- Join me and Carly Lane at Amoeba Music as we help her start her vinyl record collection through some cratedigging at the best record store in the world! I recommend her some essentials to start her collection with and she digs up some albums that inspire her as a musician.
Carly has a new single, "Stuck In The Middle", coming out soon, hear a preview of it at the end, and look forward to her EP coming out before the end of the year!

Simple way to start a collection. Buy music you enjoy listening to. That’s it.
Exactly!
Exactly, no need videos like these to teach you anything else.
Saw a vulfpeck album in the background...sick band look them up
Mr. Finish Line. I was like "HEY I KNOW THEM" lol
Production quality was aces. Would be down to see more vids like this moving forward.
So would I lmao
^Literally what he said, this is the kind of content that the vinylcommunity was missing all along... Sub is yours, looking forward to the next projekt!
I would have pretended to like her music too.
Van Morrison and Bob Dylan if you have to pretend to like them. Your a bigger noob than she is.
@@b50262 dude. He's just saying she's hot. Get a sense of humor
I’m commenting on a two-year old video, but man, I was really hoping that Ween “The Pod” was one of the picks when I saw it next to Hall & Oates.
Hey Matt! I really enjoyed the production quality and the cinematic shots in the video. Keep up the great work. I like the changes I'm seeing in the channel and excited for future content.
Thanks Tyler!
3:07 Is that a Vulfpeck vinyl!? (RHS of the Eagles record)
Burgers On The BBQ NEED THAT!
This was a great video. And I really want to hear more from Carly Lane's vinyl collection!
Really great production and editing on this one! 😊
I'm not sure who did the filming and editing on this video but who ever did should get credit. I think it was Carly Lanes team. I'm definitely going to sub to her channel and check things out.
Fantastic video Matt, great choices & the video looks amazing!
So aesthetically pleasing, you can really see how hard you & Chris are working on the channel.
Amazing editing and cinematography on video!
LOVE the production!!! Great job Matt, Chris, and Carly.
Thank you, as always, Travis!!
Plus, Carly is a Michigan girl, so she’s automatically amazing!!
Good to see diversity in your choices. Early Supertramp before Breakfast is amazing. My favorite Van Morrison Moondance. Stealers Wheel classic.
I picked up a couple of those RTI HQ presses and both had issues with ticks and pops that I typically don't have on presses like from Music On Vinyl or Rhino.
Well done Matt and Carly!
Loved the video!
I'd recommend her Suzanne Vega - Solitude Standing
Thank you my friend!
love what theyre putting on in the background, quasi, slum village, prince... cant go wrong
Gerry Rafferty was the lead singer in Stealers Wheel. I’m sure you heard of him.
The guy who sang "Stuck in the Middle with you" Also wrote ans sang "Baker Street" seven years later. Also, she should get Supertramps "Crime of the Century". One of the best ever albums and actually, a Story.
What’s pretty cool is if I were on an island and could only bring 10
Records, Bostons first and Hotel California would be on the list! The Beatles would take up much of the list along with Steely Dan, and a mixture of others. Enjoyed the video!
Go Blue! Also, Moondance is one of my favorites
I wish you had subtitles added for some of the bands to make finding them easier. What is the folk artist album you picked for her? Jamie Geraldo???
Ben Folds - Reinhold Messner from Analog Spark sounds amazing on vinyl!
I’m sure she’d love DEATH GRIPS - YEAR OF THE SNITCH
Breakfast in America is such a masterpiece, elite from her
She is a good ambassador for the state of Michigan !
Its like sneaker shopping by complex. Do this kind of vids more pleeeezee!!
Another great video! Nice job Matt, Carly and Chris. She said she had a single out on Spotify and I wanna give it a listen! Does anyone know what the song is called?
When we shot this, she thought it'd be up, but it's not up yet -- once it's ready, I'll post on social media so make sure you're following both of us!
What kind of setup would be cool to see.
I'm new to vinyl,so what are some important tips or things I should know?
Check out Matt's other videos. Vinyl Eyes is another decent channel on TH-cam. Channel 33 RPM has some useful information too. Frank (the YTer) likes metal but his information is great on gear.
50% of the time i was looking at her stomach.
That’s just sad and pathetic.
Why lol
@@reb286 people love getting triggered
right? I swear I didn't hear a word they said
Yo Stabba Stabba LOL no ones triggered. It’s more that the OP is someone to be pitied. Sad.
