@@jg1003 Zapraszam.
Must claim ignorance as to 4th vs 5th. I thought the 2019 Hybrid was 4th - when did they become 5th?
4th: 2013 - 2019
5th: 2019 - now
Hybrid awd is useless even in the latest model, rear e motor hasn’t got enough power to pull the car , Toyota knows that and in us they offer this rav4 with v6 petrol and proper awd that actually is as good as Audi and land rover , hybrids better fwd to save weight and equip with suitable tyres, you won’t go wrong .
This has to be worst in class. That turd is much closer to a 1 wheel drive than AWD. Very depressing results.
At least the white was indeed a turd. Selling it as a AWD at the time was false.
Opel antara 3,2
So far no volunteers with Antara...
Not impressed with my 2019 rav4 xse hybrid in snow with the best winter tires. Went to turn around in some snow that wasn’t that crazy and the front two wheels were spinning. The back wheels never kicked in to help get me out and I ended up waiting 4 hours for a tow truck. The front wheels were the only ones spinning after numerous attempts and various modes even pressing the traction control off button which I don’t think works either. Just kicks back in right away. Guess my suv actually isn’t “AWD”
That's strange. In current generation the system looks like working fine. Not the greatest but at least some power is going to the back. Did you try Trail mode?
I don´t understand,in other videos the rav4 5gen i´ts very much quick pushing the car forward!
Hybrid?
Yes,hybrid
@@osal4323 Link it please.
th-cam.com/video/Vdjb8CrAA6w/w-d-xo.html@@4x4.tests.on.rollers
@@osal4323 The difference is in rollers. Those from TFL are flat, wheel is on the top of them. Mine are different, wheel sits deep inside so it has to climb up to move forward, much more force is needed.
So the 2019 rav4 is bad offroad and the 2017 rav 4 4x4 just acted like a 2x4? That the previous model was crap does not make the new one good, just not as bad
Lol nobody is buying a RAV4 hybrid expecting it to be world-class off-road. This is just showing it is more capable than the previous gen. I have the 2019 and I'm pleased with its ability off-road. I've also owned a lifted XJ with 35s. They are completely different use cases.
@@devenswiergiel9324 you are right but the previous rav4 was not even a 4x4 , based on the video.
How do you like your new one? I might buy one but i am not shure if i am ok with the cvt couse i have a lot of mountain roads to cover and i think the constant high revs might make me unhappy after a while
@@SuperV8driver I love it. I have the XSE hybrid which is grey on black, it's sweet. And honestly, it's surprisingly quiet most of the time. The electric motors share the load most of the time which allows the engine to not have to work as hard. I only notice the engine noise when I absolutely send it with the pedal to the floor.
@@devenswiergiel9324 Yeah, but most people expect it to work like a normal Toyota 4x4, not worse. They buy a crossover also for better off road purposes, so it really undermines the car.
@@cytrynowy_melon6604 @Tom Wheeler This is AWD, not 4x4. People buy compact SUVs for daily commuting, good passenger room & cargo capacity. AWD in these are for poor weather and weekend trips camping, etc. AWD in this new RAV4 does all these well which is why it's too selling compact SUV in the world.
The only thing the 5th gen fails is the 3 wheel test
A 1WD vs a 2WD, not bad.
Again, Subaru FTW.
Yeah. Too bad Subaru doesn't make a hybrid Forester or outback :(
Maurizio Lattuada
Don't be so sure, there was no hybrid Subaru tested. Furthermore, they are going to get hybrid technology from... Toyota.
@@4x4.tests.on.rollers not exactly :) At least in Europe, for the end of 2019 the Forester and XV e-boxer are going to be sold. They have an hybrid system with a 118V Li-ion battery and an electric engine of about 12 kW, plus the classic FB20 gasoline with direct injection (150 HP) and the well know AWD plus the new X-MODE. In fact, the electric motor is inside the CVT.
I already made a test drive on it: in 4 person we were able to climb on a 70% slope with sand and mud having the X-MODE in "Mud&Snow" mode.
Subaru claims it to be a mild hybrid, but the system is able to move the car also on EV, clearly on short distances and low speed. It seems that below 80 km/h the engine is shut down when releasing the accelerator and there is enough battery charge.
The HSD of Toyota is on the Crosstrek (US version of the European XV), but it's sold uniquely in US and is a plugin based on Toyota, so a totally different system in respect to the e-boxer-
@@MaurizioLattuada Mild hybrid is not a hybrid. That is in fact standard car with some help (~17 hp) from a little electric motor, so ACT-4 system remains the same. It can't be compared to hybrids like Rav4 or Outlander PHEV.
@@4x4.tests.on.rollers it can move the auto on EV anyway, not like the other IMHO useless mild and micro hybrid.
Nevertheless would be nice to see it on the rollers. Nice job by the way 👍
I guess they both failed the 3-roller test?
Gen 4 wasn't tested on three rollers. Video with gen 5 coming soon 🙂
The score depends on channel
What do you suggest?
@@4x4.tests.on.rollers I'm not too much keen on awd but I saw another tests and It performed much better

What a crappy AWD system. Especially the 2017 model.
Hello
😳 Not good results 🤔
Their hybrid AWD is worthless, didn’t do much help trying get out of driveway, our Subaru awd is the best and gets us anywhere. Btw we got rid of the rav4 hybrid useless in snow !!!
LOL this is hilarious.
2019 Toyota Rav4's AWD was rated one of worst of all crossovers. Also, front Autostopping feature failed multiple times in testing. I like the new Rav4 but Toyota could have done better. Subaru fulltime AWD so much better.
Roma12 this is the hybrid version what you expect? Still is much better than previous version
Rated worst crossovers where? 2019 RAV4 is top-selling compact SUV world wide.
Subaru makes it good AWD systems but rest of their vehicles are average. Lacklustre CVT compared to RAV4 hybrid ECVT. Obviously reliability, longevity and resale of Toyota's are superior to Subaru as well.
The old really suck.
This is painful as all fuck to watch
