OMG that tone, I always play this song and it's great to see it played by others how each one make our own interpretation. The last riff is very challenging!
if it wasn't because of Paul, i would've never grabb a bass in my life, that was over 15 years ago and it still is a core part of my entire being...Thank you for everything Paul, you are a legend
@@thepiratebass_ Back than he actually recorded on a musicman (you can find clips from the studio sessions, I suppose his Charvel PJ bass was too noisy or in bad condition for recording), he only got Warwicks during their tour after recording. Iowa and Vol.3 is where recorded with Thumbs, with the Ibanez ATK being used for AHIG. Tho he still pulled his Warwicks out for side projects like the Roadrunner United
Ouch ... Flea, Victor Wooten, Stanley Clark, Jaco, Cliff Burton, to say the least... look up these guys and you'll never look back ... This is child's play ... Not this guy particularly but your boi in skipjack
Awesome!! Man you should definitely check and do a playthrough of the song At All Times by Better Lovers! Amazing and tasty bass lines! You will really enjoy it! 😉
Yoooo. I got the lefty model, very sick bass! You running the pickup in humbucker mode or single? Btw here's a lil tip with those ATK300. You can adjust the gain on the preamp inside the elec. cavity, there'll be a tiny lil pot on the PCB board. Really nice for when you need more of that OOMPF ya know?
Hello. In this bass, did you remove the G string and place it from the second string adding B as the fourth string ? Did you tune the D, A, E strings one tone higher ?
SIC cover, I am very curious , what string gauges are you using, I never seem to find a good set for drop B, i know Paul used 55-110, but they seem pretty light, maybe swap the 110 with a 125 or 130?
So I talked with one collector who bought a bunch of stuff from when they auctioned Paul's gear. One of the pics was a custom set of strings from Dunlops, If I remember correctly 55-125. I would need to dig into my gallery to find the pic but yeah. Now was this set he put on all of his basses or maybe just the ones for drop A, I am not sure. But there's that, he already had endorsment from Dunlops since he used their Jazz 3 picks.
Discontinued but it wouldnt be that difficult to make your own. Get a black ATK and take off the pickguard. You could get custom inlays done as well if you really wanted them
Such a rare bass! I wish they weren’t discontinued!
Get a black ATK and take off the pickguard. Bam lol
What's the model name?
@jim3541 No sick inlays though
@@somepunkinthecomments471 its a ibanez atk bass, but paul's sig model is called the ibanez pgb1
Paul's bass!
i had a regular ATK-300, loved that bass
I still have :)
My dinner was never so perfect. 🤘
Bon appetit 😂

Sounds amazing. Imagine if you could actually have heard him better in the original mix, how much better the song would have been.
I think he recorded with a thumb, but it would have been cool 😅

That's why I really like Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat.
@@boogie3718 great info 👌
Paul Gray is literally the reason i started playing bass!
Ouch ... Flea, Victor Wooten, Stanley Clark, Jaco, Cliff Burton, to say the least... look up these guys and you'll never look back ... This is child's play ... Not this guy particularly but your boi in skipjack
Paul and Joey made this fucking band, and damn do you do them both justice with this cover. A+ as always!
I never would've thought I'd ever see Paul's bass in a righty! It's awesome 🤘🏽
Awesome tone man. People don't realize just how talented Paul Gray was and how awesome his basses were too. Great job brother. Made Paul proud
whoa!!! you got, all... the technique, the tone, the style, all!
I love how you don't even talk man you just show everybody how it's done great job 👍
I prefer to make noise than to talk, yes... 🥱
@@thepiratebass_ I've got a 5-string sound gear I've been wanting to get more serious about I just love the active pickups on it man
Who talks?
That suspension bridge cables sound is 🤌
That is such a killer tone! 👏
I've been looking for a 5-string ATK for ages. Insane how they're impossible to find now. Iconic tone.
you aint kidding, ONE for sale at the moment and it's in japan. (it's a natural though 😻)
I have one. I replaced the stock pickup with a nordstrand big blademan and now it's insane
@@vxidastronautSaw that a week ago, a decent price after conversion. Shipping & insurance would negate it haha.
@@ggates2500 plus it was made in the fujigen plant and over 400usd value so it gets import duties on delivery as well

Ibanez Atk 300 & Ibanez PGB ❤

You showed just one more time by your beautiful playing how actually groovy bassist Paul Gray was. Great job bro!
OMGosh slipknot! 😄
Paul Gray bass is beautiful!~
😏
Sic bass man. Your playing and tone sound great.
PGB1...beautiful bass. i love it
Really cool to see a new version of this cover with the 4 string! Your original 5 string cover helped me learn this song for a show 🤘
What a tone!
great bass tone

Lovin that Ibanez ATK
Damn that's a great cover! Always wanted to own an ATK
I like your bass, you play it very well 👏👏👏👏🤘🤘
What a sweet bass.
Muy bonito sonido de esa bass
Listen to confessions by slipknot from the album mate feed kill repeat (1996). The bass intro is perfect
RIP Paul Gray
Your cover of disturbed down with the sickness disappeared on TH-cam, I liked it, where I can listen to it.
What an insane bass tone! I'd love to see you do a cover of Disasterpiece by Slipknot
Dang 🔥
Such a nasty growly tone! Love it!
Dude , I NEED that bass. Also Sulfur would be cool next to cover
Еееееее какой жирный Бас!!! Круто.
Ibanez PGB so dope
Hell yeah man.
That growl 😈
PAUL GRAY!
nice
would like to see a bit more behind the scenes. bass amp setup / pedals etc
awesome
Literally the only Ibanez I wanna play.
Enfin une vidéo avec une ATK !! Cette basse à un super potentiel et pourtant , si négliger !
Utilise-tu une pédale ou un pré-ampli ?
Nice bass

I’ve got the ATK 405, which is already a pretty uncommon model, but what even is this model, haha! Anyway, the cover is nice, as usual...
Fkn great tone! could you give us a hint about your settings and gear for this particular tone?
I have an ATK. It's not Paul's signature but it's still a sick bass.
great tone man!!! what strings are you using?
Fuck yeah! 🤘🏽
Пол Грей был классный чел
Great tone man! What is your signal chain ?
Sweet Ibanez. I wish Paul's bass was less drowned out in their music.
need more headbang but good cover and good sound

На сколько помню sic в альбомной версии играется не в си, а в до

You can play "Cannibal Corpse - Frantic Disembowelment"?
Hello. In this bass, did you remove the G string and place it from the second string adding B as the fourth string ? Did you tune the D, A, E strings one tone higher ?
I don't know why Ibanez didn't make this badboy for lefty as Paul was from the lefty family...

I'm curious too! I'm using 50-120 for drop C, so I assume around 130 would be ok for a B on 4 string 34 inch scale bass.
So I talked with one collector who bought a bunch of stuff from when they auctioned Paul's gear. One of the pics was a custom set of strings from Dunlops, If I remember correctly 55-125. How long are your fingers
Is Paul Gray signature B E A D strings tunning?
I'm not sure entirely. I know that a lot of the songs he was tuned to B, F#, B, E.
how can one achieve that tone

Maybe my ears just suck, but this ATK sounds a hell of a lot like most Combustions that I hear people playing.
Wait 🫸🏼 did you change your name 📛? I could have sworn you had a different TH-cam channel name.
That's a neat PGB1 man! But to me "the Slipknot bass sound" is a Thumb 4, IMO that's exactly what is lacking in their current sound.
