I've lived in Arizona for over 30 years and even though I wasn't born here, Arizona truly is my home. I love it. I've owned all kinds of 4x4s, over the last 50 or so years. My current off roader is a 1998 Jeep Cherokee. Lifted, 33s, 456 gears, locker in the rear and a number of other, moderate, upgrades. Arizona is a beautiful place and I love getting out and exploring. Really enjoy your videos and always look forward to the next one. Thank you.
Growing up in the L.A area as a kid in the 60's and into my teen's in the 70's, we used to travel via I-40 from Ca to Ok often during summer trips to visit my Uncle Bill & Aunt Lockie on their farm in Tecumseh. Traveling thru Az, especially the painted desert and petrified forest was one of my favorite areas to go thru. Such awesome wide open landscape. Thanks Richie ❤
Ty for the "ride along". I had to a '76 chevy Blazer and went all over the W. US. I used to find medicinal and edible plants when needed. I can't believe I never ran into a rattle snake. I did see side winder trails and shed snake skins, lots of lizards, birds of prey, and other wildlife. I even saw the desert in bloom one time. Ty for the trip down memory lane, wish I could still do the exploring. The only thing I took from the land was an occasional sm rock and I fished in some weird places that were extremely hard to get to. When things were too hard for the truck, I'd park it, and go on foot. Great times.
Born and raised here in Arizona :-) just turned 55 last month so I was here when things were awesome when sunsets were beautiful the sun was yellow, life was simple. There were pastures horses cows chickens Farm Fields sheep and good people everywhere! And that was in Glendale for crying out loud! I keep moving further and further out as the city kept closing in. I'm in Chino Valley Arizona now up by Prescott but even it's too big for me now so I had to go this far North for some space and to actually see the stars at night when they let us. I love this state or I did love this state... Kind of expected the people of Arizona to be a lot tougher than this but that's a whole nother story we won't get into on this channel :-) by the grace of God I still have soil to plant a garden in and chickens that lay me eggs everyday and my neighbor is not right up against my face every morning and people ride horses down streets now and then so I guess it's not as bad as it could be. Many many weekends motorcycle riding, four wheeling, sand rail and horseback riding, jet skiing at Lake Saguaro at Lake Pleasant and flying around the area in my dad's little Cessna. Good memories. We even used to float down the canals in the summertime 2 cool off my dad would pluck us out before we got to the metal grate at the end LOL nothing better than the desert after it rains it smells so good all the desert grasses and flowers bloom like crazy.
When you stumble make it part of the dance. Big smile. 😉 Yes, Arizona is so vast and I never took the time to explore it as I should have while I lived there. I was hung up on the sunsets and would cruise down the highway, find a big rock, cross my fingers praying nothing would kick my ass invading their space and watch the sun take a bow holding my breath in amazement looking at all the amazing colors. Arizona's sunsets are hands down the most beautiful in my opinion. Thanks for the video!
My son lives in Arizona and jeeps through rough terrain. Also a friend. A lady utuber I met came to live off grid out in the middle of nowhere. She found others. Had to learn the hard way. Now has a friend where they moved more remote. He set up a water system for shower, bathroom, got a shed with porch fir her and built the inside. They have built a greenhouse garden. Have ducks. A couple of dogs. They are always busy. Had to make alot snake and coyote proof. Weather is harsh. But land and sky beautiful and their older. I think she has great courage to leave midwest to a desert she knew nothing about and adapted. Awesome video.
I remember the first time I took my friend from Colorado(only seeing the city) away from Phoenix and took him up north where i was taught to hunt, and it too blew his mind. Love from Arizona Richie
Thanks for that Richie. You've given me some hope. My daughter said to me today that she wants to visit America. I'm not surprised when I tell her the stories about her old man in Boston as a 15 year old, wet behind the ears mick looking for a job. That was beautiful. If you weren't who you are, I wouldn't of seen that beauty in Arizona. Thanks again Boss.
I think Arizona is heaven for a guy like Richie. We were going to mountain bike up to the summit of Mount Lemmon then descend into Oracle which looks gnarly for bikes, trucks, off grid bike packing etc.
Richie, it's great to hear your appreciation for Arizona. There is a little bit of everything here and the exploration opportunities are truly endless.
I moved here to Arizona about a month and a half now! From Illinoisikstan originally. I F'n love it here. It is so beautiful. I have only begun exploring mostly East of Phoenix. Bull Dog Canyon is Nice and beautiful. Its an OHV area but not busy during the week. I just spent three days out there in my Jeep with the dog. If you see this and are still in the high desert, you NEED to go to the Mogollon Rim, it is not over rated. I spent my first weekend here on the Rim. When I found the perfect campsite right on the rim. It was the most beautiful scenery I have ever laid my eyes on, I shed a tear.
You have a real gift for this and should keep doing it more, maybe even all over the world if you get sponsors/financing. It's really a refreshing reminder of the natural world our Creator made being perfect despite the man-made constructs being trash.
I second this like this could be on national geographic or the travel channel great narration awesome footage off roading in cool trucks survival prepping this is better than most of the shows on any of those stations for sure
Good to hear from you Richie! If you ever get the chance, check out the Chiricahua mountains, south of Tucson and just outside of Wilcox, Az. Around July is the best time since it's about 8500 elevation. However anytime is a good time there! Just depends on what you want to see during the different seasons. Bring polarized lenses for your camera's, so you can get the best shots against the very bright yellow, orange rock colorations in and around the canyons and unique rock formations. (Like a mini Grand Canyon) When I went many years ago they had paid spots where you could set up a tent around a ranger station, bathroom/shower area. There was a convenient/gift store up the road from this camping site. White squirrels big as dogs, walking trails and just a load of very unique balancing rock formations. And oh, the really up close bright star's in the night sky's! We camped there for three days and just loved it! Ranger even had a educational night at the head site campus for what to expect and gave out maps for the various mile long paths and trails. Well stay safe buddy! 🤠
Your always recognizable voice, talent for storytelling and these beautiful views make me want to jump on a plane to experience it and see it with my own eyes. Simply incredible! TY

