Def Jam was not exactly squeaky clean either...Bimmy who executive produced and co managed LL Cool J...he was former Supreme Team...Jimmy Henchmen and Don Pooh who were on Foxy Brown's management team...they were street dudes who had transitioned to the music business...even Russell Simmons and Lyor Cohen had ties to the Hollis Crew through Run DMC and most definitely Jam Master Jay who grew up with most of the Supreme Team's founders...Russell even used to hustle back in the early days of Rush Management when he forged a partnership with Rick Rubin who is actually the true founder of Def Jam when it was a production company...not a independent record label that scored a worldwide distribution with Polygram through Columbia Records before Island Records came into the picture !

Before that Jay-Z, DMX & Ja Rule were supposed to be a group called Murder Inc but they never put out an album because Jay-Z and DMX didn't get along with each other. Murder Inc's decline and fall from grace had nothing to do with their beef with 50 cent, Eminem etc. The reason for their downfall was the Federal Indictement. A Federal Indictement is No Joke. The only way to beat the Feds is if you have long paper which Irv and Chris Gotti had. They spent tens of millions of dollars. Also during the trial, Murder Inc artists could not really release songs. Ja Rule and Ashanti who were the biggest Murder Inc artists could not release any songs because distribution companies feared working with them (because the Feds threatened anyone who associated themselves with Murder Inc during the Indictement period). Universal records were given a stern warning regarding transacting in any way with Murder Inc during the Indictement period. What 50 cent did was that he capitalized on Murder Inc's problems with the Feds. So when Murder Inc could not release music during the Indictement, 50 cent and his label G-Unit took advantage of that and popped really hard. People who were not aware of how a Federal Indictement works, thought that Ja rule was being reluctant in responding to 50 cent, Eminem etc and that is how 50 cent and G-Unit begun taking Murder Inc's Market share. Also the association of Supreme and J Prince with Murder Inc is what led to the Indictement in the first place. The Feds knew that if they bled Murder Inc dry financially, it would also deeply hurt Supreme and his gang's finances. The Federal Indictement is what killed Murder Inc.

Why do you try and make it look worse than it was when it comes to Ja Rule. You did this last time with the title for his stunted growth. Yeah the beef with 50 Cent helped diminish their popularity but the beef with 50 Cent started way before 50 Cent even blew up and was known. Ja Rule was making classic hit records and doing movies and having major success without even responding to 50 Cent back at that point. The thing is the timing was just bad as the Federal investigation kept Ja Rule from really responding earlier when he wanted to. That caused people to side with 50 Cent as he was the new popular artist, so people were listening to everything he put out while Ja Rule wasn't able to say anything back during the most crucial time and by the time he did people had already taken sides. If Ja Rule responded when he wanted to, it would have gone differently. Blood In My Eye was originally supposed to be a mixtape but Def Jam wanted it to be an album instead. Also 50 Cent had the massive backing of his label Shady/Aftermath with Dr. Dre & Eminem who were two mega stars in music, it ain't like he was on his own, so there was no messing with the wrong one. Murder Inc made many classic hit songs and was successful for a long time, the label's career and legacy wasn't built off of and doesn't revolve around their beefs One big reason Murder Inc fell off was cause only Ja Rule & Ashanti were pushed and everyone else wasn't focused on in order for them to build a name for themselves. All facts. I have all the murda inc projects on my channel and I have to say, that Cadillac Tah album would have gone at least gold because he had fucking top tier flow and energy, as well as Vita. But Irv was just too fucked up on money, ex pills and feeling invincible with his fast success to be smart enough to look at the healthier longrun of his label by having more artists carrying it than just Ja and Ashanti.
Also i forgot to mention That Pac diss Bad Boy also and made Puffy and Big look like clowns in their videos. They never responded musically while Pac was alive. I don`t think 50 had as big of a impact in Murder Inc decline as some people think. Ja-rule started to decline substantially in popularity after like 3 or 4 platinum albums. Back then it was normal for a rapper to start to decline in popularity after 2 or 3 albums. I think people started to get tired of Ja-rule`s music because they felt the quality of his music decline. I think that had far more of an impact in Murder Inc`s decline then 50 cents. Tupac constantly dissing Biggie, and claiming he slept with his wife embarrassed Biggie in front of the world. But it did not cause a decline in his record sales. His second album sold better then the first. Tupac dissing jay-z at a time where Jay-z was not that big of a name in Hip Hop, did not have a negative impact on Jay-z sales. Jay-Z became a super star after Pac dissed him because Jay-Z music became a lot better. No matter how bad 50 dissed Ja i don`t think it had that much of an impact on his record sales, I think it was mostly Ja-rule music quality declining and the Feds messing with them.

