    I had a problem with knotweed. I tried various weed killers with some success. I noticed the effect lightning has on trees. Then I thought, its just a plant which should conduct electricity. Aftet a bit of experimentation I used a modified elecrtic welder on exposed roots and now Its nearly all gone. Funny enough, the bigger the root the greater the effect the electricity has on it!

      I TRIED TO GET MY MAIN COUNCIL TO USE ELECTRICITY ON MY NEW NEIGHBOURS GARDEN. I GOT NO HELP! I managed to get the Council to witness a company that uses electricity to get rid of Japanese Knotweed. The Council came back and said, there is not enough data and are still promoting dangerous pesticides. NOW I CAN NO LONGER FORAGE DOWN MY BACK GARDEN! The Oxford Bio Lab told me I cannot use my what was pesticide free Japanese Knotweed for my Organic Vegan Soap Making or for eating and drinking. How is this JUSTICE. I find it so selfish. butterflylullaby.blogspot.com/2019/04/beyond-pesticides-japanese-knotweed.html

    I was buying a house and the surveyor suspected he had seen a couple of small patches of Japanese Knotweed in the garden so got a specialist to do a survey. It was JK so withdrew from the sale of the property

      So he should have brought the house knowing there was knotweed there??
      I think he is highlighting how serious it is is enough to make a house unsellable.

    If the family plan to live at the house for a long time then they havn't lost any money on it. They can just treat it and live their lives. They only lose money if they are thinking of selling. This is only a mild inconvenience for them. In 15 years when they do want to sell the knotweed will have been removed and they can sell no problem.

    Hi Drakonetta...thanks for the comment. Yes, stem injection does work very well however, its whats under the ground that's hard to kill rather than whats above the ground. Normally it takes multiple applications and constant monitoring to fully kill it off. Even at that, it can lay dormaint for up to 20 years. I am really pleased however, to hear you are having some success. Keep us posted as to how it goes...

    Bastard weed. We have it in Ireland too. I was in Donegal at the weekend and there are warning signs all over Donegal for it. And where are they? roadsides. I think its something to do with trucks delivering cargo from other countries.

      Japanese knotweed is fairly common in Ireland (it was brought over as an ornamental plant in the 1800s) and spreads easily. It is often on roadsides and railway embankments due to nobody really taking responsibility for its growth in places like this. You can find out more about here: www.wiseknotweed.com/services/what-is-japanese-knotweed/

    Hi Drakonetta...totally agree. It is a beautiful plant when it blooms in September. It just masks the potential damage it can do though. Really glad to hear you are having some success. Its a tough plant to eradicate.

    Yes...funny you mentioning this. We very recently put together a infographic titled: Japanese Knotweed for Pudding. Unfortunately, you cannot put links into comments however, you can view it by going to our news feed on our website or view one of our Social channels

    Sorry to hear Battersea is suffering also. To think it first landed here with the Victorians at Crystal Palace. At AGS we really dislike Knorweed. We can help you around Battersea and we do care we are local at all gardening services AGS

    Great to hear that your neighbour had it treated as it does have the potential to impact your property. However, I would suggest keeping an eye on it as quite often one treatment is never enough.

    I removed my knotweed in 2 weeks using vinegar and preying to Jesus everyday.

      Hi Green Silver...really sorry to hear your have Knotweed near your property. My best advice is to first of all check that it has not encroached onto your property boundary. If it has, then you have a clear cut case to get something done about it. If it is the local authority's land, contact your local environmental department. You might find the council has a team that deals with Knotweed issues. Its certainly the case with some local authorities around us.
      If it is a neighbours land, we've found from experience that more often than not, the neighbour has little or no awareness of the potential issues Knotweed can cause. Often just a gental awareness conversation with your neighbour can go a long way to resolving the issue.
      I hope the information helps.

      This part of the Swansea area, the stuff if rife, in summer it's a sea of green, and winter a forest of dried up sticks. I wonder if goats would eat it or spread it, there must be a natural control method.

    well, we have two noticeable new shoots, which are going to be injected in the spring, the initial lot there were about 20, the last two were injected few days ago. im assuming it will kill the rhizomes by half at least? the guy did a pretty awsome job :D also, we decided to do stem injection because we heard people trying to manage it themselves, some for 10 years, and some slaving to control it for 25 years! it is a shame its such a pain of a plant though, its a good looker.

    Lemme save you 5 minutes. Knotweed is knot a problem. All you gotta do is get some garden variety scissors, cut it into manageable portions and roll it into an expansion joint.
    I won't lie, the only unmanageable thing about knotweed is how high it gets you when you smoke it down. It's the highest I've ever been, my mind snapped like a carrot. You know it's pure when you see those orange flecks.
    Just seconds after smoking a knotweed blunt I was flying high man, I started licking walls and eating dog food. When I came to I'd blown a load in my pants and had to throw out my boxers. Put me in a state of vegetative regeneration for a week. It was well worth the sacrifice

    One of my neighbours had this in her garden. They had to use targeted courses of strong poison to get rid of it.

    theres a basement flat just a few doors down that has a knotweed problem. next spring ill be knocking on their door and asking if i can help them with their problem lol. iv seen a recipe for knotweed crumble (its said to have a simalar flavour and texture to that of rhubarb) and im tempted to make a crumble. iv already researched the legalities and its legal to pick so long as you don't spread it. binning leftovers would be breaking the law incinerating them would be staying on the right side \

    Today my neighbor just told me all about it and it was growing in the corner of my garden I was so shocked 🤯

    • @wiseknotweed
      @wiseknotweed  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Abinayan...it is something we hear all the time. In fairness, most people have no awareness that they might have it as it isn't something that is on their radar to look out for. However, as much as I am sad to hear you have spotted Knotweed within your garden, at least you can hopefully do something about it prior to it causing any potential damage. To find out more about how to treat it, visit the following link: www.wiseknotweed.com/services/japanese-knotweed-removal/

    it does not grow through concrete how ridiculous

    • @wiseknotweed
      @wiseknotweed  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Terry, you're right, it can't grow through concrete but it is strong enough to exploit weakness in concrete and grow through cracks. This why it is a risk to property foundations.

    I deal with JK and GN every year in my job as a forester. best method to control populations and leading to eventual eradication is Stem Injection with Gylphosate mix.

  • @WisePropertyCareHO
    @WisePropertyCareHO 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi Mary Moo ... Has it encroached onto your property from a neighbours garden or from lands owned by the local authority? If so, get in touch with who ever owns the land. It is not an offence to allow Japanese knotweed to grow on your own property however, it is an offence to allow it to encroach onto someone land. Read the following webpage for help and advice: www.wiseknotweed.com/japanese-knotweed-legislation/
    If however, its the case that it has not encroached onto your property, have a professional surveyor survey the knotweed. You will find locally based, fully qualified and PCA/Trustmark industry approved surveyors via the Property Care Association (PCA) website. Alternatively, if your property is in Scotland, as PCA Approved Knotweed Surveyors, we could certainly take a look for you.
    I hope the information helps.

    I planted cannabis seeds next to the knot weed. The knot weed grew funny then stopped growing and essentially went into recession. Legalise cannabis.
