Ive been waiting 15 years for this game. It actually released 15 years to the day from AC5. And as any fan knows... 15 years ago... there was a war....
as an old-school AC fan, I can tell you you've barely scratched the surface. The best part of AC is going back to any of the games. Once you know what you're doing and really master even the tough spots you really feel like an ace. It's too bad the online offerings are a bit meh, I was hoping for a continuous AC experience. But even still, trust me, come back to this campaign from scratch in 6 months and it'll blow you away all over again! Loved the video!
the story really isnt good tho. i like the diversity of the missions but the story, the way its narated by that april girl, the princess subplot...they really failed that part of the game.
Ace Combat is one of the most slept-on series in the past two decades imo. While it did struggle a few times due to poor decision making in terms of gameplay, the series as a whole, particularly the Strangereal games. The music is nigh flawless in the series. The graphics are usually great for the year of release. AC6, released I think almost 10 years ago, still looks phenomenal, especially as a 360 only game. The PSP ACX still looks fair enough to play. Akin to the PS2 games that comprised the Holy Trinity (AC4, 5, and Zero).
Then Assault Horizon arrives, a bad game with multilanguage dialogues... Assault Horizon Legacy is different from Assault Horizon, because is a remake of Ace Combat 2.
I am not mad that it's underrated... I personally love that it's hard to find someone else who knows this game because it feels like my own private luxury... Imagine it's super big and those really obnoxious fans comes along and ruins the mood...
@@ameemrashaad2038 occasionally I find someone with the Principality of Belka as their profile pic, and I instantly know that their a bro. #BelkaDidNothingWrong
The DLCs are from what I can tell considered the best-in-series for their mission types. Unexpected Visitor is considered an incredibly good air dominance mission where you're given a bunch of planes to shoot at and even the enemy pilots are hyped. Anchorhead Raid is going to make Invincible Fleet and on some level even Whiskey Corridor and Cruik Fortress seem a bit lackluster and really makes me hope we get a remake of 04 at least. Ten Million Relief Plan is going to make it hard to replay the Scinfaxi and Hrimfaxi fights. Stonehenge was already ruined by Infinity's Stonehenge, which actually shot at you.
That's the goal sometime down the line. Getting good at the expert controls is on my bucket list. I've still got a monster of a game backlog to get through (hence me making this video a year passed AC7's release).
@@Zubatticus I never even realized how challenging these games actually are until I watched some buddies screwing it up during a party. I grew up on games like this so "Expert Controls" are kinda default to me with "Standard" seeming kinda dumb. Was a little relevation to me as I never even considered the aspect of flying a plane in three dimensions that much of a bid deal.
@@Exodon2020 Yeah there's a definite learning curve for new players. Years of playing third-person and first-person games kinda ingrain simple x-axis movement into our minds, lol