The Feds wasn't really going after Gotti. What they did was go after Irv first with a weak case before they started with Supreme for the sole reason to make sure that Gotti didn't get Preme a high price lawyer. Gotti said (in BET American Gangsta,) that he would have helped supreme in the Feds didn't drained him out. Also the government wanted to send the message to any one else to leave that case alone. Hence why Preme had to used a court appointed lawyer.

This one almost doesn't count Murder Inc was a label not a crew. Their problem was they didn't have that good secondary rapper. They should've pushed Vita's solo joint. I still play that murders album to this day.

G-unit easily released diss tracks and mix tapes directed at Ja Rule, Irv Gotti and to some small extent Ashanti but then Ja Rule could not really respond back as much as he wanted.
So, since Murder Inc were unable to release music at that time, 50 cent begun to take a lot of their market share. People who had no idea of how a Federal Indictement works thought that Ja rule was being scared of responding to 50 cent but he simply couldn't because of the Feds.
Their affiliations with Supreme hurt them more than 50 or Eminem could. Feds warned anyone who would work with them could get caught in it. For the Stans who still think it's about Eminem, Ja was still making anthems and going platinum in the midst of the beef.

Murder Inc's decline and fall from grace had nothing to do with their beef with 50 cent, Eminem etc. The reason for their downfall was the Federal Indictement.
A Federal Indictement is No Joke. The only way to beat the Feds is if you have long paper which Irv and Chris Gotti had. They spent tens of millions of dollars.
Also during the trial, Murder Inc artists could not really release songs. Ja Rule and Ashanti who were the biggest Murder Inc artists could not release any songs because distribution companies feared working with them (because the Feds threatened anyone who associated themselves with Murder Inc during the Indictement period).
Universal records were given a stern warning regarding transacting in any way with Murder Inc during the Indictement period.
What 50 cent did was that he capitalized on Murder Inc's problems with the Feds. So when Murder Inc could not release music during the Indictement, 50 cent and his label G-Unit took advantage of that and popped really hard. People who were not aware of how a Federal Indictement works, thought that Ja rule was being reluctant in responding to 50 cent, Eminem etc and that is how 50 cent and G-Unit begun taking Murder Inc's Market share.
Also the association of Supreme and J Prince with Murder Inc is what led to the Indictement in the first place. The Feds knew that if they bled Murder Inc dry financially, it would also deeply hurt Supreme and his gang's finances.

If Ja Rule responded when he wanted to, it would have gone differently. Blood In My Eye was originally supposed to be a mixtape but Def Jam wanted it to be an album instead. Also 50 Cent had the massive backing of his label Shady/Aftermath with Dr. Dre & Eminem who were two mega stars in music, it ain't like he was on his own, so there was no messing with the wrong one. Murder Inc made many classic hit songs and was successful for a long time, the label's career and legacy wasn't built off of and doesn't revolve around their beefs
One big reason Murder Inc fell off was cause only Ja Rule & Ashanti were pushed and everyone else wasn't focused on in order for them to build a name for themselves. Caddillac Tah was supposed to release his album Pov City Hustler, Black Child also was supposed to put out an album and Vita & Charli Baltimore but neither of them did because Irv Gotti was only focusing on the label's two main stars who were selling millions of albums. I don`t think 50 had as big of a impact in Murder Inc decline as some people think. Ja-rule started to decline substantially in popularity after like 3 or 4 platinum albums. Back then it was normal for a rapper to start to decline in popularity after 2 or 3 albums. I think people started to get tired of Ja-rule`s music because they felt the quality of his music decline. I think that had far more of an impact in Murder Inc`s decline then 50 cents. Tupac constantly dissing Biggie, and claiming he slept with his wife embarrassed Biggie in front of the world. But it did not cause a decline in his record sales. His second album sold better then the first. Tupac dissing jay-z at a time where Jay-z was not that big of a name in Hip Hop, did not have a negative impact on Jay-z sales. Jay-Z became a super star after Pac dissed him because Jay-Z music became a lot better. No matter how bad 50 dissed Ja i don`t think it had that much of an impact on his record sales, I think it was mostly Ja-rule music quality declining and the Feds messing with them.

Also it is the time when 50 cent and his G-unit label begun to take Murder Inc's market share.
In the Music Industry, if you take a long hiatus (like Murder Inc did because of the Feds) then there is someone right behind to replace you. Basically, 50 cent was at the right place at the right time to capitalize on Murder Inc's problems with the Feds. Also 50 had the backing of Eminem and Shady Aftermath, Obie Trice and D12, and Dr. Dre.

The Feds wasn't really going after Gotti. What they did was go after Irv first with a weak case before they started with Supreme for the sole reason to make sure that Gotti didn't get Preme a high price lawyer.
