Bro, one thing I'd be careful with, and I am not sure what exactly you mean, is the transmutation of lower or darker desires as you call them. There is nothing wrong with them and I don't believe our goal here is to get "free" of them but rather to be free WITH them and possibly refine them.
Another thing I am not super in line with is what you call mechanical or mechanical mind. Like first of all the left brain has its place and secondly everything physical is in some sense mechanical. I like what Bruce Lee said about this in his one famous interview.

Also, within that extension is the seven visible spectrum of virtues that ally us upon the path. A weapon (temptation or desire) is an instrument that can protect or detract us, if we know how to work with it.