This was shot so BEAUTIFULLY!
Matt, good advice on that Eagles record. Why spend the money on a reissue when there's probably a few originals in the cheap bin?
Also, Gerry Rafferty, who wrote two songs that have become yacht rock classics - "Baker's Street" and "Right Down The Line" - was a member of Stealer's Wheel.
Slothrust was on the shelf, saw them in Pomona. Great band
I saw you skipped by the "Spoon" there, I would think Carly would be very into the band Spoon.
Recommendation master lol
one of my favourite record sets/collection and one I always recommend is Beres Hammond can’t stop a man, i recommend him to anyone who likes reggae. It’s funny how the music your parents played ends up being music you love lol
Cool video. A 70's suggestion for your collection. Check out Shirley Bassey's albums " Something"(a wicked version of Light My Fire) and "Something Else" the vocals and arrangements are fantastic.
Stealers Wheel, that's Gerry Rafferty who also did Baker Street
Hope Amoeba is able to get moved in to their new place soon.
I can hear the Boston (Tom Scholtz) guitar tone influence on the outro music. Cool!
Thanks for the suggestions regarding the new artists. As someone who is older I am always afraid to purchase new artists.
Please let me know what you think of them when you hear them!
I have a smaller budget but will try Suf Jan and Damien Jurado: Maraqopa thanks again
This was a good video. Really well made!
Thanks homie!
Do you think the current resurgence in vinyl is still growing, peaking, or diminishing?
I really like the guitar sounds on her record.
I do too :D
She is a pretty woman and she made some really good album choices. Too Many Records is a great channel. keep up the great work.
Utterly riveting!
lately ya'll been killing these videos, it's great!!!!
Thank you Andreas!!
Carly, your mom, and dad might have a few of these vinyl records!!!
Fantastic picks! I don't care for the new stuff unless it's jazz or classical! And I'm a hardrock/metal head guy (80s pop also)!
I'm going to play the home game. I ordered The Crandberries based upon your recommendation here.
Great vid! Did she actually end up buying all those records? Maybe I missed that part.
No she made an account on itunes and downloaded or streamed all of them
This was brilliant. The future for *TMR* looks bright. ✌😉
Thank you Eddie!
Her hair is, like, sooo last century skullery maid. She fuckin rocks!
What a coincidence,I just found Bob Dylan's Desire, and Super Tramp's Breakfast in America on cd, at my local thrift store.
Matt is king of the vinyl hunnies game
Can I’ve find you on Apple Music playlist because I’ve would love to add you to my Apple Music playlist ok.
-Retro: Scott Fox
this video is so good, so your recommendations. This is the content i pay my data for
Michigan.. represent, love the shirt.. Teach her Matt.. 👍
anything she picks I think is great
Damn, this was a great episode 👍
this video gave me acid reflux
It gave me the shits
I just became a patron. Im coming for one of those Polygondwanalands
Bloodlust sitting there. What an album!
Daaayum dude, you've come a long way from fan noise and gardeners in the background, this production is next level!!
Please tell me you didn't let her spend that much on the represses though when she could have ordered all that stuff for a fraction on Discogs lol.
Don't worry, she's in good hands :P
its hard not to copy the classics when they work so well
What’s that intro song tho ??
Well, that was time well spent.
Hotel California is a hard-and-fast must-have, but Uncle Acid's Blood Lust was just a few inches away, and has apparently become rare since then...
That Carly Lane is a pretty good singer! Her vinyl selection is none too shabby either!
Agreed on both counts!
That girl makes Michigan sweatshirts look good. Lol
Hey can anyone help me? I have been looking for a bootleg Kanye West “graduation” vinyl but I can’t seem to find one online can anyone help me with a legit website?
On discogs they only have “Cd’s”
Cool video and nice albums to kick of a collection. What impressed me with this one was the nice use of B-Roll, Drone Footage, and Time Lapse shots. This one took some time to put together. Very impressive.
carly has great taste in music love all the classic records shown.
She does!!
also props on the editing skills enjoyed it very much.
I spotted Stealers Wheel before you even showed it, it’s in my amazon shopping list
Go to a vinyl store and take someone who listened to and bought vinyl records but is over the age of fifty to be safe.
If you are interested in vintage / classics.
It would be like being in a candy store with a child.
Watch, follow and listen to them as they look around.
I had to check the outro song. Not sure if anyone made the connection. I thought it might be Carly...with the lyrics, "stuck in the middle..." Subtle callback to Steelers Wheels.
