20:00 My 2-Month MCAT Study Calendar Hello friends, this video is super long so thanks for sticking around till the end (especially my fellow Gen Zers with short attention spans like me)! I’m trying something new this video, i.e. paying my ghostwriters 50% more, in hopes of making boring topics (what’s more boring than the MCAT??) more engaging. Let me know below if you think the ghostwriters deserve the raise and I’ll be sure to censor the comments to my liking! My next four videos will be on each of the four MCAT sections (specific tips and example passage walkthroughs) so stay tuned!
Can you please reply this. Did you apply as citizen or international student. I am international student had bachelors degree in US and live in US but I am scared of my status and chances of any med school accepting me at all
@@jenniferaidoo2423apply as international stud in school that accept international students. Try to find a co-signer or a private loan that could guid you through your years once accepted. Also ask the school financial aid that admitted you if they can help you anyway.
@@rimrd1342 absolutely not true. There are several med schools that accept international students. It is more competitive applying as an international applicant but certainly doable
About to speed-run this MCAT grind. First month was a very slow start given that burnout from the school year was still carrying over (and general lack of discipline), currently slightly less than 2-months left and this video gave me the extra bit of motivation I needed. Anyone else studying for the MCAT, best of luck
@@Spectre01 I survived at the least! My scores aren't out yet but I'm trying not to stress myself out by thinking about it 24/7. I definitely think I could do better and I might (?) retake it if need be next summer while I'm working now that I've got a good bearing on how to study for it :) I would say, 100%, that half of the MCAT is the mental struggle of studying pretty much daily and staying disciplined to make the most out of your time instead of glazing over notes. Something that I need to work on haha
@@tttesting Awesome to hear, I'm sure you did well! As a 3rd year pre-med, I know exactly what you mean. Studying for the MCAT atm and am planning to write it in Jan/Feb next year and it seems like I'm not who I thought I was, or at least who my grades represented me as. In any case, hope it works out for you and see you on the other side (aka med school) one day!!!
@@Spectre01 How've you been? Hope it all went well! I'm going round two this summer while working full time in a lab in a few months (Sept) to aim for a higher score :))
watching all the other MCAT videos really put me in a spiral of being overwhelmed but then i stumbled upon this video and i can't stop laughing -- thank you so much for giving such wonderful advice while putting a smile on others' faces :)!
This video genuinely just inspired me to get myself out of my major study burnout and actually study. I really appreciated the tips and the schedule since I now only have two months to study as well. Thank you for this!
This was actually really helpful (and funny). It is also almost February for me (lol). I’ve put off studying for a long time due to anxiety but am ready to dive deep into it and hopefully get a good score.
I want to do an MD/PhD program too! I'm spending some time at the NIH to become a stronger scientist and hopefully future physician. Very worried about my MCAT score ruining my application though... hence why I'm here. Thanks for the video!
Ultimate Psyc/socio Strategy: Read 90 page summary notes, while watching the Khan Academy P/S videos at 2x speed. If you do 15 pages a do, you can go through the entire document in 6 days.
I failed my MCAT exam 2 times first was 2012 second was 2018 and I lost money on review questions and also wasted a lot of time studying which never helped me .
I’m retaking in a couple weeks. It’ll be my third run. I got a 526 last time but I wasn’t able to apply for various reasons. Hoping to apply this year. Fingers crossed.
This video really helped dude (especially the jokes this is the only mcat video that has made me smile lmao)! For practice, did you use anki or the question banks provided by aamc at all? Or did you rely more on content review and your notes than actual practice questions?
Is there any chance you would be willing to do any private lessons, perhaps once a week zoom meeting going over some practice passages for chemistry and physics? (Also a bit of biochem in there) I have a little less than 2 months left, this is my first and only mcat I will be taking before applying this upcoming cycle and I have awful content gaps that I couldn’t manage to get through using the Kaplan books due to zoning out and I don’t retain anything from just reading. regardless, I realize this is just the comment section here on TH-cam, but I am quite terrified and seeking help from anyone who has a good understanding of Chem and physics. I really like how you break down everything into simple terms and your relatable sense of humor.
Hi! I just started reading the Kaplan biology book and started taking notes and shorten the info, then I came across the chapter summery at the end, which in my opinion pretty much covers all important info in a simpler way. Do u think it’s a waste of time to cover the small details that’s not on the summary, or just briefly read through the chapter, but really memorize the summary, and spend more time on Anki and practice questions?
I’m planning on taking this exam in September. I already took a diagnostic exam which made me feel more certain. Also this video made me feel more certain. What about recalling like Anki?
I heard that there isn’t a big difference between the old Kaplan books and the new Kaplan books. I have the 2017-2018 book set, do you think I’ll need to purchase the 2022-2023 book set?
I also was wondering if there was a way I could stretch the 2 month schedule over a 4 month period so it is not as stressful. I will be taking classes this semester and it would be nice to study slow and steady over 4 months instead of cramming over 2
Yes that’s probably an even better idea to study 4 months and double the time! It’ll help you absorb the info a lot better if you’re not rushed so much lol
@@RoyceDong Thank you so much for replying! :) The google drive leads to either a 300pg version or 20pg version, is that correct? Just wondering if there was an official 100 page document for the psych/soc review :)
I have studied Kaplan books for my MCAT but I cant recall any information and my practice tests are content gaps so would you recommend studying from the start? Or just continue practicing and studying content along the way? The exam is in next 2 months
My personal study style is to study everything super thoroughly, so I will make sure I've completely understood and retained a topic before moving on to the next one. But I also know other people like to skim through all the material superficially multiple times and that works great for them. Sorry I can't give you a definitive answer, it honestly just comes down to what works best for your brain. Good luck!
So, they're basically already notes so did you take more notes on the pages you would read or did you just read the 10 pages of the day and that was it?
That’s a great question. The short answer (in my opinion) is that you should try to take at least *most* of your pre-med classes before studying for the MCAT, but it’s okay if there are some classes you haven’t taken.
I think even if you take the classes that will be covered on the MCAT (e.g. let’s say you take intro bio at your school), you’ll still have to study biology using the Kaplan books for the MCAT because your intro bio course won’t cover all the same topics that are in MCAT bio. So talking the undergrad courses beforehand only *helps* you for the MCAT section, but prob aren’t sufficient on their own without doing the Kaplan book. Also, if you haven’t taken the undergrad course yet, you can still self-study the section completely using the Kaplan books and you should still be fine-Kaplan is pretty comprehensive for bio and physics (and khan academy is comprehensive for psych) and you shouldn’t need outside info, e.g. from an undergrad course. FYI I didn’t take biochem before the MCAT so I self-studied that entirely using Kaplan and that was okay for me
Hey thanks for the tips but I was wondering if you could post your study schedule for people to copy? I wanted to base my studying of your schedule. Thanks!
