Just going to say... a few of my local lakes in the OKC metro sound exactly like this. The local weekly jackpots from one lake to another are ridiculous. One at the better lake the winning bag can be 10 pounds plus while the other one... is 2 lbs!!! I thought it was just me and it probably has some to do with it lol
Very good points. I been out fishing where people on the lake tell me the fish aren't biting but I'm catching nice ones in the 3 to 5lb range.

Lakes in my state seem to be managed for numbers rather than size. 1-2 lbs. is average. If you've ever fished a place where all the bass have concaved stomachs, are less than a pound and very easy to catch, this is a sign of mismanagement. There might not be a big fish in the whole body of water. But that's a pond thing. There are also lots of public places where the fish are so pressured they won't bite and even learn to feed at night. I've been told by the man who ran our local fish hatchery you can't fish a pond out because a certain number of bass simply won't bite.
lake must be very healthy here, been here 2mo and 7-10 bass are common, heck I caught a 24lb carp on a plastic worm! Alot of turtles though....
One of my local lakes is never restocked with fish and is considered highly pressured. Last weekend I was out with maybe 20 other kayaks and 6 bass boats and no one caught anything that I talked to. Is it lake mismanagement or do we all just suck lol?
Like when you are fishing the shallows you see zero fry or baby bluegill or even baby bass.
This exact thing is going on at my reservoir , however I believe it’s a bunch of local fisherman that are prematurely fishing shallow for prespawn . So when they all dock talk it seems like a fish thing and not a fisherman thing .

It's truly sad when a lake is mismanaged an run by a bunch of people, with no regard for fish life , on my home lake the county decided it was a good idea to dump a ton of toxic chemicals in the water to kill the weeds around docks and other structure, which I totally understand from the point of the people with those docks and everything surrounded by weeds, but chemical dumps aren't the answer ever since they did it, toxic algae blooms show up every summer and kill off massive amounts of fish. Idk how to even combat this problem
Being from a place that has 10,000 lakes there's not a lake in our state that is managed properly
But it's so much easier to blame someone else when we can't catch anything! 🙂
