As an African American who has visited the Philipines, and a Christian, I would say that it is important for Fillipinos to see themselves not as inferior, but equal. If a person truly has a real relationship with God, the love of God reveals to that person that they are His and are equal. You should not look at your skin tone either as less than because it is not white. You will discover that when you travel to Europe that your skin tone (brown, tan, olive, even black) is loved there and is considered exotic and beautiful. God created different people, different foods, different music, etc so that we can enjoy each other.

You want to know how Filipinos feel about America? Go to southern Philippines and ask a person on the streets of Mindanao. You don’t ask some well dressed Americanized scholars in the comfort of an American tv studio.

as a kid, society has always been tilting towards the "american dream", but later on, after realizing how bad american colonialization impacted my dear country - how it was raped and stripped off of its glory. naahhh, ikinasusuklam at isusuka ko na mag pledge allegiance to their flag at i-deny ang aking loyalty sa aking lupang sinilangan.. No way! bahala na walang citizenship nila.. hindi ko ikamamatay iyan. I am Born Filipino and will die as Filipino. Proud Filipino.

Filipinas por España: Narración episódica de la rebelión en el archipiélago filipino, Volume 2 By Emilio Reverter Delmas, Printed Centro editorial de A. Martín, 1897 -
""The natives have no knowledge of our Spanish language. It's almost the same as it was during Legazpi's time. They barely understand us and we do not understand the natives, not little, not much. The leyes de Indias (Laws on Education) that has been much talked about has never been complied with and they are dead letters. The same as other laws on the teaching of the Spanish language."

Spaniards: in the colonising process, achieved Phillipines territory and unity, organisations, wide cultural and religious influence. (Circumcision and annulment🤣). One great positive: stopping Islamisation 👌🎷🙏 --- unlike Malaysia and Indonesia.
One devastating legacy: elitism (aristocrat class), where a group of Filipinos were groomed to be their proxies in controlling the mass. These privileged class of Filipinos were left with owning most of the choice real estate when Spaniard rule ended. No land reform. The mass left landless and poor, renting and toiling for the landowners. This was a tragedy. This accounted for the stark social positions between the super privileged rich and toiling poverty stricken mass. Even the Philippine government attempted land reforms, but with the rich in high places in politics, land reform failed.
(In contrast, after Japan surrendered, land reform was imposed and absentee landlordism was abolished. Each family got a piece of land they can till for own survival, and not labor for some unscrupulous landlord.).
Slums is a result of failure in land reform.
    🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑
Egalitarian. American experience in the Philippines was a net positive. Elitism was discouraged, but the landholders from previous regime continue to benefit. Now the social dynamics have undergone dramatic changes through domestic developments and economic improvements and earnings abroad. Remitances lifted millions from pathetic poverty.💸💸💸💰💰💰
Today: Philippines is a miracle and unstoppable. Of course, the poor will be always with us, but many have moved on with better things. Praise God❗
