Wow, I’ve previously read the Psalm of Nephi at least a dozen times. This time It seemed to speak deeply into my whole soul. Perhaps because I’m older now? Nephi’s pain is very palpable, he truly is a human being just like us and not some fictional character in a book written by Joseph Smith.
You should read the original version by Paul in the NT. Also quite powerful. Nephi seems to have had Paul's letter and been inspired by it.

Do you think it would be okay in teaching the gospel doctrine lesson next week to kinda just skim over the lamanite curse by talking about Lehi’s promise to his grandchildren instead? I’ve been a little worried about possible comments from the class and want to avoid getting off in the weeds, but also want to make sure I cover everything. I guess I’ll make it a matter of prayer.

The doctrines of the Church are being substituted by what is PRESENTLY accepted by the counter culture. (Such as the curse of the lamanites). Thank you for keeping it real- Manasseh

Loved the break down of Nephi’s prayer of lamentation. Can see my own petitions to the Lord in prayer, when expressed sincerely, follows similar pattern. Can’t help thinking that the Lord inspires us to follow this pattern at the time of sincere petitioning!
Punishment for the parents sins are still practiced today in many countries such as India, such as children that are born into brothels 😢
