So question... how are you paying for rent with you credit card? Money orders normally used for rent require cash right? I’ve been turned down several times trying to pay with both my Amex Gold Card and Chase Reserve...
I can pay my rent with a credit card as well. But there is a fee with that that is around 3 1/2 % so I don't use a credit card to pay rent unless I am working on a sign up bonus or a bonus to earn a loatload of points.
You only need to write a letter of explanation for any credit inquiries on your credit report before going through the mortgage process. If you opened a new account, you will have to document it. Hitting minimum spends requires more strategy if one lives in an area with a lower cost-of-living. What other credit cards do you recommend to use with plastiq (that doesn’t have any annual fees) since plastiq charges 2.5% and would yield in a positive return? I have the citi double cash, and I’m still at a loss 2-2.5=-0.5 if I was to use it. *I’m not interested in traveling/lodging bonus/rewards.
Plastiq is mostly a signup bonus game. I would look into "get $150 back for spending $500" bonuses. = $150 / $500 = 30% return on spend vs. the 2.5% you're paying
I would only pay one month at a time of student loans on credit cards, even if the interest is lower. There are many more options for deferment or reduced payments, if you run into financial trouble, or cancellation if you become disabled, by using the federal government student loans.
Or if you are one that concerns yourself about your estate, if you happen to pass away your federal student loans are cancelled, where as credit card companies can still collect.

I think I’m at a standstill for the time being. My credit score is 740, I’ve opened 20+ accounts over the past year to build a large based of good cards since watching your channel. Most of my cards are from Amex and other larger banks with rewards, except I skipped Chase and will have to wait 24 mths to apply for the Sapphire. Although my credit utilization is low, I do carry balances on 0% Interest cards to establish payment history with a new account (for example Discover). But due to my recent number of applications and new accounts opening, I can’t really do anything at this time. I did notice that the hit from the inquiries to my credit score wasn’t impacted very much but it has affected my overall approval status due to having opened so many accounts. Is there anything else I can be doing besides just waiting 2 years to clear my inquiries and new accounts? I’m hoping by that time the inquiries fall off and my credit utilization goes to 0% my credit score will jump to 800.
Hello, Chase recently closed one of my card accounts due to non use. Is this a bad thing? Should I be putting a small charge on all my still existing cards that I no longer use every once in a while? Also, can the Chase United card and/or Chase Southwest card be downgraded to the Chase Freedom card?
So If I want to get new credits cards and I already have 8-10 inquires on my credit report for this year should I wait until they get taken out after 24 months or does it matter?
If you playing the long term game then I'd go on ahead and get the card. It'll take your average credit history down but over the long run it'll recover as your youngest credit account ages therefore raising your average account history over time. Basically taking the hit now is better than taking the hit later down the road. You don't want to come off desperate for credit though. If the inquires on your credit report are from different card companies then I suggest waiting till the inquires are off your credit then apply, it increases your chances of getting the cards. Keep in mind if you trying to get a chase card they do have a 5/24 rule...hope this helps you make a decision a bit but it's always good to seek several different opinions
Hey Sebby if you have a good credit score but start to get denied from "too many recent inquiries" or "too many new accounts", how long do you typically wait before you can apply again?
Great content as always! But please drop the zoom in/out, too annoying on the eyes, you can maybe put b-roll stock photo or footage to cover the cuts. Honestly I don't mind jump cuts, it's the information that counts.
Sorry about that! Some people mentioned that it was annoying that I was teleporting around the screen (Philip DeFranco style) so I was tested the zoom thing (MKBHD style). I'm personally not a fan of the stock photos style (unless it's very relevant -- travel?) so I probably won't do that one.
I actively avoid issuers I know I won't get accepted for (i.e., Capital One, Chase due to 5/24, etc.) Otherwise, not really? It's mostly knowing the rules and playing by the rules.
Your philosophy makes sense to me. Also, I do consulting work for people that struggle with colloquialisms, old sayings, and outdated phrases. For instance; taking advantage of something current is "Striking while the iron is hot". If you're wrestling with something difficult it's "Like trying to stick a noodle up a wildcat's butt". If you think someone is exaggerating then you may have "Heard a duck fart underwater before". That sort of thing. I'd be happy to help you out. Hilarious watching you power though those things though.
Yup in the student loan situation. Try to keep telling my parents that if I wait a couple months I get much more money than whatever interest would have been accrued by getting a new card. Juggling cash between bank account bonuses and minimum spends means I'm not always paying my loans as fast as possible but simple math tells me I end up well ahead of interest with close to 0 risk. Only wish I knew about it in college haha, was in the club situation you described. I ran a club where we would buy a ton of stuff online and fly out multiple people every spring. Could have hit some minimum spends easy.

