Thank you for sharing! We watched your house build and it was so exciting and helpful as our build was just a couple weeks behind yours. We are moved in and love ours as well. I really like the use of white oak and that pantry is so well done. Congratulations!
Thanks you for following along and congratulations on your new home as well. One of the most exciting and gratifying things we’ve ever done. Enjoy your new home!
Great series and love the layout. Are you selling the plans anywhere? I've been contemplating the superior walls, so glad to see someone else doing them.
@cusecrew7106, thanks so much for watching! I would HIGHLY recommend the Superior Wall system. They are awesome. We are so happy with our layout. I will do a video with our plans so you will be able to see the dimensions and details. Thanks again for watching!!
I love the look of your home and the durability and reduced maintenance of using steel. Regular stick-build homes are designed to fail in my opinion, with rot, roof replacements, warping etc. Stick-built homes are just not durable enough for me. I love the longevity of steel.
@jonericsnow, I agree! Steel exterior is certainly going to stand up for a lot longer than any other traditional siding without maintenance. The home we will be moving off our property was built in 1904 and I have owned it for over 20 years. In that time I have replaced the roof twice, once because it was time and the second time because of hail. I have painted the wood siding twice. I won’t have to worry about that with this home.
@bhoward3390, the house is 40x55 and the garage is 27x40. The front porch is 6x16 and the back porch is 10x55. Thanks for the kind words on the house. We couldn’t be happier.
We purchased the steel through Chatfield Lumber of Eyota. It is crinkle coated steel. If I remember correctly the steel was fabricated by Metal Sales. The crinkle coat does a couple things in my opinion, increases durability, creates a nicer finish and increases the thickness of the paint. Thanks for the comments!
I will be doing a video with more details on the plans. The house is 49x55 with 10’ sidewalls and a 16’ vault in living/kitchen area. Back porch is 10x55 and the front porch is 6x16. Garage is 49x27 with 16’ sidewalls.
Thanks, we like the look a lot. If you watch the previous videos, you’ll see it was built to withstand wind, tornados etc. I have a 48x80 pole barn that I built 13 years ago on the property that has withstood many bad straight line wind storms and one tornado that was very close. I guess I’m not sure what your point is regarding tornados, never seen a house, short of a solid concrete house withstand a tornado. Have a good day.
Why such a short shop door? I have two shop doors at 12’ and wish I had 14’ Boats, RV’s, toy haulers, work trailers, even a car hauler with a tractor or skid steer on it needs more height.
I know this varies depending on where you are, but what did this bad boy roughly cost all in? My wife and I are wanting to build something extremely similar to this. Probably wouldn’t opt for such awesome woodwork, but wanted to get a spitball idea of what we should anticipate with turnkey.
Hi @SpencerPOsborn, as you said, tons of variables go into the cost. Land, well, how much work you are able to do yourself etc. I believe, if a person were to hire a GC and have all of the work hired out you would be looking at north of $200/square foot average including the garage. I was very fortunate to have the time and ability to be the GC and help with a lot of our build which significantly reduced our cost. As you stated, the finishes and fixtures can really add up so if you can shop those around that helps a lot too.
@sloughdog, thanks so much for the kind words. I just had the assessor here so haven’t seen what my taxes have done yet. I will certainly ask him but I am doubtful they are lower cost.
@charlesdalzell4061, We knew the costs and didn’t anticipate it to be less than it was. You can build lower cost or more expensive. Just like any home. As far as this type of home vs a “standard” home I prefer the look and function of this home, not to mention the longevity of the exterior. Certainly no more costly than a normal home. Thanks for the comment.
Looks awesome! Gives me inspiration to get one myself, been going back and forth over something like this or a double wide/modular home.
Thanks so much!! I don’t think you’ll be disappointed if you go this route!

Beautiful home. 😍
@SteveC810, thanks so much! We love it!
VERY nice home - thanks for sharing.
@JustinMoritz, thanks so much for the kind words!
Very nice, we moved into ours last April. Love the floors in the house and garage.
@tbarbs2, congrats on your new home and thank you for the nice comments! Much appreciated.
Nice, only thing I see is I would have put a 12' (tall) garage door in.
Thanks you!