Thank-you for sharing your adventure with us. I used to ride dirt bikes all over the Arizona desert back in the day. I knew about the cactus you could get water from if it come to staying alive. I look forward to watching more of your amazing videos. I love you in Christ. Hugs.

I studied Arizona from afar and from a few trips... and now I live here! It’s a great place to be living in these strange days! And it’s so absolutely beautiful... and as a wildlife rehabilitative, I love all the wildlife here!
Thanks for all your work!! I miss my days of roping cattle.. miss the west and south... gotta go out on the mountain for the night and make some snow... if you ever return to the east coast you NEED to come watch the sky’s at night from this place... it’s amazing and you’ve got the cameras to catch it... “there will be signs in the stars and sky”... hit me up... god bless and thanks again !!!
I loved that! I always wanted to go to AZ & see the cacti & all the beautiful colored rocks. Thank you so much for showing us all the beautiful & interesting sights!
Richie thanks for letting us witness some of God's creation, through your lense. He has given you a "gift" and your utilizing it to the utmost. Much Love.
Thank you so much for sharing. The scenery is spectacular I love your videos. Your truck is super cool I love the way it climbs the rocks. I can’t get enough of these videos I am always sad when they are over, so I rewatch them LOL. Stay safe, God bless you, looking forward to the next ride you take us on👋🏼❤️.
The camera goes wild, scrambling on the rocks is heard, a hand shoots to the ground- F...!! And that breathing! Reality! Love you brother. Please be careful.
I’ve lived in Arizona for five years now it’s without a doubt the most amazing place to live . Thank you Richie . I’m proud to be an Arizonian now ♥️💪🏻👍🏻✌🏼
The prickly pears are edible. Too. And their flower buds are sweet juicy fruit. ETA - the century plant is also edible right before it blooms. It's the green balls at the top - golumbos. That giant aloe looking plant is a maguey. The sap can be consumed or fermented and consumed. And mesquite seeds make an interesting flour. Yucca flowers are also edible. I had a 55 in Kenya. Tyres ran me $200USD each. Sold it. But it would go *anywhere *. Loved it.
Outstanding such beautiful, peaceful scenery great video Richie love the outdoors Thank you for getting out to these beautiful spots love and freedom to all
Hello Richie thanks for sharing. Those prickle pear cactus have an amazing fruit full of nutrients that is very yummy. Most people in the city that once in a while find them in the grocery store don't even know where these come from. Arizona is a great place to explore. There is something special about this place. Well, away from the crowds anyway!
Wow- fantastic- Richie, can I just take the time to say thank you for all your channels this year- you have really helped me in so many ways-information and great entertainment like this-all the best, Bill from London.
My Dad and I rented a Toyota that looked a lot like your friend's rig, only it was all stock. We used it to drive up to the top of Freel Peak on the South end of Lake Tahoe to reach a Microwave site he needed to work on. That rig didn't slip a wheel going up,and it was steep enough the cooler slipped over the seat back into the cargo area. I don't know the altitude at the top,but I feel safe in saying it's in the range of 10,000-11,000 feet-I know it feels higher than Spruce Mountain, which is 10,262 feet. The point is that these Toyota rigs are VERY capable Four Wheelers even stock. I'm amazed that Toyota didn't get massive outcry from the Off-Road community when they stopped production of 'em. "Course that wasn't how people got things done back then.....Great video-hope you healed up quick. I know when I off-road,I ALWAYS end up finding scars and scabs later that make me wonder,"Where the hell did THAT come from?"
@Joni Wilson, Awe,may THE HEAVENLY FATHER be with you!!! I prayed for a speedy healing and speedy recovery for you!!! In the mighty name of JESUS THE CHRIST!!! A'MEN
Absolutely love these videos as much as you! You sounded like a angry bear when you fell and while I truly am sorry you got hurt, the sounds you were making made me chuckle. ❤️🙏🏼