Desire's Dylan's best album, good one to own
More this kind of videos. And also if you are able to go small record stores.
For sure! Have you seen the videos on the channel from years ago where we shot in every record store in LA? Those could certainly use updates by now but they're still fun.
Wow, I guess I haven't. I have been subscribing your channel 6-10 months, so I haven't seen older videos. Thanks for recommend.
Never heard of steelers wheel...what!
Great video!
great albums are : Rick James Glow a pearl in the funk arena with a monumental Steve Ferrone on drums- Aldo Nova their first two albums the self titled lp and Subject two AOR masterpiece-Grand Funk Born to Die a msterpiece for one of the very bset American band of ALL times!
Mah-ray-KOH-pa. It's a county in Arizona. Desaparacidos have a track about it too. Quick guide to Spanish vowels- A- Ah E- you're the Fonz, eyyyyy. I- eeeeee O- oh U- oooooh, I have a tummyache
Her taste is very much elite
Want to start a vinyl collection ? Michael head and the strands : the magical world of the strands ! Buy it listen love it
She has great taste!
Have you ever heard of Jerry Rafferty? Check him out while you listen to Steeler's Wheel. Great stuff.
Gerry.
@@davidellis5141 Good for you.
Nice editing on this video
Vinyl is amazing! Get a FREE Vinyl Bowl! go.jesbooty.com/claim-vinyl-bowl
You deserve a lot more subs
I don't disagree. If you have any ideas on how, I'm all ears ;)
You’re are music recommendations authority and you haven’t a clue about Steeler’s Wheel?🙄
He's a hipster.
Apparently he's Casey Neistat lol
Kevin Smith The style of the drone shot and the b-roll wasn’t even close to Casey Neistat’s style. 😂
I like to think its more Peter McKinnon and a Casey Neistat Fusion :P
ASK VFX I agree with the Peter McKinnon comparison.
Matt, different from most of your videos but very good.
Thank you Christopher! It's fun to do some super high production videos every now and then. One day, we'll have the budget to be able to make all our videos this visually stimulating!!
From a classics standpoint all Beatles - mono Parlophone label. All Steely Dan. Yes greatest hits. Beach Boys all since 1967. Marvin Gaye -Whats Goin' On, Al Green's Greatest Hits, an English prog rock group Renaissance, the Kinks, of course Led Zepplin 1-5, Hall and Oates, Pink Floyd, Otis Redding's greatest hits, Bread greatest hits, Billy Joel, Doobie Bros living on a Fault Line and What were Once Vices, Linda Ronstadt all, Poco, Jefferson Airplane and Jefferson Starship. Toto, Christopher Cross first album, Journey, Allman Brothers, Little River Band, Eric Clapton Layla, Crosby Stills, and Nash 1--2, Joanie Mitchell all, Buffalo Springfield first album, 10cc , Sam and Dave, Al Jarreau, smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Four , Gladys Knight, Santana, the Van Morrison - all before 2000 esp Avalon Sunset - very moody, Elton John - all before Yellow Brick Road plus Blue Moves , Ambrosia, Stevie Wonder greatest as all albums are good esp. mid seventies and so many more. Stick to analog represses or where analog tapes are used in remastering as it affects the vinyl quality. Find/Buy late seventies Technics turntable SL 1200mk3 or better. Mid seventies mid to hi end stereo equipt til late eighties is very good. Collect for the music as opposed to funny or colored albums as that is another story.
So close to being able to grab Ween The Pod. Such a shame. 🤣🤣🤣 I got to say, a lot of what this guys recommends could be more interesting. If I was trying to expand a person's personal repertoire of music exposure it wouldn't be any of those. 5 I would recommend, anything by Tom Ze, Soft Boys Underwater Music, Shuggie Otis Inspiration Information,XTC's English Settlement, and Harlem River Drive's Harlem River Drive. May throw a little The Juan MacLean for some danceable stuff. Maybe some ESG.
About that Hall & Oates record... It is ALL digital and according to many people who’ve bought it, sounds like S#%T. The old single LP Hall & Oates collection that he mentions he has, “Rock and Soul Part 1” is the record to seek out. Analogue all the way
Nice edit in the beginning 🤣👌
Go Blue! U of M
Astral Weeks is the best album of all time
fun!!
Totally 8)
I got to be honest maybe you need to listen rather than just buy
