up is with Apple granting them a license. They are legitimate, but you probably need to return them through the place you purchased them through. You can find their return policy here:. walabot.com/docs/walabot-tc
From what I have seen it really isn't that great. For one thing the phone can come lose from the stud finder a bit too easily. It works ok on drywall most of the time but it can miss some things too. The images are cool but I wouldn't use this on the job! Try calibrating on a rough surface and see how much you like it. It really doesn't work well on concrete even when set to concrete! It is a pain to re-calibrate every time you move it to another location. The only thing I like about it is the images of plumbing and electrical. I wouldn't waste any money on it.
I purchased it because I seen an ad about it and just thought I'd do a review on it, it is about as honest as it can be. I still use it on occasion, I think it works pretty well, at least for what I use it for. Not sure I understand your last comment regarding the nail. When I use it, I'm usually just looking for studs and slide it across the wall and mark them as I go. I do find it to be a pain to hook it up and calibrate it every time I use it and have been looking at a Franklin Stud finder. If I buy one, I'll do probably do a review on it as well. www.harborfreight.com/prosensor-m150-stud-finder-57219.html
I wont make a review video on it,I will say, We restore old properties daily,And it has so far been useless. It cant even pinpoint a stud in a wall.I get way less missed studs using a hammer. Might help me someday if Im not sure where a wire or a pipe are. P.s We haven't tried it on drywall, just lath and 7/16 plywood.
"we haven't tried it on drywall, just lath and 7/16 plywood" Understanding how this technology works, I would of been more surprised had you said it actually worked. It only works with drywall and concrete.
Yea, like an x-ray could be on a portable device, lmaorotf We all know that if you find a stud and a wire and no other stud at the edge of a wall it just ends there. Sorry but a wall no matter how small doesn’t have just one stud.. what a scam
Hi, thanks for the comment, I'm really surprised you thought it was going to be a portable x-ray but I'm glad you figured out it wasn't! As a stud finder, it works exceptionally well even showing wires on the edge of 2x4s. I also have version 2, but sadly it doesn't work as well as this one, the original. Not sure why they made a model that didn't work as well as their first version, but oh well. ;)
Product review of the Walabot stud finder!
Expert mode is to detect rodents and stuff.

Have you tried it with lathe and plaster to find the studs below?
Thanks for the review. It help me to decide to buy it.

Very good point! Though I'd like to think most newer Android phones support USB on the go.
Great it shows the center of the stud on the screen, but is there a mark on the Walabot aligned with the center as represented on the screen.

Sell it self? Nothing sells itself! Everything needs advertising! Wow.
They should of did magnetic instead of sticky gel. Then again it may be necessary cause the magnet may interfere with device.

Dummy
Saw another vid that said the "pro mode" is actually to find animals moving inside the walls

Every man has to start with a stud finder joke, we can't help it 😂
0:18 seconds stud finder comment made me lol 🤣🤣
Yea I caught that too. lol
Can the x-ray be. Performed as it being wet from inside and if yes which model number is to be bought

The one in this video is not wireless. Also the ones that are wifi do not require the Internet, just a wifi connection to your phone.
does thus work on walls that are NOT drywall? Like T111, Plywood, wood panel, etc?

Does it work on wood paneling?
Does it work on roof shingles to find the rafters?
Might be late. Mine is arriving this weekend. That’s the exact thing I’m using it for.
@@crim7ind please let me know, I'm done wit h my roof but it is always good to know. Good luck!

Well done review. Thanks!
images shows the wire a few inches off the stud? they wire is probably stapled to the stud.
Probably not, the device is actually pretty accurate.
Any luck with using this product on wood floors to find joist to screw down squeaky subsurface?
Try another method such as packing it from beneath or measure from the wall.

I use it a lot! I think it's freaking awesome! By what I can tell, the people who complain can't follow directions!
Does it work on Plaster with lath ?
No
Yes

Honestly! Did u get paid to do this review and how come u didn't proof by using a nail in that stud location

Does it really work? I heard won't work on plaster
I do not have plaster walls, but I can absolutely say it works with drywall amazingly well.
@@1D10CRACY I need to know the same thing. Maybe in concrete mode.
According to walabot app description, not on plaster or lath
Works on my plaster walls, though not quite as smoothly.