It tales place in strangeral and Gründer Industries mess It again. It is close to their revenge because what happened un 5 also there are many things from ac4 too
In my opinion this game is great for the people that want an accessable flight game that isn't complicated enough to need to research how anything works. It's like the equivalent of Forza or Gran Turismo in racing games, realistic enough to immerse you but not realistic enough so that it's difficult to play
It wasn't as good as the holy trio, but it was still fantastic. I'd love to see Zero in 7's engine. Also, go back and try playing the game with the expert control scheme. Standard (which used to be called Novice) limits your mobility so much and actually makes the game harder, while expert (which used to be called Standard) let's you control the plane like an actual plane.
I'd like to see the holy trio in general in 7's engine with how the fanbase has been hyping it up! Next playthrough will definitely be the other control scheme!
@@Zubatticus Rip the BIOS from your own system Get the ISO off of a disc I’m not advocating piracy Even though there's literally no risk Re-release the game and I’ll buy it Put it on the PlayStation Store But until then I will just pirate That’s what God made VPNs for
The music is fantastic. This entry was also pure fan service to AC4/5/Zero. I had no idea that one mission had you protect a weapon that in AC4 you destroyed. Also.... yellow 13
Ace Combat 7 was an absolute blast! I've only played this and Assault Horizons I believe it's called in the Ace Combat series but this was really enthralling. It takes a little bit for me to get used to flying in any game, but this was satisfying to get good at. Definitely a hidden gem of 2019 that more need to play.
This game has me looking out for the next game in the series. I'm just happy to know the franchise is alive and well. Who knows, maybe I'll give expert controls another shot with the next game!
Sir, I’d recommend you’d buy a PS2 and the original trilogy. The entire fanbase considers Assault Horizon the worst. Unless it was Assault Horizon Legacy, that’s just a remake of Ace Combat 2.
Got sent this video by a friend, and it was great! I was an Ace Combat fan since I was very young and could barely hold a controller around 2004, even though the game came out in 2001. I played the heck out of it. My personal hype for 7 was beyond through the roof. It's amazing to see people picking this up as their first Ace Combat, and I can't pray hard enough that they'll go back a few games to experience the magic of this series. You just earned a subscriber!
Sounds like I need a new friend group too. You wouldn't believe how many arms I had to twist to get people to play AC7. Good stuff! I'm looking forward to more of your work.
As a long time fan and player of this franchise it makes me happy that more people are playing this game than before. Literally I was surprised to launch the game near the end of March to find 20 lobbies in multiplayer. I played this game since release and the last time that i’ve seen so many lobbies was probably the first three weeks of launch. The entire franchise has been underrated with only one of my friends knowing what the franchise is. I hope that more people will be drawn into the franchise like I was because the campaign story mixed with the characters and best of all, the OSTs, really gives you a new memory while playing the game. P.S. For anyone who wants to give this game a try I really recommend getting used to expert controls because you’ll definitely be able to move faster when facing Mihaly (the enemy ace) and complete the campaign at higher difficulties which gives you a big satisfaction when you complete it.
Did someone say ACE COMBAT? I'm glad you liked this game. I remember you telling me you got it after my overview video but I didn't hear you say much about it so I was afraid you hated it or something lol. Also thanks for the shoutout at the end!
No problem! Thanks for recommending it in the first place. It took me a while to finally get to it and then make a video, but it really is a great game!
I hope you'll also try out my favourite game in the series AC4. It has a lot of restraint and nuance in its storytelling and is way less preachy than 7 as well.
I started with AC6. I fell in love. I've now played AC4, AC5, and AC7. Each of these are fantastic games. Especially AC5. If you own a PlayStation 2 ( I think it was 2) you should definitely look for that game. The AC games are a diamond. The music, the lore, the politics, and the history. I'm very grateful that I found this series by chance.
Welcome to the Ace Combat community, as you can see this is one of the most passion filled communities when it regards to a video game. I hope you get to try the holy trinity 4,5,0. This series of games needs more light and I’m glad you took a shot at it!
Ac7 was my first introduction to the Ac franchise and i fell in love with it immediately. From the planes to the soundtrack _specifically operation hush, SP mission 3, and daredevil_ made me fall in love with it even more. With the news of more DLC planes on the way, it makes me all the more happy that AC7 will still get support after the 3rd Dlc mission and the 25th anniversary update
God I love watching reviews of AC7 with it being their first. Makes me happy to see a lot of people play the game. Although for which titles makes the best use of "war bad" meaning well there's the "Holy Trinity" or Ace Combat 04, 5, and Zero. All of which are phenomenal games and hold up pretty well and amazing stories to boot.
