I think I have a ligament claim. Have sleep study done and diagnosed with Extreme sleep disorder. 70 percent rated PTSD. Obesity is confirmed in my VA medical records. Plus a long list of so many confirmed diagnosed health issues.

can you refer me to a doctor that can do a NEXUS letter for a sleep apnea? I am currently diagnosed with sleep apnea but I do not have how to connect to military time or as a secondary claim to a primary claim.

Secondary to PTSD. Your medications can cause weight gain which causes sleep apnea . You need that intermittent step . Hill & Pontok says a lot get denied and has to go to the board in which 95% of the claims get approved

I understand that it matters how the disability affects your work. Does your occupation have an effect on the C&P examiner or Raters decision if a disability is service connected? I don’t want the VA blaming my job as a police officer.

I’ve had the machine since, 2009, had 4 sleep studies,I have high blood pressure diabetes, anxiety, depression and told by my Va doctor, I’m obese. Still turned down. What must I do?

I was a bachelor until just before I retired (21 years in the Navy) and never never was aware of the sleep apnea term much less if I had it. After I retired in 2000, my bride over the years told me I snores. Fast forward 12 years or so I was diagnosed by my CIV DR. with it and got a mouth pease. Recently VA retested me and received a new mouth piece.
VA won’t agree or approve any sleep apnea rating because…. you guessed it, ‘not in my record’. Total BS!!!

This law firm just denied helping me with sleep apnea against the VA. They referred me to Disabled Veterans. Ive been suffering with sleep apnea since leaving the military in 1992. I did get diagnosed for PTSD though. So at least i have a basis to go off of and continuing claims and try to get what i deserve. If anyone knows a doctor in nevada for nexus letter please let me know. Thank you all for your service

I claimed OSA secondary to PTSD using obesity as an intermediate, provided a sleep study, a letter from my wife, a police report due to falling asleep on the wheel ending up in an accident, a nexus letter from a psychologist and STILL...STILL...got denied. My plan of attack is to submit a Supplemental claim with a letter from my Sleep Doctor connecting the two conditions (I hope he cooperates) and a DBQ and give it another shot. When QTC calls me for the next C&P I will tell them to refer me to an examiner who is a mental health professional, since the one who denied me was a Nurse Practitioner, she did not use the DBQ and only took 8 minutes to conduct the exam. I have no idea how the opinion of a Nurse Practitioner can have more weight than the opinion of a Doctor in Psychology but it seems like this is part of VBA's "bread and butter." If I get denied again, I will go for an appeal and will need the services of a law firm.

Wow!!! This same shii happened to me! I got TWO Letters from two seperate mental health professionals! A doctor and a Phycologist! My CP examiner was 30 mins late to the exam first of al.. lied about things i said by putting “My wife is forcing me to do this exam” (im not married) 😂… and then went on to say Soldier does NOT have any Symptoms or diagnosis for PtSD!
We asked QTC for an investigation and the VA! Both said “we asked the CP examiner and he stands by his findings, says they are accurate”
My girlfriend and I both were in the exam and I will honestly say… this whole Rating system is messed up and flat out wrong!!!

The C&P examiners are just denying out of laziness.

I got a Nexus letter and 3 buddy letters plus a letter from my wife after the VA sent me to the C&P exam and their own doctors stated that I have Sever Sleep Apnea with blockage and the VA issued me a CPAP machine also I was diagnosed with Chronic Sinusitis and they gave me 30% for that and still denied my Sleep Apnea claim even as a secondary Man these people are full of shit and it seems as if their job is just to be denying all of the a Veteran claims mind you I got out years ago and didn’t understand why this had been occurring Plus I work for VA ridiculous what else do they want us to provide🤷🏾‍♂️

I'm guessing, you need to get more exams, claim the condition worsen and this has made it harder for you to keep a job, where you been suspended, denied promotions which has caused financial hardship to your family. Often the VA will put more weight on a worsen condition than the first claim for the condition.
