When I suggested (many, many times LOL) that you read Tin Man, I was 100% certain you would love it. And you did. I can’t say the same for Piranesi. I just can’t predict how you’ll react to it. But I adored that book, particularly as read by Chiwetel Ejiofor. I hope you’ll love it as much as I did. I think you will. But I’m just not sure. So, you should listen to it right away so we can find out. 🤣🤣🤣
The Secret History wasn't for me, but I can see why others would love it. Now, I'm going to be that one person who will urge you to read Tartt's The Little Friend instead - nobody ever mentions it (or mentions it unfavourably) but I absolutely love it! So much so that I've read it three times. I've yet to meet anyone else that shares my delight in this novel, but then again I have yet to meet someone who's read it... I suspect that most people who disliked it did so because they expected another The Secret History. Oh, and yes, Piranesi is one of my favourite reading experiences ever. Love your channel BTW - long time subscriber but first time commenter so mustn't forget to tell you that! ❤
Thanks so much! Tartt does seem to be one of those authors where each reader has a different favorite--although you are right that Little Friend gets a lot less love than the other two.
I had no idea there is a conceptual trilogy by Lauren Groff! I have read Matrix based on your praise and really enjoyed it. Such an imagery! Hope there will be an adaptation, this story needs to be transferred to the screen.
I agree with previous commenters that “Piranesi” is worth reading. However, it’s a cilantro book and I can’t predict whether you’ll love it or hate it.
Regarding Mayflies. I think it’s going to be a situation like you recently had with Tin Man. Everyone keeps telling you to read it and that you will love it and that’s putting pressure on you about the book. But I think once you read it, you will love it. Piranesi is a good audiobook
Please, please give The Secret History a try! It's infinitely better than The Goldfinch; I think the Goldfinch's Pulitzer win was a make-up to Tartt for their egregious error of the failure to award it to The Secret History. I'd skip The Friend if I were you -- with your history of dogs. I read it, but it just felt like a big "meh" book -- and I feel the same about dogs. It just felt not worth my time. Little sister's classics? Greeaaaaat -- another series for me to obsess over! Wish I could have heard Teddy's snores -- give him ear skritches for me. 💚
I've been hearing that even people who don't like Goldfinch have liked Secret History, so that is making me feel better. We'll see! Will definitely give Teddy ear scritches.
It's been a while since I read The Friend, but I don't remember anything bad happening to the dog. I think I would remember because that is a definite no for me too.
Allow me to return the favor and encourage you to read Piranesi sooner rather than later. It's quite extraordinary :).
Thanks for the encouragement!

Ejiofor reading the audio has me excited for Piranesi. You were 100% right about Tin Man!
Thinking about what you want to read! I spend time doing that too. This feeds that obsession, Ty!
I'm glad it helps because I am ALWAYS thinking about what to read.
These are my favourite videos of yours!
I'm glad you like them. I find them interesting!

I can't remember where I heard an interview with her where she discussed the idea, but I think it was NPR. I agree a Matrix adaptation would be great!
I’d recommend you read Piranesi 🤩
I should try to get to it soon.
Piranesi and the secret history are worth the read. I dnf the Goldfinch either.
That's good to know because my DNF of Goldfinch is a big part of my hesitation.
I agree with previous commenters that “Piranesi” is worth reading. However, it’s a cilantro book and I can’t predict whether you’ll love it or hate it.
I'm hoping that the fact that I liked Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell and it is also a bit of a cilantro book is a good sign, but we'll see.
Loooooved the sound of Teddy snoring
He's a cutie!
Piranesi & Secret History are both book perfect for October! Dive in, they’re book fantastic!
That's a fun idea!
En el momento en que vi el bolso kislux , supe que tenía que tenerlo.
I recommend The Secret History. Try a sample of the audio.
Thanks for the advice!
Awe, sweet Teddy! ❤💤
He's a cutie!
I feel a strong pull towards Piranesi too. Let me know if you'd be keen for a buddy read.
Not sure when I'll be getting around to it, but hopefully soon.

That's good context--I think I have been a little worried to read Mayflies because so many people have told me I will love it. Thanks!

It seems like I'm saying I feel "meh" about dogs! So NOT true! Just felt that way about the book. Bummer, too, because I love her book Salvation City.
@@onourpath I totally understood what you meant! I didn't even read it the other way.

It may just be complete paranoia on my part.
I just did a video on the current top 10 most challenged books according to the ALA and Gender Queer is #1.
I feel like it's been consistently at #1 in recent years.