I went into this game expecting copper. Bronze at best. But what I found was pure gold. After finishing it a couple times, I went to buy the PS2 titles, and AC6.
"Like playing a nuance documentary of a war that never happened." Ironic since that's what Ace Combat Zero is. Also, if you haven't already, you should play Ace Combat 5. I'm sure you heard people say that it's the best of all of the games but it's really is.
@@Zubatticus yeap. 4, 5, and Zero are considered the Holy Trinity in the AC series. Be forewarned, you're gonna have to get used to the "expert" controls where you have to roll and pitch in order to turn verse the simplified controls seen in the video.
Played it first on Xbox Game Pass over a month ago, bought the game and all of it's DLC on sale for $30 bucks a couple weeks later with zero regrets. Unlike you, I grew up with flying games; I've got a lot of fond memories of _Star Wars: Rogue Squadron_ on the N64 and _Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge_ on the original Xbox. Having not played a brand new AAA flying game for nearly 15 years, and with the gaming market being oversaturated with FPS games, _Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown_ was such a breath of fresh air... in more ways than one. What you are getting out of _Ace Combat 7_ is more than just an awesome arcade flying game, it is a return to the classic video game format; it is an offline single-player game where the 20-mission campaign mode is the main course, and the multiplayer is a rather unappealing side-dish. The DLC aircraft and missions are also excellent and worth every penny whether you get it on sale or not, with a more memorable story and main villain and some great mission design and soundtracks. I really hope they make _Ace Combat 8._ In the meantime, I would love to see more DLC for this game (I hear we're getting more aircraft) and if possible, have the fan-favorite PS2 era _Ace Combat_ games ported to current-gen consoles, because after this game I really want to play those.
@@Zubatticus This game has gotten even better in recent months. We finally got the new aircraft with 3 classic super-planes from previous Ace Combat titles, along with a ton of skins from _Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War,_ and even more classic skins that were just added in a free update this week. I've played the campaign mode alone 900+ times since I bought the game back in April, and I'm not bored yet. Still hoping they port those PS2-era games to modern consoles!
From what I could tell, when you're flying on expert controls, forget about the yaw (left-right) controls altogether. Just bank (roll onto the side) and pull your nose up, that's the best way to turn.
Zubatticus They were DLC skins for every plane available except for the super planes in those games. Overpowered and downright scary to your enemies. True men of culture fly the pink F-22.
Play Ace combat 4 5 and Zero, it is holy trinity of this franchise. Fun fact first Ace combat game came out at around the same time as Solid snake did.
Me:*sees a new AC vid"uu nice" NOVICE CONTROLLS Me: "MY EYES!!! YOU SOLITARY, NOW!" But than again I havr been playing AC since 1999 soo I'll give you a year or two to perfect it. Keep flying aces and see you in the skies.
Even the more black and white entries like 6 have a lot of good to them, like the one I mentioned had multi structured missions you can approach the order of in any way you want, the story is kind of cringe without knowing the backstory but it’s still a fun game.
Oh men, Lost Kingdom...Insta like, and yes AC7 needed a more lot of recognition but fans we are happy with the game at least and it's appealing enough to new audiences.
399 subscriber? Only? Thanks for covering Ace combat btw! You really have to try 5 and Zero And without the controls in easy mode. I know , the expert mode can be REALLY annoying at first but you are gonna enjoy yourself much more with it!
Yeah, I live that obscure TH-camr life well, lol. And now that I've popped my Ace Combat cherry, it's expert mode only for any past and future titles (or maybe an AC7 replay when I get through a lot more of my backlog)!
Howdy! Friendly neighborhood aviator here. If anyone wants to learn about control surfaces of aircraft and how it relates to both real life conditions and this game, I've typed up someexplanations. The expert controls are a lot closer to real aircraft. They have 3 axis of motion, all with different control surfaces. Pitch is controlled by the elevator, it dictates if your nose goes up or down. Yaw is controlled by rudder, it dictates if your nose turns left or right. Think of it like when you're driving in real life and use the steering wheel to change the direction of the hood on your car. The roll is controlled by ailerons. That's when the nose of the plane twists like the bit on a drill. In normal mode, you have control over pitch and yaw, but not roll. In expert mode you have all three. A tactic for RC planes and real aircraft is called the "bank and yank". Instead of using the rudders to yaw left or right, you can use the ailerons to roll over to one side so that the wings are perpendicular to the ground. While you're flying sideways like that, the rudder and elevator swap functions. Pulling up on the elevator while sideways allows you to make much tighter turns. Aircraft are designed to go up, so if you use the elevator to pull up your turn will be faster than if you use the elevator to go down while flying sideways. I'm a licensed remote pilot, I fly drones. I don't have experience with full scale aircraft, but hopefully this helps!