Absolutely breathtaking! Your drive for adventure is mind boggling! Thank you for taking us places we can only hope to see in our lives. Blessings brother!
SPARED THE CANNON.... BUT CAME OUT GASHED UP.... Gotta make sure we get these awesome video's out the people in the East Tennessean Smoky Mountains!!!! PERFECT BROTHA!!
Hey richie I'm the guy you gave the sticker to at the shell gas station in Prescott. I'm proud of Arizona so thanks for recognizing it's an awesome state
3rd Generation Arizonan here, We are currently living off grid near the Grand Canyon.. don't forget to check out places in the Kaibab Forest THE largest Ponderosa Pine Forest in the world, stretching from Mexico to the Grand Canyon. Love you documentaries on our beautiful State...Peace
Yes that prickly pear cactus 🌵 is good for so much more. The name of it comes from the fruit it produces, the red pear shaped prickly fruit is edible, people mix it with alcohol drinks for it's flavor. We call that fruit "tuna" here in New Mexico. The cactus it's self with out the pricks and skin is also edible. It is so delicious. You can find a jar of them in the grocery stores in the Mexican food section. But by far my favorite way to eat these prickly pear cactus called "Nopales" is in a special salad of nopales, cucumber, tomato and New Mexico chile! Extremely delicious a must try if you have never had it before! Also it lowers your blood sugar if your diabetic very medicinal too. Nice video thank you. Oh you can cook with those shrub oaks tree's it puts a nice flavor in meats especially squirrel and cotton tail.
Thank you for taking us there (in a sorts) Richie. I really enjoy seeing all the various landscapes you've visited. Not something we all are aware of not being able to travel off the beaten path usually.
Another of your awesome videos Richie. Great work!!! Lived the footage. BEAUTIFUL up there!!! Yes those huge boulders are amazing!!! Seems it would beat you black & blue on the journey there, but also looks like an awesome adventure!! I would definitely love it man!! Thanks for sharing such beauty with all of your viewers & subs. Great video as usual Richie. Hugs & prayers to you. God bless!! 🙏❤🙏❤🙏❤🙏❤🙏❤🙏❤🙏❤
Hey Richie.I grew up in Rhode Island..your neck of the woods.but after leaving the military in 1989.I moved to AZ.and have been living here for 35 years now.there are a variety of reasons why and im glad you got out here and captured in this video some of those reasons.love it here..peace brother
Don’t erase your message nowIf someone thinks working every day, missing time with your family, all the while making someone else wealthy, and them being able to leave the Business to THIER children!!! While you bust your ass to leave broke is the dream... your sadly mistaken
One of the reasons I live in the desert was exactly what you said Richie, to be away from people, progress has come though and the town became a city. One of these days I’ll have to get farther out again. Love Your video of Az.
Wow! Wicked beautiful and amazing agile old beasts...men and machines. JK. Thanks for bringing us along. Keep blazing trails and taking videos. Incredible stuff
I live for 2 years out in Arizona. And like you Richie, I was his adventurous as you could get. I would drive my car in the washes when they were dry of course, and ride my motorcycle everywhere up to vulture peak, South mountain over to the lakes and just about everywhere in between. That was back when I was a free bird, but now I've been married for 32 years, and I'm about ready to get out and be a free bird again.
In droughts in S. Texas, ranchers use propane burners to burn the thorns off prickly pear cactus, so their cattle can eat them when there’s nothing else to eat. Feed and water both.
I live about five miles from that lake. Az. is a beautiful place. I have a large Alligator Juniper at the front of my property, I've been told it's over 200 years old. Thank you for another great video.
Boyd is one of those peaceful guys you just can’t help but love. Keep enjoying the area, we have a lot of awesome views to see out where most people never get to go 👍
Our neighbors had an "iron pig" back in the 70's and I always thought it was kind of unique, sadly New York State road salt killed it well before it's time. Another interesting video Ritchie, thank you.