@Jordan Vazquez
Hey Sebby if you have a good credit score but start to get denied from "too many recent inquiries" or "too many new accounts", how long do you typically wait before you can apply again?
Take a break for 6 months. Many issuers have "6 inquiries in 6 months" rules.
Or just go to Amex (very lax).
Hi Sebby! Any idea of how to waive anual fee?
MLA/SCRA? Otherwise it's about expected value. I don't mind paying $10,000 for annual fees to get $30,000 to $40,000 in travel (YMMV obviously).
Hey Sebby, you and I think awfully alike. I went to a Brazilian Steak House today and I cleaned up Lol
I always have to tell people to avoid the cheese bread lol
Ask Sebby the cheese bread is one of those things you cant just have one 🙂

Do you ever get denied applications?
I actively avoid issuers I know I won't get accepted for (i.e., Capital One, Chase due to 5/24, etc.)
Otherwise, not really? It's mostly knowing the rules and playing by the rules.
Sebby when thinking about his player two: She adds the requisite expected value to my life.
I agree with the point made about choosing things that provide value in life :)
can you pay student loans with credit cards ?
Plastiq is probably the easiest way.
thank u
Have 12 cards and credit score of 830 give or take 10 points from time to time.
YO Sebby! Your the man!!!!
Hey, thank you for the great tips. I have 7.5 year of credit with only 2 cards and want to open a new card but scared. What you think?
Whats your non bonus spend credit card?
Minimum spend.
You gotta run outta cards at some point though
At that end point, probably Delta for the MQD waiver? It really depends.
Also, just for fun: th-cam.com/video/G29JQqyrxuI/w-d-xo.html
Woah what card will give me a 30% spend return?
Cash back (small scale) = tons of $150 for $500 spend offers = 30% ROS
Travel = CSP bonus easily $1,200 towards travel (i.e., transfer to Hyatt) / $4,000 spend = 30% ROS
i love DENVER !!! great city
Hey, is there any easy way to delete the inquiry? PLLEEASSER HELP!
If someone fraudulently applied for something, report it.
Ask Sebby you mean disputing through three credit bureaus?
@@gangdanny303 Yes but only in the case of fraud. If the account is found to be valid the info usually comes back.
I know this is old but I gotta ask... you do at least eat some rice when you aren’t paying to get full right? Rice is still good at home lol
Please get a t-shirt that says "Only if it makes sense".
"YMMV"
Ask Sebby whats that stand for???
@@AskSebby And, "Positive Expected Value!" lol
Your Mileage May Vary.
$4000 for a 2 bedroom?? I live in New York and my mortgage on my house is almost half that.

Ask Sebby I didn’t say I didn’t believe you, it’s just crazy that it’s that much. I was in L.A. last year and the price of houses is insane
San Francisco, specifically, has a lot of "NIMBY" issues.
chanel platium 😉
asians, especially Chinese are never reckless with money haha well, I take that back, when it comes to gambling then maybe....
I don't gamble though :)
I agree I’m Asian good with money but I do have my occasional roulette streaks
Have many credit card accounts do you have in total?
Your philosophy makes sense to me. Also, I do consulting work for people that struggle with colloquialisms, old sayings, and outdated phrases. For instance; taking advantage of something current is "Striking while the iron is hot". If you're wrestling with something difficult it's "Like trying to stick a noodle up a wildcat's butt". If you think someone is exaggerating then you may have "Heard a duck fart underwater before". That sort of thing. I'd be happy to help you out. Hilarious watching you power though those things though.
It's mostly a function of improvising videos when I start with 2-3 bullet points in my head.
Well, all I can say is that it works. Love the channel. So much great info.
Move to Los Angeles! We'd be lucky to have you!
Could have hit some minimum spends easy.
yes!!!!
#NoRice!
I pay everything cash I have no paper trail I can’t be tracked
I have 16 cards lol
Because there’s no place for a one trick pony in an artificial intelligence age
All you can really do is adapt to the game as it changes. Play the best game based off the current rules.