Never been into flying games. I tried war thunder and one of the Ace Combats, I dont remember. I honestly had no idea they still made titles tbh lol. That lighting storm flying looks super intense though! I think these games are a lot like driving sims to me, really intriguing but I will most likely never play them. Also, VR sounds crazy with this.
I was in the same boat at first. The lighting storm level was when I knew this game would be something special. The thing that puts this over driving sims for me is the story and not racing. Racing games stress me out as perfection and being first isn't appealing to me. I'd still recommend it if you get the chance.
As an Ace Combat fan, thank you for giving this series more recognition. You really need to play the other Ace Combat games now, for more wacky flight action
Dude, I have been binge watching your videos lately and I just can't believe that you have so few views and subscribers! Your content is absolute gold! Really awesome! Keep rockin', man!
@@Zubatticus I know how that is man hahaha, best of luck to you! I'm sure success will come eventually, given the quality of your content it is pretty much guaranteed!
My first Ace Combat game was Infinity, because I didn't know what is this game, but I realized that it was a arcade flying shooter that flies through the tunnel in every final mission (for example: Intercontinental ballistic missile defense fortress, known as 'Intolerance', Avalon Dam tactical nuclear missile facility that has an destructive V2, laser targeting rocket launch fortress, known as 'Megalith' and Archelon Fortress equipped with same type of Shock Cannon, that installed on Gandr and Gleipnir) But 9 years before I played Infinity and 7, I played Lock-On flight simulator, which isn't arcade but rather a flight simulator (and DCS). When I played Saint Row 3 repeatedly, I saw on a Playstation Store, there was a F2P Ace Combat game that I downloaded and played. So many planes in aircraft tree were used (added some newer planes) from previous games (From starter F-4E to superplane XFA-33 Fenrir). And yeah, I got the AC7 when birthday happens.
Welcome to the fanbase, bro! Ace Combat is the franchise many people tend to avoid for reasons I don't really understand. That's a shame in my view, considering the series has proven time and time again to be well-received. There's just one thing I need to mention. Ace Combat games (the ones I've played at least, 4, 5, 6, Zero and 7) all get increasingly preachy towards the end. By this point, it's become a tradition, a bad one at that. And if you haven't played them already, I strongly recommend the DLC missions, all three of them. Seriously, I can't recommend them enough. And that's all I have to say. It makes me glad to hear newcomers to the franchise are impressed by the overall presentation of Ace Combat. Excellent video.
Glad you liked it! I feel like too many people are judging it at first glance and thinking it's just not for them. Thanks for the heads up about the endings, I'll be properly expecting it now, lol. I've only heard about good things about the DLC, so I don't really have a reason to avoid them!
@@Zubatticus I hope you enjoy them as much as I did. The story does take a sudden turn, but it doesn't take long to realize it's for the better. And the gameplay is just ... it's divine.
Having been with series since the start, it was a good comeback to the series. My only issue was that the multiplayer was lacking modes. Other than that, it was a great.
my favorite game series. There is no idoit story like American save the world again and again(not include ACAH). And use a war setting for a anti-war story. just in the middle of Sci-fi setting dont feel like the COD:AW.
I have to disagree slightly. The game isnt anti war, its anti STUPID war. Big difference, stupid wars over nothing but revenge and territorial disputes are pointless and screw everyone. Wars stopping megalomaniacs and lunatics are sometimes a needed evil to stop something far worse.
Like you not hearing about this I'm disappointed I didn't hear you made this video until TH-cam recommended was like "Here's some AC7 from a friend because I know your addicted". Great video btw
@Zubatticus, Ace Combat is almost always a hidden gem. The universe of Strangereal (The planet is Earth just an alternate Earth with different landmasses) has always been fun and yes, Ace Combat 7 is a love letter to the franchise. Whether you are playing as Phoenix One, Blaze, Mobius One, Cipher, Gryphus One, Talisman, Nemo, or Trigger being the one man army of the war in the skies is fun. Also the war is bad thing is basically Ace Combat in a nutshell. I guess you could say it is mostly war is bad but also war is Hell. The best games according to consensus are 04, 5, and Zero which are known as the PS2 Golden Trilogy. Zero is basically a prequel to all the games in the franchise and it actually ties the plots of 04, 5, 6, and 7 all together. Then there is Ace Combat 3 which has two versions and depending on which you have (Japanese and English version) is either OK or god tier alongside the golden trilogy. If you want to play the Ace Combat games that take place in strangereal in chronological order you would actually end with Ace Combat 3. The worst of all has to be the GBA Ace Combat game with Ace Combat: Assault Horizon in a close second. Assault Horizon is considered the worst by anyone who hasn't heard of the GBA game and the reasons are a the damn near required to use on rails DFM. The Post Stall Maneuvers in this game are basically what DFM would be like if the on rails bullshit was taken away. Another reason Assault