Hey Richie, sure do miss you on the other channels! Glad you still have this one! Helps us get to see all the things most of us aren't able to! Just stay safe and be careful. Until next time. 🥰🌞💜✌️
You can eat eat the fruit of the plants, which are not only sweet and delicious (why they are called prickly "pears"), but highly nutritious. The paddles are more for emergency "water" (with minerals and other nutrients as well). It is good to know as many wild edibles as possible. Great video. Thanks!
Hey Richie, Thank you for doing the "Iron Pig" description! I just couldnt place that truck in your intro!! Interesting as hell! Great vid as always! Stay Safe

3rd Generation Arizonan here,
We are currently living off grid near the Grand Canyon.. don't forget to check out places in the Kaibab Forest THE largest Ponderosa Pine Forest in the world, stretching from Mexico to the Grand Canyon.
Hi from Italy. Love travelling with your beautiful and entertaining videos. Ready for next adventure. Thanks RFB. 👋😊.
Thank you for taking us there (in a sorts) Richie. I really enjoy seeing all the various landscapes you've visited. Not something we all are aware of not being able to travel off the beaten path usually.
And they say the world is over populated. Everything is a lie. Except God's truth of course.

LIVING THE DREAM!!! PEACE AND BLESSING ON YOUR TRAVELS JAILBREAK OVERLANDER🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Richie, Arizona rocks its beautiful. Glade you groove on it. I'm in so Cal but always tripped to Arizona

Our neighbors had an "iron pig" back in the 70's and I always thought it was kind of unique, sadly New York State road salt killed it well before it's time. Another interesting video Ritchie, thank you.

I miss his other channels too😣! I know I'll have to subscribe to richiefromboston tv soon.

You can eat eat the fruit of the plants, which are not only sweet and delicious (why they are called prickly "pears"), but highly nutritious. The paddles are more for emergency "water" (with minerals and other nutrients as well). It is good to know as many wild edibles as possible. Great video. Thanks!
The reward is amazing and worth the risk! I haven't been 4-wheeling in a bit. I guess it's called, "off roading" now. LOVE THIS STUFF!
Another outstanding video. I love the American Southwest. Traveled 33 countries, nothing like lake Powell and the American west. Another great vid RFB
