Severn Valley Railway - Spring Steam Gala 2024 - 4K

As every year the Severn Valley Railway host their annual ‘Spring Steam Gala’ boasting an intensive timetable, double headers and demonstration freight workings.
The railway had brought in 3 guest engines as well as the home fleet locomotives in steam also, originally planned was 6880 ‘Betton Grange’, a new built engine but due to it not being quite ready yet it was later announced it wouldn’t be attending.
The guests that did arrive however was Lambton colliery tank 0-6-2 No. 29 visiting from the NYMR as well as LBSC brighton works A1X Terrier No.72 ‘Fenchurch’ - a new one for me.
Both the guest engines would work the local set as well as 29 doing full length trips on set days. I’d decided I’d go out and capture as much as possible for the 4 day event and the weather was fantastic throughout with sunshine beaming to create some fabulous lighting conditions.
Spending the first 2 days up at the northern end of the line capturing the locomotives hard at work as they climb Eardington bank up to bridgenorth, the latter of this event I’d focused on the southern end of the line.
Walking stupid miles each day took it out of me but it was worth doing to get the shots I required to cover this gala extensively.
Hats off to the organising team at the railway for putting on a good gala once again!