Horizon was disliked was the fact that there was too much boss plot armor (Mihaly in Ace Combat 7 was pretty much the only thing with heavy plot armor, the boss drones were just more difficult to kill) The things Assault Horizon did good were paint and missile smoke customization for your aircraft (Basically you could make your own special Ace skin for an aircraft), the music, and some of the multiplayer stuff. Air Strike Mode for bombers was pretty much the only good version of DFM. Also the ability to fly actual bombers on a bombing run was pretty fun. Hell, even the helicopters were kind of fun (once you got used to them and even then the controls could have used some fine tuning). One more negative is that it takes place in our world and not strangereal. Ace Combat 6 was my first full experience with an Ace Combat game though I did play a good bit of Ace Combat 04 (and never completed it because I didn't realize how SP weapons worked during that mission where you have to shoot down stealth bombers after a mission update). This one is an ok entry to the Ace Combat franchise. It isn't the best but it isn't the worst. The cheesy dialogue in cutscenes and missions can be a bit grating at times but you will tend to get used to it after a while. Despite a decent amount of top tier voice actors half the dialogue sounded like it was done over the phone at times which is another reason why it is just grating. Ace Combat 1 and 2. I have no opinions on these two since I have yet to play them however I have heard that Ace Combat 3D: Cross Rumble (Also known as Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy for some reason) on the 3DS is basically a more superior version of Ace Combat 2 and you would be better off skipping 2 for the remake. Ace Combat 04 is an entry I am in the process of beating and hoo boy does its story tie into Ace Combat 7 a lot. The mission where you sink Aeigr Fleet? That ties into the three DLC missions. The captain of the Battleship Tanager in that mission is the captain of the submarine you have to sink in the DLC missions. Remember mission 12 of Ace Combat 7 with Stonehenge and how all but one of its guns were taken down by an ISAF attack? Yeah, that was you during mission 12 of Ace Combat 04 and nearly fifteen years later we actually have to protect it (Ironic since you usually destroy super weapons in this franchise). Ace Combat Zero, once again this one is basically a prequel to all the games that take place in Strangereal. It takes place fifteen years before Ace Combat 5. If you wanted to play all the Ace Combat games that take place in strangereal in chronological order (not counting the cutscenes which take place years later) you would start with this game. This game is actually in my top two Ace Combat games so far and for a good reason and is also my most recently completed Ace Combat. Anyway, the enemy in this game is the nation of Belka which is essentially Germany. Belka has had some involvement in most of the games. Ace Combat 04? Belkans helped build Stonehenge. Ace Combat 5? Belkans are heavily involved with the story of that one, to say more would be spoilers. Ace Combat 6? Oh hello Lorenz Riedel, aka Gault 2. I thought I had killed you here but it looks like you and some of your Belkan buddies decided to help Estovakia in BUILDING THEIR FREAKING FLYING SHIPS! Ace Combat 7? What was that about Belkan technology Labarthe? Oh hello Dr. Schroder, your name is rather German . . . oh wait, you are Belkan aren't you? Ace Combat X and its concurrent sequel? Probably, we don't know for sure though. Ace Combat 3? Wouldn't be surprised if one of the mega corporations spawned from Grunder. Ace Combat 5 is another Ace Combat in my top two Ace Combat games and once again it has heavy ties to Ace Combat 7. Remember how Harling was described as a former president of Osea in Ace Combat 7? Well guess what? In 5 he is the president of Osea and you actually save him a couple times. The astronaut, the one named Kei Nagase (whose many iterations are essentially a franchise mascot) that speaks at the end of mission 20 (before the credits and final cutscene play)? Yeah, in Ace Combat 5 she is one of your wingmen. You actually have four wingmen total in this game. One of them dies and is replaced by someone else who appears frequently before he even joins your squadron. R.I.P Chopper, you were a great wingman. Anyway, the games I went in depth with are the ones I have played and I didn't even talk about all the games. For a chronological order playthrough of the Ace Combat games that take place in strangereal: 1. Ace Combat Zero missions 2. Ace Combat 1 (which is called Air Combat here) 3. Ace Combat 2/Ace Combat 3D: Cross Rumble (Aka Assault Horizon Legacy) 4. Ace Combat 04 and Ace Combat Zero cutscenes 5. Ace Combat 5 arcade mode aka Operation Katina 6. Ace Combat 5 7. Ace Combat 7 VR Mode (PS4 exclusive) 8. Ace Combat 6 9. Ace Combat 7 10. Ace Combat X (Xi would have been here however it is not able to be downloaded anymore so don't try) 11. Ace Combat 3
You put a ton of good info in this comment! I've only just dipped my toe into the series. Thanks for writing this. Now I understand what all these comments mean when they say AC7 is a love letter to fans.
All i can say, you've only scratched the surface of the world of Strangereal and the Ace Combat games. Skies Unknown is amazing, there are much better titles though, but Skies Unknown is a great introduction for new aces.
I keep hearing great things about the golden era of AC! I just need to find a PS2 to play them, unless Bandai Namco wants to be homies and release an HD trilogy.

