we have most of these benefits in romania too :) meal tickets, transportation reimbursement, private healthcare insurance, gym subscription, and 22 paid vacation days per year

I work in downtown Toronto (now I’m remote due to COVID) and I agree that the subway is too expensive and everyone is way too dressed up! Go France! Once I eventually go back to the office, I would like to wear street wear and have 5 weeks vacation!

I think I can travel to other EU nations too which is a real bonus (pre covid phase), I have not worked or lived in Canda before, but I think the winter is pretty fine here in France (at least in Paris, in the north it's cold but I guess its warmer) compared to what I have heard about Canada, it is cheap (considering groceries and other essentials like the internet, transportation, etc. are concerned) here to live I guess if I am living outside Paris, I can add some of these experiences apart from the ones you mentioned above.

Ah good points ☺️ I think that Canada is quite a bit cheaper than France, clothing and material possessions especially are much cheaper I find 😯

2 weeks holiday ... for the entire YEAR! 😲 I'm so happy I work in Europe too. It's a shame Canada doesn't give more annual leave, people must get so burnt out.

Yes now that I’ve come to France I really realized how important more vacation time is.... 2 weeks is essentially like working nonstop all year and taking 1 break over the summer 🙁

@@Ariellelaparisienne zero work life balance, so sad. I used to work for an American company and when I went to HQ in the States I was shocked at how embedded you being a super hard over worker was in the culture of the company. People's position at work consumed so much of their identity. Also some people didn't take their holidays for fear they looked like slackers!!!!! It's so sad that the workplaces drive their employees to this extreme 💔 we could all do with some of that French attitude I think 👌

All my employment has been in the States and I remember crying at the end of my first week of vacation and telling my husband that it took the first week just to relax so that I could enjoy the second week…..then back to 50 more weeks of work. 😰 Up until 1983, all my employment (banks; Xerox) paid for my medical insurance except for $4 per month. I am retired and now Medicare costs $450 a month and my regular insurance costs another $300 a month. This does not pay for eye doctors, glasses or dentists plus I pay $10 for every prescription which is considered very cheap. Another thing I find abhorrent in the States is this: my son has worked for a major European Corporation in Germany and got five weeks of vacation but once they transferred him to the U.S., the same corporation only gives him two weeks vacation. On the other hand, a gallon of gasoline in my city is $2.95 a gallon (December 23, 2022) and our winter heat bills are nothing compared to what Putin is costing you. I also feel much safer where I live (no murders, terrorists, Ukraine invasions or gun mentality).

Hi! Love your videos! I am currently applying for a masters in France. I was wondering if you could do a video on your experience. The pros and cons and what it's like to study in a language that is not your own, the workload. Was it worth it? Lots of people are applying to masters right now and I know this would help us all out. Thanks so much!

It's two weeks in the US as well, but at most corporations, you gain weeks according to how long you've worked there and you can also buy/sell vacation days and we have transportation/parking incentives. The companies I've worked at have those perks for movies, concerts and all that.
I work in beauty/luxury so while our Paris colleagues receive a lot of vacation days (and parental leave), they work late, like up to 10PM and on weekends. That would never happen at our NYC office.
But again, the industry I work in is pretty hectic and competitive worldwide no matter the culture.
Eta: 50 euro insurance omg 😖
Also, the unemployment check stuff is a bit off. In the US, we have UI as well, the $600 fight is for extra money on top of UI benefits we already have. Unfortunately, every state has different rules for the percentage of your previous salary you receive and some states (Florida) make it difficult for the unemployed to receive their benefits on purpose.

ah really ?! Normally retail workers in France finish early - and also, most stores aren't allowed to open on sundays, so the majority of people always get that day off which i think is different from North America. Also good to know about the unemployment cheque haha I have to say, the media really makes things look awful sometime in the US

corporate jobs yes.....2wks starting , other "jobs" 1 week after a year starting.......US is still under Puritanical work ethics BTW: the "extra $600 UI was ONLY during the Covid pandemic when the country was basically shut down!.....and those checks were handed out by a meglomaniac in office...which just helped inflation..

But I feel like that here in Canada when you have any management/responsibility you get to leave work much earlier than in France for the sale job where they often leave at 7-8 PM.

You think so ? In France for sure management will stay later but I think it’s like that in Canada as well 😯 I think as well, in France we have shorter business hours so the salespeople can’t stay until 7pm 😂😅 in Canada you have sales people working until very very late