Nice job
@rose9595, thanks so much!
Beautiful home! Thank you for sharing! Was wondering what the product was in the kids bathrooms?
@ericamiley4383, thanks so much for the kind words! What product are you wondering about?
@ You are most welcome! The surround is what I was curious about! We are going through stages of building and they are talking about the onyx system.
@ Also, thank you so much for your reply! Merry Christmas!
The brand of the surround is Warm Rain and the hardware is Delta.
Merry Christmas to you too!
what sq footage did you end up in living area and then how large in the garage. a lot of hard work on your end and it looks amazing. congrats!
@bhoward3390, the house is 40x55 and the garage is 27x40. The front porch is 6x16 and the back porch is 10x55. Thanks for the kind words on the house. We couldn’t be happier.
I would love to see the mechanical room(s)
@sparkythebuilder, I will put one together and explain our system at some point!
really cool build
@OfficialTLG, thank you! It was sure a fun process. We are so happy with how it turned out!
I'm sure you included it in one of your previous videos, but what company provided the steel components for your Barndo?
We purchased the steel through Chatfield Lumber of Eyota. It is crinkle coated steel. If I remember correctly the steel was fabricated by Metal Sales. The crinkle coat does a couple things in my opinion, increases durability, creates a nicer finish and increases the thickness of the paint. Thanks for the comments!
Are the plans available? also I may have misssd it but what size is the garage and the house and heights ??
I will be doing a video with more details on the plans. The house is 49x55 with 10’ sidewalls and a 16’ vault in living/kitchen area. Back porch is 10x55 and the front porch is 6x16. Garage is 49x27 with 16’ sidewalls.
How many square foot is the house? I like the layout.
@brycarson8577, thank you! We really enjoy the layout too. The house is 2200 square foot and the garage is 1200. The back porch is 550 square feet.
congrats whats parts in mn were in lincoln co
Thank you! We are south of the twin cities in southeast MN.
Did you draw the plans out yourself? Or did you find them somewhere?
@nickwimner7065, we drew them ourselves but did have a true design completed off our drawings for the trades to use.
Looks good until the straight line winds or weak tornado comes through.
Thanks, we like the look a lot. If you watch the previous videos, you’ll see it was built to withstand wind, tornados etc. I have a 48x80 pole barn that I built 13 years ago on the property that has withstood many bad straight line wind storms and one tornado that was very close. @buffalogroveoutdoors5110 why not just build a normal more structural sound house and shed? Rather than just living in a shed?
We did stick frame this house just like any other home you’d see. It only has the steel on the exterior.
Why such a short shop door? I have two shop doors at 12’ and wish I had 14’ Boats, RV’s, toy haulers, work trailers, even a car hauler with a tractor or skid steer on it needs more height.
I didn’t want the temptation of putting my tractors or other equipment in there. I have a shop with tall doors for that stuff.
Is there plans anywhere for this
I have these plans electronically. Would you like to see the layout dimensions or which part did you want to see?
@@buffalogroveoutdoors5110 I’d love to see them also. This is exactly what we were going for. Layout and dimensions would be great
The layout dimensions this is very close to what i want to build

@@buffalogroveoutdoors5110 I can't thank you enough for this info. You rock. I hope that house is stellar for you folks for many years to come.
@@buffalogroveoutdoors5110$200 sq ft including the cement?
Yes it did.
HATE those soffit lights!!! A few of those in a neighborhood looks like the alienshave landed!!
We like them. Everyone has an opinion. Have a good day.
How much?
Cost?
@Gtcyclone, the cost was over $200/square foot and we did quite a bit of work ourselves.
@
Thanks. I love the place. Sure wish my wife would understand
TV is way too high. Enjoy the neck pain. 😂
Sure bud, you’ve got your taste, I’ve got mine and we like the height. I wouldn’t have put it there if we hadn’t. Have a great day.
looks great, are property taxes lower than with a traditional house?
@sloughdog, thanks so much for the kind words. I just had the assessor here so haven’t seen what my taxes have done yet. I will certainly ask him but I am doubtful they are lower cost.
Just like tiny homes, triple what a normal house costs, prices were supposed to be affordable and imo that backfired huge