@@Zubatticus haha ok ok that's a good point. Just glad you done 2 uploads this year already. I loved how you used the background music or this game the whole way and said that at the end I was like these jams are nice!
Right?! I usually try to use a game's OST as the background music for all my videos. Sadly, not every game has enough good music to fill a 7 to 10 minute video.
Ace Combat is a way of life! Ace Combat is my drug. Ace Combat is my life in another world. Strap in boys (and girls). It's time to save Strangereal a second time!
As a fellow newcomer to the series, I strongly sympathize with your control struggles. I myself had zero interest in the simplified control scheme however and went straight for the expert controls. The results of which were many... many... MANY crashes... But having now tried out the simpler control scheme too for research purposes, I do still definitely prefer the expert controls, even though I'm probably just a mediocre player at best.
Yeah, I watched some gameplay of players doing expert and I have a much better grasp of them, so I'll be in the same crashy boat on my next playthrough, lol
I love how I'm seeing videos about how underrated AC7 is because from the perspective of a PS2 AC fan, this entry absolutely exploded and brought in new fans in a way we could not even conceive. It literally saved the series and went even further than that. Funnier still its considered like the third worst entry for consoles.
Thanks for saying that the story is a plus point. All the reviewers said the story sucks and I find that strange. The story of Batman V Superman sucks. The story for all ace combat games is a standout achievement.
One tip for expert controls my dumb kid self taught me is to just roll the plane so that the arrow pointing to the target is above your plane so to speak, as in rolling in such a way so that the only thing you have to do afterwards is pitch up. Just remember to do that only versus planes most of the time, as doing that with ground targets that barely move at all is a dangerous waste of time. Hell, learning these controls even helps with aces, since an aircraft's mobility is as its strongest when pitching up, and with expert controls you can pitch up towards anything regardless of where they are. As for the whole part about AC 7 being the best selling title in the series, that could be true, but it might not exactly be the most profitable considering having to pay license fees for 3 platforms and some really serious development issues (story written in around a week or two during the writer's downtime period from when he was working on an anime adaptation, scrapping almost everything mid-development, third party devs chiming in right in the middle of development, Project Aces's inexperience with Unreal Engine 4, etc), but granted we only have Steam and maybe PS4 numbers all showing >1M copies each sold or something. Ace Combat 4 might still be more profitable given that its development was way less turbulent and a combination of factors that led it to selling 2.64M copies on PS2 as an exclusive to that platform. Still, AC 7 did allow the series to have some comeback after several years of inactivity, even more than a decade if you don't count in Ace Combat Assault Horizon due to its mixed reception in the fanbase.
Wait, it's like Metal Gear Solid? That's all you had to say, baby! I can make my own cow sounds...
That's the spirit! Pretty sure it'll be exactly like MGS if you fly the Stealth plane(s)
The Japanese version of Ace Combat 3 is eerily similar to MGS2 and it predates it by a couple years.

