TH-cam algorithm is one of those things that can't be understood by a rational mind. Until a week or two ago this video had maybe 1k views and now... :-D No idea what's this about.
I remember when I played Sacred 1. Similar spell, you cast some fog on the ground and every enemy won't attack you even if you attack them. Spell lasted for more than 20 seconds and cooldown was 4 seconds...
In the older versions of G3, you could fight these 1 VS 1 (minus guys with long ranged weapons) in spite of their big numbers (fair fight, damn it). Later it got fixed... But then I stumble upon your video and find out that you could just fart your way trough the enemies, making them shocked to the point that they don't even do shit and kill them off with another spell. Magic is wonderous thing, it seems...
@@jasparta993 in g2 mage was the worst style, the best was archer second was melee warrior and mage was far behind them, in g1 mage was much better than g2 but g3 mage was the best, probably op in compare to meele
@@Skorpion1991 Melee in g3 have own life ;) Very "knightly". In g2 u only want Fire storm x2 and all Orcs are gone. Early is harder coz u're nearly forced to use melee... but staff +20 mana was bugged, so u can use fireball everytime... but u need "high ground" to make it very helpfull.
@@jasparta993 you can use rain of fire vs orcs even if you are not a mage, you need only 5 mana and scroll (a lot of them are avaliable) and mage need 150 mana for that... I know the staff bug that give you 20 mana but its waste of time, its even better to buy and drink mana potions, anyways mage use too much of mana, many times spells doesnt work if enemy is too close because of bug its very hard profesion in the early game, in the lategame is ok but still nothing special
Pretty good inspiration video to use fog as the main tactic in combination with ice spells - this just shows the astounding combinative potential of Gothic 3. There can be so many ways how to proceed with spells, not to mention to be even the battle mage, hunter-mage, dark-mage, druid or play melee combat - replayability is very high. I had this idea to use fog to hide from enemies in Cape Dun after starting the quest Wenzel cleans to cleanse Cape Dun from the orcs - but I had just the scrolls back then, and they sucked. But now I have 270 ancient knowledge, way beyond 20 lvl and beyond 30 learning points, so I can do whatever I want - I may try to learn the fog as the spell and use it with the fire rain as the mainstay whereas I have no Meteor yet. Still, to come close to fog and burn enemies looks to be pretty bold and sophisticated at the same time. It appears to be cooler than using Demon as a tank to fire rain on the enemies from behind. The cool thing is that even low-level spells can be extremely useful if used wisely, especially, in conjunction with higher tiers spells.
My only issue with magic in G3 is that it feels too strong most of the time. As soon as you learn mana regeneration passive, the game is basically done, there's nothing that can ever threaten you again and every fight becomes one-sided. Playing melee oriented characters feels more fun to me for that reason.
Yt randomly recommends this to me, looked at the pic and thought "wow, what is that Elder Scrolls Online outfit?" Then i noticed it was a whole other game haha

mage is so hard to achieve with 1.75 and alt balance lol. it's definitely worth the grind especially with all the new shit added. Any tips for getting good killing enemies with the update? right now i'm kinda bad haha
Yeah, they kinda messed the game up in this update (1.75), it wasn't bad before, but with the new AI behavior fighting in melee is really annoying. From my experience, the best melee tactic is to use really long 2H weapon and keep enemies at a distance. I have a video in my Gothic 3 playlist where I show how to deal with most types of enemies in melee without taking any damage th-cam.com/video/HqrDxhcQkgU/w-d-xo.html. Some dangerous monsters (like dragons) can be easily killed with a bow, you just need to stand behind cover to block their fireballs and bring enough arrows :-) On my latest playthrough as a mage I was using these tactics to grind easy monsters (I don't remember what weapon I was using, probably a scythe or a spear) and complete most of the quests in the first few towns, I only invested points in Quick Learning perk and went straight for Mana Regeneration perk. Once I had enough points to learn mana regen, I got teleport stone from the cave in Gotha, went to the capital, ran past all the orcs without fighting and got my mana regen + fireball spell. After that the game is pretty much a walk in the park.
Not really, just tried it few days ago, went water mage way and got around 110AK early at lvl3 or so, then is just completing quests for xp, at lvl 20 or so u can easily get mana regen and decent amount of mana , but switched back to melee cuz i dont like overpowered shit, atleast as a melee u can die somehow, as long as you have mana pots as a mage shit is equal to god simulator

@@tarantyl It's just called "Mana Regeneration" and yes, it's available in vanilla game. The difference with Community Patch is that in vanilla it regenerates 3 mana/sec, while in CP with rebalance it's 1% of your max mana/sec. At least in the version that I played.
I think I had had all music disabled, I don't remember an option to only turn battle music off unless you go into game files and modify specific soundtracks.
That's the effect of the Fog spell which obstructs vision of enemies stepping inside, essentially making them blind. Also blocks all ranged attacks coming from outside for some reason.

@@brohvakiindova4452 Against small groups of enemies sure, but you have to keep in mind that my character in the video is very overleveled, normally you don't have such high damage or mana pool for most of the game, and when you go against a large group of enemies you run out of mana very quickly and then have to run around in circles waiting for it to recharge (which is kinda annoying and silly) or for an opportunity to down a potion (personally I hate relying on consumable items in games). So the most efficient strategy is to use AoE attacks which have a long cast animation and can often be interrupted by enemies. Also, on hard difficulty ranged attacks can be an issue especially when you're against a mage (or a dragon), magic attacks can often kill you in 2-3 hits and they are homing, so you can't evade them in the open. All in all for just 5 skill points (or whatever it costs, I don't remember) Fog spell is one of the best investments in the game, imo.

There are mods and systempacks than add dx11 support and gothic 3 4k you need minimum 12gb ram to run it smoothly

fog/darkness before entering combat, and go to town.
Neverwinter Nights as well, you use darkness to blind everyone surrounding you and than throw some aoe magic :-)

It's a passive skill you can learn.

it was one of the most anticipated RPGs back then, also one of the most crash-happy, bug ridden pieces of crap code ever released
well it is from 2006; it has many patches and runs great now even on low hardware; one of the nicest RPG out there considering it's age
