Dwight doesn't get enough recognition for what he's done. He wrote almost every one of his songs and yet has not received any awards for being one of the best in the business
Dwight in his prime fronting one of the best bands in music, country or rock! Pete Anderson is a genius and so glad I got to see these guys three times before Dwight went "Hollywood" and broke up with the Lonesome Strangers. I have this DVD and watch it often. I wish the Dwight Live video was available.
If you can see Brad Paisley in concert, he was the best sounding star I have ever played with. They old will come back I was a young man and country went pop in the 70s not all and there is still real country being played so it will come back like it should.
thank you perrydasavage! your're right now a days country is turning into pop and i cant stand it! my mom and i listen to good counrty: cash patsy haggard jonny paycheck conway jones.....now its pop! urgg. Dwight is freakin awesome...fav son guitars cadillac
'59 Esquire, all bridge, baby! I had to laugh when I saw Pete interviewed once, and he jokingly said . . . "I don't touch the tone, volume or selector knobs or switches . . . its all treble, dimed."
Pete Anderson is/was Dwight's sound. Once he left I can't think of a single hit that he has had. I think that had it not been for Pete, we probably would not have heard of Dwight.
@jarodmc fuck yeah i live 60 minutes from nashville. i used to hate country, i m a metalhead, but i got into cash and that lead to hank..now i love all old country....this new shit is to polished
Pretty sure that's Pete Anderson. This is from '86 or early '87; J.D. Foster is still in the band here (playing bass) and in '87 he was in Austin playing in the True Believers.
@themom2717 I cannot believe how succinctly you've put it. There is absolutely nothing that girl has to sing that sounds country. She's cute, but the fascination that people have with her ?singing? is beyond me... She cannot sing..and what she does sing isn't country - not real country....Kudos for saying that which is true.
I think the departure of the guitar player ( in this video ) a few yrs back made a big difference in Dwights career. Maybe its just me..?...But the guitarist had some cool ass licks and added that style and twang to Dwights music.
@clclightman I agree with you about Texas music being #1. But to be fair, Dwight is not Texan (he is from Ohio and Kentucky), and this Bakersfield sound is out of southern California, from the folks descended from the displaced Okies during the dustbowl. There are similarities to Texas swing, of course.
@darlincommitme b-Town baby. Lived there 12 years. '92 - '03. Saw him many times. Once with Buck, Merle, AND Bonnie. Another time Dwight headlined a NASCAR race at Mesa Marin. When Buck was alive, the Crystal Palace was hoppin' . Check out Trout's on Chester Ave. I am a next Gen. displaced Okie / Yankee.
Pete Anderson on Telecaster adds the Special Sauce to Dwight Yoakam's sound. He gives it that Country with an Edge sort of feel. Killer.
Dwight doesn't get enough recognition for what he's done. He wrote almost every one of his songs and yet has not received any awards for being one of the best in the business
lead guitar walks out to play intro like a real boss ... love it
Pete Anderson is one of the best.

Pretty sure that's Pete Anderson. This is from '86 or early '87; J.D. Foster is still in the band here (playing bass) and in '87 he was in Austin playing in the True Believers.
His jeans always look painted on. Not that I'm complaining.
I love his music. Wish I could say the same about his personality. Seems cold.
Totally agree! LOVE 3 Pears!!!
Love Dwight almighty and his twang thang
I'm a straight man, his second cousin if fact but, that is a funny-ass comment. Thanks for the chuckle...
Very, very good!!
Anyone have any idea what kind wireless unit Dwight uses on his acoustic? I've never seen that before. It sounds very natural.
Dwight Yoakum Secretary of Country, Tom Petty Secretary of Rock n' Roll. That's change I could believe in !!!!!

Such a sweet twang! Sorta, kinda, maybe! Lol!

pete anderson os THE best guitarist-Bar none.He made Yoakum's music solid.
I was wondering if that was him, but I didn't see him physically bend the neck, so I wasn't sure.
Pete was a badass.
@Mrvicabitch That is Taras Prodaniuk playing bass. These days he plays with Richard Thompson.
@jarodmc
You said it all!