I am not mad that it's underrated... I personally love that it's hard to find someone else who knows this game because it feels like my own private luxury... Imagine it's super big and those really obnoxious fans comes along and ruins the mood...

Ten Million Relief Plan is my pick over the Arsenal Bird fight with ground targets and more character.
Very nice vid. Now go play it again with the other control scheme! It's like a whole different game.

Ace combat 3 on PS1 was a 10/10. This game feels like it's a modern version of that game.
In my opinion this game is great for the people that want an accessable flight game that isn't complicated enough to need to research how anything works. It's like the equivalent of Forza or Gran Turismo in racing games, realistic enough to immerse you but not realistic enough so that it's difficult to play
Sounds about right to me. This was my first flight game and I had a great time!
Yea you don't need a fighter pilot's license to play this game, but they keep a lot of the aspects of flying realistic.
Also, idk how You did the bunker Buster missions with standart controls, the plane didnt tried to get stable while climbing?
@@simplementepersona It flew steady from what I remember. Maybe they tweaked standard controls to compared to earlier games?
It wasn't as good as the holy trio, but it was still fantastic.
I'd love to see Zero in 7's engine.
Also, go back and try playing the game with the expert control scheme.
Standard (which used to be called Novice) limits your mobility so much and actually makes the game harder, while expert (which used to be called Standard) let's you control the plane like an actual plane.
I'd like to see the holy trio in general in 7's engine with how the fanbase has been hyping it up! Next playthrough will definitely be the other control scheme!

