This was beautifully to watch someone use skill to weave, so much patience is needed.
Thank the Lord for machines. And thank those who use their hands even more

It's so amazing to watch this video because my mom would tell me stories of how, as a girl in the mountains of Laos, she would weave hemp strands together to make thread and how she would turn the thread into fabric. I would listen to her talk but had no idea how to imagine the process. Watching this video makes her words become clearer as though I'm finally able to see images form on photographic paper. Thank you for capturing these life long skills of the Hmong people.

0:23 i'm Hmong, but I speak a white dialect. I think that's it's so interesting to hear the black dialect.
We practically use the same sounds but pronounce everything differently.

The hemp straws at the beginning of the actual weaving are to align and balance the warp across the beam. As well as check for mistakes in threading the heddles.

Boiling in ash water probably does bleach the fiber but it is mainly to remove the gum or resin which increases the durability and longevity of the fibers.
