A couple things stood out to me in this video: sin ruins us, people, and communities, sin is an offense to God.
Also, it is clearly written in the bible should we consider in sin so that grace may abound... definitely Not!

"Without holiness, no one shall see God"
    Hebrews 12:14
Our goal should be, living our lives trying to sin-less and not looking to be cuddled in our sin.
The Bible is our standard, that's what we all will be judged by not the words of anyone else spitting out what we want to hear.
The more we seek after God by His Holy Spirit, the less we desire to sin.
    May God give us wisdom!

    2 Corinthians 7:10
(NIV) Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.
(NLT) For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death.
Godly sorrow (over our sins and in us acknowledging our need for Jesus) leaves no regret but leads us to God's salvation! Amen!

I feel that some pastors/preachers dwell on sin in order to make people turn away from sinful lifestyles, but that is a work of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the one that will help us turn from our sinful ways, not ourselves and not the preacher yelling from the pulpit.

I have enjoyed these conversations, I just want to add I think Hebrews 10:26 covers this question well. It’s like if you’re married and your spouse says they love you but continues to mistreat or cheat on you at some point you have to question their love for you, so If we continue to willfully sin it shows how we truly feel about God and our relationship with Him. Therefore I think that’s why preachers continue to harp on sin and obedience.

Sexual sin is the only category of sin that we excuse because "we can't help who we love." Do some preachers speak more loudly and focus on sexual sin? Sure. The strength of the Gospel is greatly diminished when one does not realize the pervasiveness and the universality of the strength of sin. The strength of sin requires the power of God! The Gospel is that power! (Romans 1:16). And if one is to preach the Gospel, under the unction of the Holy Spirit, you will have a raised sensitivity toward sin because one of the Holy Spirit's prime jobs is to convict (not condemn) the world and the Church of sin (John 16:8).

Confusion.... that's what happens when you have a book full of rules and a pastor says, "Weeell you really don't have to follow that....if your spirit is right, you'll just automatically live right." Really?? Well what if I want to sleep with my married co-worker cuz she fine and been coming at me? "Weeelll son you must not be full of the spirit." How bout this....."Thou shall not", means exactly that....God told us to fear him for a reason. You don't cross someone you fear.....
"Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man." Ecclesiastes 12:13

    • @bobbydawkins3

You're not saved into rules and regulations but into relationship. If you're in right relationship with Him through His Son, then as His Son said, "Do my commands/keep my commandments". We all have issues with the relationship and some have issues far greater in number and magnitude than others. To your point, confusion plays a very large and sometimes unnoticed role.

Read Matthew 13 again and you'll see Jesus didn't talk in parables bc it made sense to his audience. None of his parables made sense to even his apostles. He would have to talk to his apostles in private and explain the parables to them. Isaiah prophesied their eyes wouldn't be able to perceive even though they see and they wouldn't be able to hear even though they listened.
Only those who actively seek the truth and accept it will be able to see and hear what God wants us to see and hear and it should change us for the better. We shouldn't continue in our sins. Even though it's in our nature to sin we should be actively trying to turn away from them.

The answer is we are supposed to keep the laws, statutes, and commandments so we can get eternal life. That’s the reason Christ died for our sins so we can have grace to get our lives in order. That does not mean to keep sinning pastors have to keep bringing it up because people keep sinning. Rev. 22:14 that was a simple answer.

Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ Jesus and his apostles gave many other warnings like this. For example, in Matthew 24:42-51 he warns his servants that if they backslide he will come like a thief (when they least expect him) and assign them a place with the hypocrites where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth (talking about hell). So to answer the question of why some preachers tend to dwell more on sin, it is because they have a better understanding of the scriptures to know that Jesus didn't die for us to continue in sin, but for us to be forgiven when we repent (turn away from sin) and follow Jesus. The Bible is clear about this for those who don't ignore scriptures in order to please people. Hebrews 10:26-30 says "If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know him who said, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will judge his people.” It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God." All of these scriptures are talking to "so called" believers in Jesus, and there are plenty more of them. Preaching about sin is NOT about beating people down, but about raising God's standards and encouraging people to live the way God commands us to. People who only want to focus on "God's love" and avoid talking about sin purposely ignore the truth of "God's wrath" and hell as if God only loves everyone. If that were true then there would be no one going to hell. The real truth is that it is not "love" when we fail to warn our neighbors about the greatest danger they face (which is eternal damnation if they don't turn from their sins); all because we're trying to be cool with them or scared to offend them or scared they'll leave our churches. Jesus offended folks so much that they killed him on a cross with no one to intervene. People today make him seem like this timid character that's afraid to offend people and doesn't want his followers offending people. That's not the truth or the real Jesus who talked about sin and hell and told the adulterous woman "go now and leave your life of sin" (John 8:11).

How can you read the bible and NOT depend on man

Hello@@oldschool5. A key word in my statement is don't "just" (only) depend on men. I'm referring to those who don't go back and read for themselves, but only lean on pastors' or denominational interpretations instead. This is dangerous because it creates the scenario of the blind leading the blind. I'm not against people listening to others altogether, as God's servants are supposed to spread God's word to the ends of the earth. However, people are being harmed and misled by bad doctrine (misinterpretations of scripture) by both individuals and denominations. Yet, itwill still be one's own fault in the end when they stand before God at judgment, if they did not take the time to seek God for themselves for the truth and about what He desires (which is most important in life).

@@oldschool5 hi. To add to his statement, the Bereans didn't just take Paul's word to be as good as gold but searched the scriptures daily themselves to validate everything he said(Acts 17). Also, God instructs us in His Word to put all things to the test (1 Thess 5:21). Don't depend solely on man for reading the Bible or anything for that matter since man is an arm of flesh (Jeremiah 17:5) but trust in the Lord. You can have a modicum of confidence in certain people to assist you so that you don't make the error of studying in a vacuum but trusting in Him is the way.

@@bobbydawkins3 I see what you sayin but there has to be an absolute trust in man to get to where you talkin about. Man told you that his written words are the words of a god. You happen to trust and believe man when he has made those claims.
If you dont give man total control, you would never know the god of the bible. You allow man to speak to you on behalf of god... that is one of the highest forms of trusting man... and the ONLY way to god of the bible is through man.
There is no dealing with god without putting your full trust into the words of man
There are millions of people all over the world who have never seen a bible and know nothing about bible god...and they never will until man tells them about bible god. They will be here on earth waiting for man to tell them about a god who will never go beyond man to introduce himself. You gotta trust man to get to god of the bible

History repeating itself. The devil has the same tactics of condemnation to make people beat themselves up. The same way the scribes and Pharisees highlighted and shamed people for sin because they were considered chosen is the same things that are being done today. Hebrews 9:26-27 AMP makes it clear when Jesus comes back, He is not coming back for sin. The focus on sin is to place people in mental bondage and have the afraid to live life because of sin.

    • @aaronmay1661
      @aaronmay1661 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Have you considered that the Holy Spirit is the one convicting people about their sin (John 16:7-9)? You mention Hebrews 9:26-27, but what about Hebrews 10:26-31 warning us about continuing in sin? We should be afraid to sin, but that doesn't equate to being afraid to live our lives. Jesus tells us to fear God in Luke 12:4-5: “I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after your body has been killed, has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him." Please understand that sin is nothing to take lightly before God. If people are shamed because of sin, that is from God, and it should lead them to repentance and later righteousness (Ezekiel 18:20-32). Now, if they feel they can't be forgiven, perhaps that could be from the devil, but sometimes it is true (Judas for example) because God's forgiveness is not infinite as many people claim.

Because The world operates by a divine order. Sin is disorderly behavior originating in disorderly beliefs. Forgiveness eliminates the past to provide a “clean slate” for Disciples (ones who obey the disciplines of the divine order). Some disciplines that are associated with “white supremacy” are orderly principles that render orderly outcomes. The orderly outcomes are available to all practitioners!