@@Zubatticus This game did incredibly well for the series so my eyes are peeled for the next one!
Before this you played Assault Horizon?
May AC7 cleanse this man's soul.
Beginner controls spotted, moving to engage
I cannot describe how happy I get when someone gives the franchise a try and is just blown away by the game.
"Hidden gem"
*was literally top of the charts in the UK*
Daniel Moyle i personally feel the game was forgotten throughout 2019 tho so maybe that’s why he titled it “Hidden gem”
Sounds like I need a new friend group too. You wouldn't believe how many arms I had to twist to get people to play AC7. Good stuff! I'm looking forward to more of your work.
Thanks! And maybe bribery would work better for your friends, lol
this is the game the ive completed the most in my entire library of games, the replayability is truly incredible
@@SnicketySlice If I ever get the chance, I'll keep that in mind! Although I would need get a working PS2 and find a copy of the game.
Unfortunately, I don't have a PS2, but based on this game, I completely agree. This game is a gem

The soundtrack, cheesy anime lines, and over the top tech, is what keeps me coming back to the series.
No complaints here! That'll keep me coming back to just about any game!

Judging from the other comments 4, 5 and 0 are the ones I should play next!
Yeah, definitely a breath of fresh air with very little modern-day competition. Fingers crossed AC8 and a golden era remake comes out soon!
Just below 900 subs?!?! Bruh, very underrated my guy... Zubatticus Underrated Gem of 2020

Hands down my #1 game of 2019. The gameplay, the references to the previous games, the music. All kept me hooked for the entire year and beyond.
I was a huge fan of AC6 on the Xbox 360 - the graphics blew my mind back then. And AC7 gives me the same feelings. I love it.
Crazy thing about Ace Combat 6 is it still holds up and is probably the best looking game on the 360.

Even the more black and white entries like 6 have a lot of good to them, like the one I mentioned had multi structured missions you can approach the order of in any way you want, the story is kind of cringe without knowing the backstory but it’s still a fun game.

2:57 Holy shit, I've seen the old Metal Gear codex screens so many times and yet I never noticed how similar they looked while playing AC7

As a long time fan of Ace Combat, I appreciate your take on AC7 and recommend 4,5,and 0.

From all the comments, it sounds like AC7 definitely didn't disappoint the fans!
Thank you, I love this game and this franchise in general. Most people that play it bond together in a way that no one else does around a game
One more thing THE DLC ARE MASTERPIECE
my favorite game series. There is no idoit story like American save the world again and again(not include ACAH). And use a war setting for a anti-war story. just in the middle of Sci-fi setting dont feel like the COD:AW.
The story is one of my favorite parts! As a newcomer, I was really surprised me with how good it was!
Was that simple mode there 0:46

One thing to add. The PSVR in this game is insane! I love flying the F18 and F22!
For a chronological order playthrough of the Ace Combat games that take place in strangereal:
1. Ace Combat Zero missions
2. Ace Combat 1 (which is called Air Combat here)
3. Ace Combat 2/Ace Combat 3D: Cross Rumble (Aka Assault Horizon Legacy)
4. Ace Combat 04 and Ace Combat Zero cutscenes
5. Ace Combat 5 arcade mode aka Operation Katina
6. Ace Combat 5
7. Ace Combat 7 VR Mode (PS4 exclusive)
8. Ace Combat 6
9. Ace Combat 7
10. Ace Combat X (Xi would have been here however it is not able to be downloaded anymore so don't try)
11. Ace Combat 3

Great review! As a long time fan looking at the review from different perspective I respect and agree with ya. There is one little problem I have tho. YOU FORGOT TO CHECK OUT THE VR PORTION! Lol
Glad you liked it! I would have checked it out but I don't have a PSVR headset. Most I could do was mention it at the end of the video 😅
Don't blame the game releases for your lack of uploads haha that's on you!
I put over 150 hours into Fire Emblem Three Houses. I think I can blame that one a little bit, lol
Only a second? Rooky... We had been saving It ever before It existed. It is what being an Ace means xD
Luv the commentary mad funny lol
Thanks! Glad you liked it!
Have you tried Ace Combat 3 (Japanese version)? It has 5 endings
I have not. That's pretty cool though!
Thanks for saying that the story is a plus point. All the reviewers said the story sucks and I find that strange. The story of Batman V Superman sucks. The story for all ace combat games is a standout achievement.
My brother bought this (and I have game share) and I never even downloaded it :/
Well hopefully you have the time to change that soon! I joined the hype train a little too considering it's already been over a year 😅
This guy needs to play the Holy Trinity
You won't play Animal Crossing to defeat Supreme Leader Nook, but you did a review on the last game I thought you'd play! Dammit lol
Gotta love being a wild card, lol
Im also a beginner to ac games with ac7 but trust me. Expert controls takes time n practice but it is definitely better
hells yes thanks for this video dude
Does anyone know if the old flight stick from ace combat 4 and 5 work with this ace combat 7?
