    LT is the one guy that I’m certain wouldn’t “rush” or “cut corners”. As a builder/fabricator he is very meticulous in every step. If he has a wire he doesn’t like the looks of, he will take the time to do what it takes to reroute, loom, or whatever his eye thinks it needs to satisfy his standards. LT is top notch in my book! Appreciate the content LT!!

    If you've never gone to a Drag and Drive event, GO with the COPO truck for Road Weeki! You'll learn so much you can apply to the ugly truck effort next year. I had to take "plan B" to Drag Week my first time, and I'm so glad I did.

  • @patrickhall782
    @patrickhall782 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I think you are doing the right thing. Doing race week 2.0 would be a financial waste at this point since it was for the ugly truck. Now that money and time can go into the truck and not cut corners like you said. Looking forward to what's to come.

  • @martyengland1964
    @martyengland1964 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Best to do it right first time for sure. I imagine you are going with Jesels for shaft rockers, if so I think they have a gauge for setting up the height for pushrods so likely won’t need to use checking springs. Think they prescribe to a different formula than midlift theory. I’m keen to see the build!

  • @davids7605
    @davids7605 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I was able to do RMRW this year from the wait list and it was awesome! Had a lot of doubts about going in a car that runs high 13s. Ran in the 14.0 class and I'm super happy that's what I did. Placed 10th out of 34 in the class with untuned 2010 Camaro SS on hard tires. Met a lot of cool folks and gained a lot of experience. Could I have waited to do a cam, heads, long tubes and tune? Sure. Might have broken into the low 12s high 11s but realistically I'd be happy with high 12s. If I would have waited until the car was "done", it could be more than a year. I think drag and drives are about the experience, the journey, the comradery, and the competition. My suggestion is go do it, don't wait and miss out!

  • @lizzifoster4161
    @lizzifoster4161 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'd have put the raylar setup on the stock block and cam. On a white board in a vacuum your base hp of 308@17psi made 657hp the extra 60hp from his heads make a base hp of 368 making 785@17psi boost, from a base of 368 as compared to the 308 horsepower boosted to 657. You can have 785, for a head swap. And you will put down better numbers, just be gentle putting the pedal down and DON'T DRIVE IT ON THE STREET! As that's piston popping zone, weather it's ring gapping or casting. But it should be safe for closed course if your gentle though. And do have the new block so the stock stuff is just spare parts. Just my input.

    BUT based on the safety stuff you made the right call. Safety above all else. Definitely driveshaft hoops and a good cage. If you were only shooting for 12s id say skip them, but 11.00 no need to risk YOUR safety. A truck can be rebuilt you cant.

    This may already have been done, but I would love to see a GMT 800 drivetrain swapped into a K2XX or LS drivetrain with a t56 or if you want to go slush box we can It can even be a power glide. It can be a 4L80... I p prefer manually shifting but to each their own. I just think that'd be a badass build. I mean I get it. You could just build the LT engine in the 6L80 but I'm not into the six speeds. There's just way too many gears and a direct injection and other things about those LT engines that are unreliable. Cuz reliability is a huge thing. I would consider when building something. If I had the money and tools and time to do it. I'd want to be able to rip the thing all the time, not just once in a while. You only live once... PS even a stock for real 80 in stock LM7 in a K2 XX would be better than what comes in the thing from factory that includes the next model 4th gen silvy 5th gen sierra

    If you were really committed you would whittle the valve train parts out of a chunk of aluminum using a butter knife.

    No worries, what you're doing has to be costing a small fortune plus all the things you did to your other truck! Your wife must make some good $$ for you to do what you got to do so far, it's ok that it's going to take a little longer, times are tuff right now.
    Maybe by next year you'll be up to 150K subs and $$ won't be so hard to come by to do these very expensive high end cool builds?

    Like so many of the previous T.V. personalities your projects and presentation lack the "it" factor that popular modern TH-cam channels create without effort.

    Disappointed for all the right reasons........... I've heard very successful racers say that the race is won in the shop i.e. good preparation wins. You're right, I think if you'd forced yourself to participate in race week this year it would have become a version of Road Kill...... constantly fixing something. which IMO is not what your channel is about. Might consider Sick Week in early 2023, not at all close to you but its much earlier in the year.

    Well, wait and “do it right” or run the orange truck, secure your spot for next year. Then, get the black truck built at a good pace, no stress of wondering IF you will even get a spot for next year, and would have made better content. Hard to keep hearing about 1,500 HP this and that, yet we get 5 videos about remaking the same exhaust system over and over.
    Please, if going this route, stay away from talking updates and any more exhaust videos or repetitious “filler” . Run what you have now, learn what is realistic to try and achieve during these events and go for it big on the next one.
    Tons of TH-camrs these days, patience only buries you in the algorithm to keep you trending. I get your montra, but it’s TH-cam. You are fighting for views from folks that have the attention span of a gnat.
