Something I’ve heard in so many interviews is how Barry Sheene so often went out of his way to help younger riders on their way up. You just don’t hear about Super Stars doing that. And for those to young to remember him trust me Barry Sheene was a true Superstar of the Sport.
Thanks Paul, fully agree with you. I’m of that era where Barry was our own British version of Valentino. It was him that got me interested from a very early age and then to Rog, Reg, Granty, and all the way through to the boys of today. Nobody has matched him in that time and it’ll be a long long time before anyone does.
These interviews bring back great memories, we knew Roger and his family from when he was club racing, all lived locally, and Chris Mayhew lived in our village too. As I said in another video, my dad used to paint Roger’s helmets before he was famous, and I still have an Arai towel that Roger gave us all those years ago. I can remember Kevin Stowe coming into my local (Brocklesby Ox) after his big crash, such a shame for a brilliant talent. Thanks for the videos, they deserve much more exposure.
Having followed the racing as a spectator during late 70's onwards, I found this really interesting. I remember to this day Barry Sheene doing the commentary when Roger was riding his bike, may well have been the end of season Brands Powerbike meeting. Roger was always a very smooth rider who never seemed to get ragged, but very quick, not unlike Roger Marshall in that respect. Great interviewing as always,Thanks
What a brilliant interview, Roger Burnett top racer ,top rider manager / coach & a great bloke, I could listen to this for hours especially if Stavros & Reg were there loved it
Good to here from Roger I remember going to the club races back in those days when Trevor Nation and Tony Holland where thrashing around the club circuit which were old airfields great to watch .Such an interesting interview Roger is just such an interesting guy to listen too he has achived so much and worked with so many interesting people in this fantastic sport . Much enjoyed the watch cheers ! 👌👍
What a pleasure to watch. Until now I had no idea of the man beyond he was a name riders choose to work with. Not any more, this shows why, 100% positive attitude with depth of truth & also a real gentleman & friend to so many talents I've watched with pleasure over the last 25years. It will be good when you have him back and we get more stories, the modesty of the man who leaves us to recognise that Kenny snr was watching his back for 15 yrs, as a rider and then manager. new lesson learned today, full on the throttle sideways chassis twist over jumps, years of doubt of weather I was being a p###y or not have an excuse beyond making chains last longer now 🏍
I agree completely. Many riders are quick to blame equipment/circumstances/other people but it’s the mark of the man that Roger is that he’s able to admit that openly 👌🏼
Poor form I know, but we decided to skip Snett and Thruxton as they're hard work logistically with all the kit. Oulton is 100% for us so we look forward to seeing you there, Dave 🍻
Back the 80s there was rumours about Roger Burnett his nickname was called pretty boy burnett because he always liked to keep his hair in place after a race after he had removed his helmet so i was told by my x husband
Great interview memories flood back, what a gracious guy Roger ✊✊🇬🇧🍺
Nice to hear an interview with Roger, watched him race many times back in the day.
Thanks Andrew, glad you enjoyed it 🙂

I’ve got a lot of work to do but your interviews have completely taken up my day.
Probably the biggest compliment I can take 😁 sorry to hold you up on your work but glad you’ve found us and thanks for watching 🙏🏼

Episode two at some point in the future 👍
Thanks Nick, glad you liked it. And yeah, other episodes are already in the pipeline 👌🏼
@@OffTrack_Podcast nice one 👍
I have great respect that he said I did not try hard enough. Its dead honest, not a lot of people do that especially if they have been successfull.

Great interview as ever, Roger what a true professional. Wonder if Mr Tuxworth is on his Christmas card list.
We'll find out in early September when we head back across to Laceby for a longer, more in-depth chat and hopefully with another guest joining us 🤫
Fabulous great chat
Cheers James 🙌🏼
What a guy 👏 very enjoyable thanks guys for the free entertainment it’s much appreciated, I will buy you a beer at thruxton Dave 🍻
Cheers, Dave! Ah, that's very kind of you but sadly we won't be there this year 😔
@@OffTrack_Podcast you’re joking 🙈no worries bud I will be at Oulton in September with my son so perhaps then mate 👍

Good to see and hear Roger again
@@OffTrack_Podcast cool see you there mate 👍
Wow now that was a mega interesting interview, what an incredible guy. Definitely winning the award for most bonkers hire car story 😂😅
It's definitely straight into the top three Hire Car stories 😁 plenty more to come from Roger 👌🏼
@@OffTrack_Podcast I could listen to Roger for hours. Awesome bloke
Roger burnet talking about Neil hodgson , that would be a great pod too 🧐🧐
There’s a show in the pipeline for that, John - we just need to figure out a date to record it 🙂
Back the 80s there was rumours about Roger Burnett his nickname was called pretty boy burnett because he always liked to keep his hair in place after a race after he had removed his helmet so i was told by my x husband
The other nickname was Roger Hairnet 😋
